Hey man, everyone's entitled to their own opinion . . . even though yours is wrong.

Watched a download of this last night. I am going to lump myself into the crowd of "enjoyable but not amazing." The cops and Fogle were the best parts George Michael and Seth were both pretty funny. I like that this movie actually had them go to the party and actually get drunk in attempts to get laid. Most movies would have them take the high road... which they both kind of did in the end. Seemed a bit more real that way I guess.
As for being "This generations fast times" or whatever... Eh, I suppose it's the closest thing we've had. But I think titles like that should be thought about in retrospect. I was trying to think of what movie best represents teen life in each decade. The 50s/early 60s had American Graffiti (Made in the 70s), I can't really think of a late 60s one, the 70s have Dazed and Confused (made in the 90s), the 80s have Fast Times or... 16 candles maybe, the 90s... Hm. Can't Hardly Wait? I've always been a bit of a faggot for that movie. Something to think about I guess. But I guess Superbad holds the title for now.
Panama is the best song ever, by the way.
No, you're right. The 90s had Can't Hardly Wait. That was definitely the 90s decade movie.
Yeah, because American Pie didn't come out.
Can't Hardly Wait falls into that large cast of characters over the period of one night. that's why I say 16 Candles for the 80s rather than Fast Times. American Graffiti, Dazed and Confused, 16 Candles, Can't Hardly Wait, and now, Superbad all take place in one day and... have essentially the same plot.
American Pie is more like Fast Times than Superbad is like Fast Times.
Fair enough.
What Mr-K said.
My girlfriend and I actually had this arguement last night after watching Superbad. Except she nominated 10 Things I Hate About You as the quintisential 90s teen movie. Which I haven't seen, so the only way to settle this is to rent and watch both that and Can't Hardly Wait. So basically my night will be spent as a 13 year old girl in 1999.
10 Things I Hate About You is classic, but doesn't define the 90s as well as Can't Hardly Wait. Based on Taming of the Shrew. Some awesome one liners in that movie. The young sister in that movie is goddamn tasty.
Can't Hardly Wait has everything.
Guys, this is good discussion, I made a thread for it, so that we could continue on without polluting the superbad thread.
