Which robe did you get? I'm probably really jealous.
Mage drop from Illidan.
Ew ew ew
Just like with BC, gear doesn't matter anymore
Grats on killin Illy RF.
Just stick to reviewing Heroes Despair.
I need one more piece of T6 for the FUCK AWESOME four piece bonus. Probably won't get it before WOTLK, but oh well
Maybe you'll get legs from Council tonight. I'm one piece away as well, maybe a Protector chest will actually drop this time.
Narche needs to lose his gross shoulders.
I got my ass some T5 shoulders last night in my first ever run of Tempest Keep.
I know it's no T6, but considering when I started playing and where my guild left off I'm pretty happy to have seen the content.
If you joined RF, you'd have seen Kael - who is probably the best fight in BC and way better than Loot Reaver
Opaque, just give in. Roll a DK on SH and never look back.
You won't regret it.
You guys still want new members? I've started playing again a bit in anticipation of the expansion. Everyone I know has stopped playing, but I only have a hordie left. Are there enough leveling boosts implemented now to make it worth it? - I have a feeling all the RFers will be done with it by the time I get someone to 70 (and then 80 : (
We want an all TNL guild so we don't have to deal with flakey assholes, please please join.
The new patch drastically reduced the amount of experience needed to level from 1-60 and from 60-70. If you start now you can easily be 60 by the time the expansion hits.
We need dependable healers.
Also GT did a pretty damn good Restrospective which does well to highlight why Blizzard is one of the greatest video game companies ever made.
I unfortunately can't play as much as I'd like thanks to the household vagina, but if you want a leveling partner (I've got a range of alts from like 24-62) or need to be run through an instance just ask. Besides, if you can make 50s by the expansion you'll have some DKs to hook up with.
You like Shamans, right? Right?
Sounds good. I've played through a shaman before, but never went resto spec. I like the class. Who should I msg for some cheapo bags? : ) I hate starting from scratch.
I can make you shit too, start up!
Yeah Kael fight is one of my most epic fights i've encounter in WoW next to Neffy IMO.
The speach is a bit long, but it's all part of the show. Really well designed, when I made the vid for our guild just had to use epic music for it. Love the part after you kill his minions for the second time he goes in the air and the entire place starts to break off, hectic stuff.
Ran an SSC tonight with the same people and had another nice clear.
The only piece I needed out of that whole place was my T5 helm and I won the second one rolled for on a sudden death roll of epicness. It looks like I get to roll Hyjal with the main guys next week and if I do well I can go to BT with their clear crew.
Here's hoping.
NSHDC
NSHDC
The fights really arent even remotely tough anymore. Kael used to be a 15 minute fight, thats the Kael I'm talking about.
Hyjal was already a joke pre-3.0 so I'm sure you'll destroy it. Archimonde is still wipe-able depending on how many tards you bring.
In BT now.
Crossing my fingers for loot.
KEEP US UPDATED!
No.
Yeah the patch made T6 content like Hyjal and BT jokes... we had no game plan at all for most of the bosses, just zerg them until they die and it worked =/
The exceptions were the Illidari Council and Illidan's second stage with the Flames.
T5 is now a complete cakewalk that you have to put about 0 effort into, our server has shitty, horrible people constantly pugging SSC and TK full clears every week. There should be no sense of accomplishment from killing any bosses post-nerf. I'm kind of sad we never got to do the real Illidan encounter and had the super nerf dies in one demon form or less version.
The only consolation we can offer ourselves is fighting Malygos on the backs of 25 goddamn red dragons:
Skip to the six minute mark for the interesting stuff.
Holy shit that fight looks awesome.
Exciting stuff!
That looks amazing.
Downed Illi tonight.
Didn't win any gear but I'm happy going into Lich with only Sunwell not under my belt.
I can't fucking wait. I got all my shit for my DK together and I'm going to burn through 58-70 as fast as I possibly can with out sacrificing my dignity anymore than it has been.
To all you folks still on the fence or who are still considering coming back to WoW: This is your best opportunity. When WotLK starts we're starting a somewhat more serious approach to raiding, so the sooner you get in on this hot RF action the better. Even if you start as a level 1 nothing, we promise to keep the ridicule to a minimum.
I'm was planning on jumping back into it today, since I'm on vacation this week. And guess what? Servers are down.
Tuesday Maintenance this is not a new fucking occurrence.
I know it's a long shot but is anyone on TNL Horde, worth a damn, unhappy with their guild and not bothered about transferring?
I'm going to be running a new guild, breaking off with some friends from the old one. Not because Jimmy didn't get the piece of gear he wanted or anything dramariffic like that but because of some truly shady behavior on the part of our old leadership. Things like selling the pattern for http://thottbot.com/i34364 that dropped back in August to a caster from a rival guild instead of rightfully awarding it to ANY of ours. Just sketchy stuff that got out of hand.
We'd initially planned on just doing 10 man raiding with our core but dissatisfaction with the old guild along with interest from friends from our old server has swelled our ranks quite a bit - but not enough to have a reliable roster for 25 man raiding. So we're looking for some good people to fill in the blanks. Healers being the most needed and, oddly, we don't have any hunters either.
The tag is The Crazy Eighty Eight, realm is Exodar and guild leadership finished BC, even Sunwell through and including KJ. I was a go to raid leader in our previous guild so I do have experience, while kinks should realistically be expected and will be worked out. Loot is decided on by loot council with a rule that any Os with vested interest in the item, personal or otherwise, will not be allowed into the decision making process.
If interested, PM me here or make an alt on Exodar. My character name is Stormbringer.
While I'm relatively happy with Destromath business right now, my guild has never been serious about raiding and I don't know how serious we'll get with Lich King. I'd like to actually see endgame content before the next expansion rolls around this time, so I might be starting a char on SH sooner rather than later. Being that WotLK is the only game I'm buying for some time, I need to get back to having fun with this stuff pronto.
Also, I got the GameStop midnight launch phone call a few hours ago and wow, that was disgustingly cheerful.
Yeah, the world event or whatever's happening in Stormwind apparently broke shit. Shattered Hand has been down for hours.
Left 4 Dead is fun, try that!
The people I know getting this shit at midnight tomorrow make me laugh.
The servers are down all day because of one small event in two cities. You really think you're getting on at 1AM Thursday morning? Fuck that.
P.S. Shit must really be broke, four hours ago they promised an update within two hours.
Yeah I was going to check on some 7/11's today to see whats up but realized it's probably not worth it (especially since I'm working at 5AM on thursday) and got release-date shipping from Amazon.

Guys let's be reasonable here. You're Alliance. I rolled on SH on BC launch night with the intent of snagging an invite but watched about four seconds of the Draenei run before just logging out in the starting zone.
If I was going to transfer servers it would be to hang out with Curtis and his Sunwell clearing folk, not a bunch of guys that finally downed Illi about a week before I did it in a pug.
Owned
It's your loss, good luck with your broken guild on a broken server run by fat gay dudes in tight leather, and stupid loot for the stupid horde who are faggots who don't bathe.
If my guild goes the way we're hoping I won't need to transfer to be rolling in the best gear in the game.
We bathe.
Srsly, big fightin words coming from the guy who talked about his first trip into TK like it was a journey through wonderland less than 2 weeks ago.
He left because the GM was loot whoring, atleast it sounds that way. What I'm saying is we have a good enough group that we should be able to keep up with content.
I'm just saying, I played for six months and completely caught up with you guys in terms of content and I sure as shit did not walk into a guild that was already there.Quote:

I want to be in a guild that clears Lich's equivalent of Sunwell and if I can't get that where I am I'll go somewhere I can. RF sounds fun and all, but you guys are no Aurora and that's what I'm trying to find. Maybe I'll roll a DK on your server one day for giggles.
*remembers Halo 2*
You're probably better off NOSH.
You want to be a serious raider?
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I'm not really taking this as serious as Halo 2.
At the same time, if I'm on this game four nights a week, why not raid during that time?
I like the Draenai. :(
p.s. If you're choosing based on visual awesomeness you better be a Troll. What I'm saying is you don't care who you play with as long as you get gear.Quote:

I'm just saying, you did all your catching up during the same nerf that gave us the last half of one instance, which we then farmed like mad. Quit trying to front rampantly until you can break forums with the Ashes of A'lol.Quote:

How did you farm it like mad when it's only reset like two or three times since your first clear?
Three times how many times did you do it? is mad farming?
I will never get that mount, I'm sure.
Also I'm not worried about gear beyond getting good enough gear to see end game content. If I was running Sunwell now I wouldn't be stressing on winning every drop, I would just care about clearing the whole thing. Word on the street is that place is pretty awesome, and it sucks that I will never be able to experience it properly. I don't want that to happen this time around.
I'd tell you about how Blizzard was all "Sunwell was overtuned and we're going to stop making instances for superguilds-only since they'll beat shit on day one no matter what" but everything you've been posting makes me think you'd steal our guild bank right before applying to Nihilum.
Ha! That's what I am. When I made him it was really just a random shot (I was Alliance and my gf at the time said we should make trolls) and I think had I gone with orc or anything else I wouldn't have had a problem with the draenei. Since then though I've gotten used to how my troll moves, great attack animations, and anything else just doesn't feel right. Even throwing on the Broken costume while killing Al'ar, for whichever t6 attunement that was, blew. The rest of the races that are options for me just kind of feel stiff by comparison.
Re: Sunwell
KJ is worth going back for sometime on your trip to or when you guys are 80. The other fights were quite a bit of fun but since the patch they've been dumbed down to dps bursts. Kalec was a great fight that required the coordination of everyone involved and now it's a 2 minute burst down where I only have to take one portal even if I'm the first to get it. Twins was stupid and random pre-patch and while I'm happy to have downed them before it, I'm glad it's just a burst. M'uru, too, went from being a real test for any guild to being over before he has the chance to do anything. KJ is still a great experience though. He will still kick your ass and his spawn and death animations are amazing.
If the reason you play WoW, is to be rolling in the best loot in the game as soon as you possibly can, and that in turn over shadows your desire to play in any situation that might actually be more fun, then well, lets just say I'm glad for you that you didn't play Vanilla WoW, as any endgame guild master would have kicked you out of their guild for even mentioning you had personal goals in the game. You rolled your character right in time to take advantage of the easy epic era.
In other words, you're a loot whore.
P.S. This is why no one wanted to play Halo with you.
You never once had to run an unerfed 40 man therefore you will always be behind them, and myself, in content.
Yes, three clears right off. I suppose I should've phrased that differently since we'd be farming the first few regularly for a while (mostly stuck because we were slowed by Arch attempts before going rogue tank), but yeah. And TK, Hyjal, BT, etc.Quote:
Word on the street is that place is pretty awesome, and it sucks that I will never be able to experience it properly.
Look, you're enjoying the game (which is the point) and all, I just find it funny that you were all, "I want to do all the toughest stuff!" right off having a good time only fighting stuff at half-strength.Then I cannot argue with your choice. Good man.Quote:

Maybe I don't understand loot whoring, and somehow it's a really poorly chosen name for someone who wants to see content and instances as they happen instead of being stuck, but if it's what I think it is then you guys calling me a loot whore is just wrong.
Also, you're crazy if you think that I'm going to join a guild filled with people I don't like just to get to end game, but you're also crazy if you think I'm going to play with bad people (not necessarily you guys) just because they are the funniest fuckers on that planet.
And for the record, people did want to play Halo 2 with me, my clan and tons of people who knew who we were. I probably put hundreds of kids on ignore because they sent me messages begging to get into our clan or a big team or a whatever back in the day. The problem is you guys somehow think we never had fun in Clan matches (which is silly since not one of you was ever there) because we took is serious, but you couldn't be further from the truth. Playing with my clan in that game is hands down the funnest experience I have ever had with a game. TNL Clan was fun and I'm sure we could have had fun being mediocre forever, but it was a lot more rewarding having the same level of fun with guys who could help me advance further.Quote:
P.S. This is why no one wanted to play Halo with you.
I'm looking for that in WoW. I've been in the Catalyst vent a lot over the last month and while I don't know any of those guys yet and it's not necessarily fun for me yet, they sounds like they are having just the most fun all the time. Constant jokes and chatter. My friend Chris who joined them and ran Sunwell for the last month with them said it's the same way in there; they are serious about doing the raiding and they do everything the right way, but the entire time it's fun and relaxed.
That's what I'm going for.
P.S. I just realized you guys probably think it's all about loot because I said we'd be rolling in the "best loot in the game" in response to Trial, but I only said that because he said "stupid loot" not because it's my main objective. Way to take something he started and turn it all over on me.
You know the people in RF from TNL can handle anything the game throws at you, it's not a hard game at all compared to most of the shit we play. The only reason we've ever struggled with content is because we're really small, and pretty much need everyone to show up in order to run a 25 man. I really wanted more dependable people from TNL who can help me out in an officer capacity or at least just as a dependable raider to come over now that the game is basically resetting... one less slot to worry about.
We've had plenty of mercs come, take loot, and eventually leave. Lots of people quit for school or marriage or other irl reasons. We used to be like 50% female until we realized they were like 90% of all loot and guild drama and lost them all one by one. We've had our MT leave on a bunch of occasions, knocking us back hard on content. We pretty much didn't start 25 man content until December of last year to be honest, and have taken a lot of months-long breaks from raiding during which we lost even more people.
Point is, we downed everything in a 25-man up to Bloodboil before the nerfs in about one to two attempts per boss (except Archimonde, fuck some people) raiding about 8 hours a week. We're good enough to do that, and I like that.
Just because you log on everyday to do some light shit for a bit doesn't mean that you want to log on and commit to a raid for that night. If you want to raid 4-5 nights a week then no, you will never be happy in RF. All I know is that everyone who has played wth us and later quit the guild for epics or other stupid reasons, pretty much without exceptions here, has quickly realized how shitty and boring the game gets when you take away that element of friendship and humor start playing for other reasons.
We have been pretty much whittled down to a core of great people at this point, so we're starting off WotLK in a much better position that with the bloated mess of unskilled raiders we had to keep around coming into BC.
But yeah, no drama, no loot whores. No people who talk a lot of shit about how good they are and how many bosses they've killed when I call them out for making a mistake. Very few people under 20 and nobody who types like a 15 year old girl text messages. I think we're doing ok (except for Bugout and Rohane).
See I wouldn't be happy with months long breaks. It's fine if you guys are, more power to you, but I don't turn on WoW to not play it and I have never understood why other people do.
Look its the bragging dude, its just the bragging. I understand you think you know what raiding is all about. But allow me to explain, that being the first in those instances is something none of the shit you have currently admitted to doing could even remotely prepare you for.
Are you capable of it? I'm sure you are. I'm not attacking your abilities as a player, and Mzo is right, if you want to raid 5 nights a week, then you probably wouldn't fit in there. But the fact that you put requirements on who you will spend your time with playing this game when you yourself don't understand what that means, well its just going to make you miserable.
And yes that makes you a loot whore. When you play a game like this, a game that involves so many other people, and a lot of them are seemingly people you know, for almost exclusive personal gain, well then you are pretty much a loot whore. You can use the term Progress whore as well if it makes you feel more comfortable, but ep's guess is pretty much correct. I wouldn't trust you with a guild bank, an officer's position, or a main raid responsibility now that I know your mind, for the creeping paranoia that you would up and leave for a further progressed guild would pretty much never go away.
P.S. You probably shouldn't refer to RF as casually and dismissively as you have. The only reason they didn't progress as far as possible in the expansion was the growing annoyance from their roster of players who had already been through the whole hardcore raid thing well before TBC came out, TBC's raids never reached level of interest and complexity of Vanilla WoW raids. In other words, they burned themselves out for awhile.
And no, I'm not in RF Opaque.
For the record:
- I'm an officer in my guild and a damn good one.
- I've donated every mark, shard, essence, primal and what have you I have got for the last four or five months to the guild bank to help with guild enchants and progression. I also offer free glyphs to everyone in the guild, all mats are provided by me regardless of cost.
- I do my job in raids. Every time, no exceptions.
The fact that you take my desire to see this game through as a negative in regards to my character, integrity and group mentality is foolish.
Stop being stupid.
That's the community aspect some people miss out on, I think.
Didn't you start playing recently? I don't think you saw the full cycle of BC from beginning to end, maybe that would help you understand why people can get burnt out on raiding. The Gruul you killed was probably at least the third version of the boss, using Kara gear that was significantly buffed, T4 gear that was buffed, and maybe some badge gear that didn't exist back when Kara was far more difficult than it has been for over a year now and didn't drop badges, back when heroics were really hard and raid bosses who were tuned crazy hard and dropped ONE piece of T4/T5 per kill.
So yeah, to me it's clear why people take breaks while Blizzard uses the rest as beta testers to tune their content until it's good to go. Hopefully with the 10 and 25 man simultaneous progression there might be more to do, and like Ed said they're not tuning encounters for the super hardcore raids anymore so maybe it'll be better.
Say I do roll a character on SH. What classes does RF need right now?
RF is pretty laid back about your choice, we only ask that once you have put yourself into a role, that you stick with it. With the new raid compositions and DPS balancing, you can do what you want with whatever class you want...just be aware that if you wanna go say, from ret pally to prot pally when you already have a ton of ret gear, you'll probably take a DKP hit of some sort.
That said, we love dependable healers. But seriously, roll with what you like.
I've always meant to try the whole healing thing, though I haven't a clue what class is most desirable for it these days. I know prot and holy pallies are crying about being casualties of the ret nerf and all, and people talk about druids doing better healing than priests now, but I don't know too much about that. On my server I went ret right when I hit 70, and the patch landed a few weeks later, but I don't think I wanna do that all over again. Healing could be an okay time, I think!
When is RF planning on raiding WotLK? That's really the biggest hold up on me possibly coming back, as I can still only viably make raids on Saturday nights (possibly Friday's but that's a bit tougher).
We're holding to our routine of Monday and Wednesday nights, though for early on we can try and shoot for a third night. We've reshuffled the officers around, so it's possible that some of us might do some 10-man raid nights during other nights of the week when we're not doing 25-mans, sort of like Sam's Tuesday Kara runs.
None of those are even remotely possible for me. :(
So when the server came back up a bunch of shit was busted for PVP vendors, I got a full set of Merc, Two Rings and a Guardian Necklace for free.
It's pretty funny.
We don't have any scheduled raid nights yet, and probably won't until the new endgame. I'll pay attention to our best days while the guild levels and work off those.
just remember Opaque, you're talking about a fucking videogame, not a trip to europe lol.
ps I'm hardcore, I finished Doom with god mode on. I'm as good as anyone who has finished Doom.
There's a reason why RF is one of the oldest active guilds on the oldest server in the game; and faggot assed serious business Sunwell clearing guilds burn, fade, regroup, and explode on a day to day business.
You think we're bad, but we have some amazing players; we have probably the best rogue on the server. But he stays with us because we provide what those scrub guilds cannot.
You're already fucking elitist and you've been raiding for like a couple of months; soon you will learn the retardation of clearing the same instance over and over just to give your little paper doll prettier clothes. The grind will get to you, the lust for purples will eat away at you, you guild will explode from some ewhore flirting with your virginal guildleader or from someone gearing up their 3rd alt over the new druid in craftables.
Mzo, Dave, epmode, etc. are all fucking veterans of this game; and you're talking to us like we're some shortbus guild because we're not the pinnacle of PvE content? You have a lot to learn my friend.
RF has been held back by two things:
* Girls who use A & D to turn.
* Lack of TNL people.
I am only saying this shit to you to keep you from burning the bridge you'll eventually wanna cross man.
The only one being stupid here is you for not realizing how people are perceiving your elitism. If I was the only one saying this shit Opaque, you'd have a leg to stand on, but I'm not. You are not talking to players who possess an inferior knowledge of the game than you, but you keep acting like it.
Its nice that the current nerfed into oblivion raids drew you in and now you wanna hang with the big boys, but you really are doing RF, myself, and to a lesser extent Curtis a disservice by suggesting that you have some superior knowledge of the game than we do. So please stop comparing your accomplishments with ours. When you're the first to clear Naxx and get all the pieces of your Tier 7, you can talk all the trash you want. But this flirting with your elitist, loot whoring side, is kill your case.
Eh forget it.
Whatever. Astro summed it up perfectly anyway, so I'll just default to him.
That free Season 2 thing was pretty fucked up I'll say. Had a blast for a few hours pretending I gave a shit about PvP.
OK, so when you've killed Arthas; for like the 11th time and his Scepter of the Frozen Nigger Wastes or whatever caster staff doesn't drop when you have the DKP; and in your rage you put on Death Cab for Cutie and start floor punching; please have the balls to come here and tell us that the purple fire rages in your heart. I MUST FIGHT IT. And you really didn't care about "experiencing" the Arthas encounter for the 11th time.
Seriously, I killed Nef probably 20+ times. It wasn't just for the fun of seeing people who forgot their Ony cloaks get toasted. I WANTED DEM PURPLES.
Just be honest with yourself; you're a loot whore, we all are to some degree.
Wow glitched tonight, and the entire merciless gladiator set for locks and priests is currently free, along with some pvp trinkets and a ring.
We need to send them all to the Supression Room where they belong, Chux, amirite?
I've seen. Dave called me when it happened haha.
P.S. Dave tried to have me killed when I told him we got a Binding nearly every AQ40 run (If I remember we got 7 total).
The most entertaining thing in that video is watching Despair's wife running around everywhere.
THAT'S HOW I ROLL SON
For anyone who wasn't there, that was our first night getting to Huhuran. We had very close to no nature resist so we sent an away team to craft as much as we could from the bank and AH then return, and we downed her on our second try. It was pretty rad.
Looking back I don't know how we ever dealt with 40 man raids, holy shit that is a lot of people. Most of them were pretty terribad too.
PS - they are taking away all the shitty, super old S2 gear people stoled.
Best part of 40 mans was just competing against 40 other people, but that's way too many people to deal with.
lol man at these last couple of pages.
Fuck it, Ginormous Post Incoming !!!
Damn, the good ol days. We had some fucking FUN back in the game. And I do miss some of it even now. Its like a burning at the back of your mind, of the high you had, but just cant have anymore. But even if I would begin anew, it wont be the same again.
I do agree that girls were somewhat a problem in the game. Landish was a good player and awesome healer, but with the horrible lack of coordination. WOW was a fucking first game she ever played aside from puzzles.
The grind for rep, gear, loot whoring (yes, the gear IS important part of my style of play, like it or not. I did has some bad episodes of that, I am not proud of, but again, I always gave my best to the game when I was there. And I know that we taken a lot of shit for this both in face and behind our backs).
RF changed a lot since those days, and I applaud them for actually pushing forward, and not getting tired of same old thing 4 years after it was released.
I was too hardcore thinking for RF, at the times of the beginning of TBC 25 man raiding, pushing and kicking, trying to get things going, and it all was eating my in game soul. Some of the family related drama stuff didn't help either. Funny, I started having more fun with friends outside of the RF (some we did brought in), than with core RF crew :( And that was time for quits.
Looking back, it was for the better, but just as I said in the beginning of my lengthy, whiny posting, I do miss this fucking thing. DJ laughs at me too.
With Lich King, I am fucking drawn to the info, and look, I am even here, writing a fucking reply about this. But unlike Yoshi, Russian Will is Strong, and I will just go waste my time in Warhammer Online instead. LOL
