Cool...but hopefully it's not coming for a while. When I build my new computer I'm gonna just be starting on Burning Crusade, and I don't want to have the thought that everything I have will be crap in a scant few months.
What after that, though? What else in the lore can be explored? Fighting Sargeras himself?
I find the idea of "hero classes" interesting, kind of like the original Jedi concept in Star Wars Galaxies.
Also important.
Quote:
Will there be any graphical enhancements?
Yes. We're currently working on some technical enhancements to the game's graphics, and we'll be discussing these further in the months ahead.
Needs more mid-level stuff. Tacking more stuff on to the end is cool and all... the middle levels are still as boring as shit.
I was gonna say it's too soon for this, but knowing how Blizzard works, I'm sure we won't see this til late 2008 at the earliest. And that's okay.
Same old Same old sadly.
Another level grind that will make everything 4 months before expansion hits useless, including high end instances most will ever see like they did with Naxx.
Re-use of Scourge models, and possibly TBC item models for greens and blues again.
DK class that will be completely OP at release and will be nerfed with next pathes lol. And watch for millions of DK popping everywhere :p
The Death Knight seems pretty poorly implemented to me. I know there will be more, but Blizzard should have learned by now when you increase something so limitedly at any give time, EVERYONE is gonna strive for one.
Don't know about you guys but I think at last census 25 percent of my server was Dranei Shaman after TBC came out cause everyone wanted to see and be the new race, and too one side, the new class. I swear every single Warrior (they used to be abundant) rerolled Dranei Shaman.
Only having one hero class available at launch (which, correct me if I'm wrong, is what he sounded like he said) would be pretty annoying and one dimensional.
And no, it wont be late 2008. Last time they did the same with Burning Crusade and it was out this January. With upcoming Warhammer MMO which will be more PVP based, Bliz looking at loss of pvp crowd and needs also to worry about bringing new customer blood in.
Yeah, like despair said.
I mean whats my real motivation for re-reolling when i have to now get to lvl 80 in order to experience the worthwhile stuff? Goin through Zul Farrak and RFD is only fun so many times.
fuck higher levels, end game in all games should be pvp.
Crap now I'll have to sign up for it again
I'm indifferent to this right now. Seems neat in general, except for Hero classes, but I'm glad I have a reason to not get T6 besides I like my social life.
It looks really amazing, but I will not get this. 2 years playing one game is well and truely my limit. At least this will give Blizzard a fighting chance against Warhammer Online, which to me looks like the biggest piece of shit ever.
I hate every MMO ever because of the concept but WOW is tops for me. I could never commit past level 26 or so though.
I played this as my first MMO at the badgering of some friends last semester and gave up around level 30 or so.
Above all, I just couldn't stand the fact that the core gameplay feels a lot like running on a treadmill.
The fact that battle outcomes were almost always determined before the fights even began was also a big turn-off to an action fan like myself.
The problem isn't really the time commitment, it's finding others who are competent yet not fucking insane to play with.
Our guild suffers from some bad players who hold us back, but I prefer what we do to raiding 5 days a week +.
This expansion does seem to be coming up too soon after they just introduced three new tier sets.
Seriously, mid level content pls.
Yeah, I don't care anymore.
That will never happen.
Either way I like this idea less and less. Not for anything I had to claw and scratch my way to see all of endgame before either expansion came out, and at the moment I doubt I will see much beyond Karazan and the first few 25 mans, mostly because TBC killed the raiding guild. Not to say it was perfect before, but it was managable and even the most bumbling raid leaders (me) found their way to the important stuff. Now its just like a maze of annoyances, confusion, and gear that really ain't that big of an upgrade.
They really need to find a better way to tack shit on to the end of these MMORPG's, because letting me level another 10 level's so I can complete a ridiculous attunement quest to be eligible for a bunch of raids I probably will never see the end of, is getting really old.
TBC made this mistake of making the ability to start these endgame things easier, but then had no middle ground for anyone. Training people to raid in a 10 man first, and then having every subsequent raid be 25 mans is just weird, and jarring. Especially considering they added each sides new class, then dropped the amount of people you can take to a raid. Lots of guilds bled their members out and just dissipated because of this half-assed, poorly thought out, bullshit.
Here's hoping if they have an idea with this one they want to see through to the end, and not start panicking half-way through implementing it.
They also adding another 25 man, before the WOTLK.
My complaint has been for ages:
You can get through 1-60 fine with decent gear pretty much solo. Sure you need 5-10 people to run and instance but its not brain surgery.
60 raids hit, good gear suddenly requires 40 people.
10 man raids however DO NOT prepare you for 25 man raids, and if your in a guild capable of making the transition from Kara to the 25 man raids, then you are in a guild that is complete exception to the norm right now.
Blizzard is also nerfing shadow priests again apparently, because the mage forum whined hard enough about them being outdamaged in raids by them. This is now 8 straight patches with nothing but nerfs for priests.
Fuck Blizzard right now. Fuck them so hard.
You'll still play.
Tommy Tallarico
My only problem with the game is that healadins are boring, tankadins got caught by warriors again, right after I built a ton of cred as an awesome tank, and I'm not rerolling anything to play from 1-80.
Oh please. If it wasn't for the mostly all sheepable instances and raids in TBC, mages would get passed over repeatedly. The damage coeffecient was a dumb fucking move and they shouldn't nerf shadow priests, they should fix mages. All the forum whining was about being outdps'ed in general by everyone, not by shadow priests.
We're squishy targets that can do nothing of worth besides dps. We should be at the top, no question, without having to aoe like assholes. The coeffecient means I am constantly struggling to stay at the top.
Silly Mages
D, we mages are a strong community, far stronger than steven segal.
EB has the date as 11/03/08. That's further out than I expected, but probably more realistic.
Did you RF guys ever get serious with Horde alts? If not, and if anyone is interested, I have a 70 Warlock on Auchindown. She got her flying mount yesterday in less than 16 days in-game time. :D
Save the NSHDC. The Alliance sucks.
lol Yoshi, secretly playing Horde while froting that WOW sucks lol
I've only been playing for about six weeks. The game is definitely better than when I quit the first time, but it's still pretty shallow. However, everything else sucks, and playing MMOs saves me a ton of money in stupid impulse purchases.
Agree. Also is this Rampant fronting, still... fronting? I'm getting into the game again. Currently alliance on BWL
Oh please your face. You guys got arguably one of the most enjoyable upgrades from the expansion. Just get some better damage gear and enjoy your class. I'm just sick of not having anything new to look forward too when it comes to patches. I just cringe every time they take something away.
I mean for godsake at least take mind soothe out of the spell book.
Ha, reminds me of Warlocks during the first year after beta. They were nerfed EVERY single patch until they were uber buffed and fixed the debuff limit. Went from free kills to pvp gods.
Hmm, I was figuring this would be the exansion where they take back Gnomeregan and introduce flying mounts into Azeroth (just how long are they going to sit on that Ironforge airport?).
If I thought I could be competitive without committing to dozens of 8-hour-long raids, I'd stil be playing. Perhaps Warhammer will renew my interest in MMOs, since I love the tabletop game.
I want something more action-y like Huxley, but I have this fear that Huxley won't be very good. Maybe its the content difference between console and PC (even though they play on the same servers), maybe its the fact that a good MMOFPS would be hard for any company to pull off, much less a Korean company that has never made an FPS.
it will be lively, until Halo3 and rest of holiday bunch hits the shelves.
So playing with other people in an MMO sucks?
I thought that was the point.
You have 5 man instances and an awesome 10 man raid, with another coming.
And the only problem with the 25 man raids are finding 24 other people who don't suck to actually show up the one night you want to try it. How the hell did we ever field a 40 man?? Nothing in this game is hard, and nothing it asks you to do is even remotely as difficult as pretty much any console game ever made. The challenge comes from playing with people's relatives, girlfriends, etc., who suck.
So apparently, the vocalist from Cannibal Corpse has 4 different WoW accounts with maxed out characters:
That was pretty funny. I like how he just keeps on going and going. Srs bznz imo.
That's Rahmbo in 10 years.
owned.
They're making leveling easier between 20-60, that is good news.
Patch 3.0.2. is in fact on the Public Test Realms so that's a good sign that he date is approaching, I'd be very happy with a November 13th release date. Take a few days off the next week and then get thanksgiving, plenty of time for leveling a death knight from 55 - 70 at least hopefully. Since they're tuning down the experience requirements for levels 60-70.Quote:

I'm on the PTR and it's buggy as hell. They've got a lot of work to do in 2 months.
I'm in the Beta and it's buggy but a lot of it is stress related so it's hard to tell. Other than some issues in CoT Stratholme I haven't had too many bugs. I mean I've only played for this weekend though.
But all the classes aren't where they need to be etc, I mean they have a lot of work, but I can see Nov 13.
Oh and Preorders are up on WoW's site. Since you can download the disks that's probably what I'll do.
Have fun downloading it with somewhere around 10m people. I'll just pick mine up from the store kthx.
If you pick it up, you also get the bonus of waiting in line to go pick it up at midnight and dropping a stank fart like I did when I waited for TBC.
lol I'll probably pick it up from the store. There were like 15 people there when I did it last time. Trying to decide how long to wait to take a day or two off from work.
lol Like anyone's going to be able to log in and/or get anywhere release day anyway. Download is most likely the way to go as I wouldn't be surprised if they allow for pre-loading, but regardless it will probably be an enormous pain in the ass to do anything involving DKs or Northrend until the next week.
CE for me. Blizzard's about the only company who gets that right these days.
I was able to hit 61 the first night of the release of BC. Is there going to be lag and downtime? Probably but the first night is usually ok because everyone is either going to bed or downloading the game. The best time to start if you want to get ahead of the curve a little bit is in that time period of that morning lol.
Maybe he meant to post that 60-70 is going to be easier, which it is. 30% XP bonus, or whatever that amounts to.
(should be higher)
edit: WTF, did someone delete a post?
Is it only 30%? I thought they were gonna drop down to be in line with the XP requirements from 59 - 60 (it's like a 300k increase when you hit 60)
Yes, because I replied to a post from 2007 and I wasn't sure if it actually meant anything at this point. I recently went back to the game after months and months of not playing, and I was shocked to see how damn easy it was to get to 60, when even working through the 40s gave me a ton of trouble back then.
Yeah and that's a good thing too. I'd love to do the recruit a friend eventually for the 3x xp if I find a friend who isn't already into WoW and wants to.
Recruit yourself, max your level, transfer the char, cancel account.
Have to buy WoW to do so (Though I don't think you have to buy BC) don't feel like buying another game sounds like it borders a bit on pathetic lol.
It essentially pays for itself since you get a month free on both accounts.
Good point, sometime after WOTLK comes out I may do that. Since you don't have to buy WOTLK or BC to really make use of it.
No, you were right the first time.
November 13, here's the SE info:

Was thinking of reserving it at Gamestop, did anyone get BC special edition at midnight with no hiccups at a GS, or what do you recommend otherwise?Quote:
* World of Warcraft: The Wrath of the Lich King on DVD-ROM.
* The Art of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, a 208-page book featuring never-before-seen images from the game.
* An exclusive in-game pet: Frosty, the baby frost wyrm.
* A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, the Wrath of the Lich King intro cinematic with director’s commentary, and more.
* The official soundtrack CD, containing 21 epic tracks from the game, along with exclusive bonus tracks.
* A mouse pad featuring a map of the newly opened continent of Northrend.
* Two World of Warcraft Trading Card Game March of the Legion™ starter decks, along with two exclusive cards available only in the Collector’s Edition.
I did, was flawless and online by 12:15
Same as Chux, we stepped through the dark portal shortly after midnight and it was confirmed rad.
Probably doing the same again with WotLK.
Yeah
That will probably make up the cost of your regular game -> collectors edition btw if you sold it.Quote:

Since I do not play WoW, disregard post if this will not work.
So after reading about the "refer a friend" thing for the boosted XP, couldn't you technically install one of those $1.99 WoW disks that GS/Target/Walmart has and register that way or is Blizzard smarter than that?
The other person needs to purchase a copy of the game, and buy 2 month's worth of game time for you to receive your free month of play and the zebra mount. The account will be linked to yours and you receive the EXP bonuses that way.
if you want to boost an account you can use a trial and then get the most out of the 3x exp for 10 days.
I thought you had to party with the other player for the exp bonus?
I think you can just run 2 instances of WoW on one machine. Set one of your dudes to /follow.
Pretty much, though it makes zoning and shit a bit of a pain in the ass it's completely doable that way.
For the record, collector's edition stops being reservable at GS today.
Well shit, looks like I'm stopping by.
Dear God,
Please grant me the sanity to prevent myself from buying the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Please don't let me spend my days and nights with social rejects whose only real-life interactions occur around Dungeons & Dragons tables. Don't allow me to become beholden to cosplayers and furries in an unending game of paper-doll-pissing-contest dorkery. Please save me from this torture.
Love,
Garom - Level 70 Shaman Dragonmaw
Got my pre-order in. Dude at Gamestop was salty because they cut off pre-orders and he doesn't get paid til friday.
lolol
Isn't it $10 to preorder?
Dude couldn't afford $10 before getting paid?
Even I could afford to put money down! Granted, I shouldn't have. But I did. The CE package sounds nice.
I'm really interested in the Developer commentary, blizzard has some incredible minds.
That's what she said.
Everyone who plays this shit on TNL needs to get into RF when the playing field will be once again level at the start of WotLK, and we need to blow this expansion the fuck up.
As a guild we've always subscribed to the philosophy of playing as little as possible to get the most done. While we've done really well, we've always been held back from finishing the endgame by the fact that people who are really good (aside from our core of mainly TNL players) want to raid like 6 nights a week, which is ridiculous. The casual people that fit our schedule better tend to suck, so it's easy to see how that leads to problems.
Our raiding roster has changed time and time again, which means relearning content and a bunch of other bullshit. It's always slowed us down and it's kind of frustrating, since WoW is such an easy, easy game to play.
Point is, if you're TNL and you're any good at all come play this shit with us. There won't be a set schedule until enough of us are level 80, at which time we might revert to our current schedule (Mon and Weds from 7pm to 11pm server time aka EST) or modify it depending on what's going on. It might start out with more nights depending on how many people are interested in that sort of thing, but if we have enough members then you wouldn't necessarily be raiding every single night anyway.
If you want to raid like 6 nights a week go get some other hobbies or human interaction, then cut down the raiding and play with us.
You guys are Horde, right? If you're not, I can transfer my Shaman alt over when he's done, which with leveling with the Mrs with refer-a-friend's retarded xp bonus, should be by the end of the month tops. Glad they opened PVE -> PVP transfers.
Your schedule is amazingly perfect for me. My current guild will be raiding Tues/Sunday/maybe Thurs and I will probably be the only main mage in a guild of 14 people so I doubt my Shaman would get any time. And being in a guild so small, it'd be cool to see the 25man versions with you guys.
And I don't suck. Well, I don't on my mage anyway.
No, we've been alliance for like 3 years now.
Yeah with refer a friend it's pretty damn easy to get up in levels, more than enough time to do so before the expansion hits.
I'll come over, but like I was telling Chux most of my decent gear was trashed, and I'm a tank pally spec, but I haven't kept up at ALL with any of the patches or whatever in like years.
I also don't even have an epic flying mount. And I'm not going to bother playing until the week of release. My old guild has new ownership now and most of my irl friends have left, even though my Pally mentor is now the guild leader. Oh, and they became #1 on the server, but seriously none of that fucking matters now that most of my friends are gone.
