Not that anyone noticed but I haven't been around here for the past month or so. I was busting my ass making a lead into a job at MS a reality. Me, Mr anti-MS, now works for them, oh the irony.
Anyway, so I'm going to be living in Redmond in just over two weeks. Anyone live in the area? Any general advice? Places to check out? Any good music venues (other than the Gorge)? Any good arcades (please say yes)?

what kind of job did you get there? i read in the last year alone they hired 3800 new people. i went there 4 years ago. my buddy used to work with the WinForms team. i fell absolutely in LOVE with the area and the company. the campus just has a vibe where i know it wouldn't seem like a "job" everyday.Quote:

I'm going to be a developer on the SQL Server Reporting Services team. Which is 5 different projects all related to generating reports against data sources, and roughly speaking is MS's competitor against Crystal Reports. In particular it looks like I will be working on the main management web app. To an outsider it probably sounds dull as can be, but technology wise this team is awesome because they pretty much use everything, especially all the latest .NET goodies.
And yeah I'm totally stoked for the job. I can't wait. The campus is really nice and I agree, the whole time i was there I just got a really good vibe from the people and everyone struck me as very intelligent (which is to be expected, I hope I can keep up)
PAX and many trips to the Gorge are already planned :)
