On my way to Indy for Gencon. This will be the nerdiest con I've ever been to. Board games and D&D for 4 straight days.
I thought that I had just over a week off between semesters. WRONG. I have just over two weeks without classes.
So I knew I would be getting a promotion but I didn't know when it would be. My manager thought we needed to wait for a posting to get listed through out the company before we could even start my paper work, because that's company policy, which meant it could have been a month out or even longer. I just didn't know.
Then yesterday my regional manager shows up and talks to me for about ten minutes about the position, what I've thought about training and how I think I'll do when I eventually move up and after talking to her totally casually like I always do she out of nowhere tells me the she approves my promotion as of yesterday and we're going to retro my pay so I get the increased pay for this entire week. So it's done, I get better hours, I wear normal clothes two days a week and I'm getting $13 an hour now with a promise to work with my school schedule.
Not bad for a job to get my through the next two years of college, I'm really happy. There's also a lot of room to move up into corporate HR with HUGE pay increases once I get my degree, so I'm going to try and use this next two years to get the experience I need to make myself look like an awesome person for internal promotion.
Semester's over and Glenfiddich is opened. I am enjoying this.
is that some kind of harry potter shit?
It makes me sad you would think that.
