This game in no way is better than IV. If you think it is you probably liked VII too because of it's spicy plotline and awesum nex gen grafix!

FFVII is a great test to see if a person will be relevant in a gaming discussion.
I enjoyed VII back in the day, as did most people at the time.
It's an unplayable pile of shit now though.
XII is quite good though, and the gambits are actually quite good later in the game once you figure out how to use them.
I remember really enjoying VII when it hit. It was all I would talk about with my friends who were also playing it at the time. It's unplayable shit now. However I've played 4 & 6 at least a half dozen times each over the years (4 is tied with DW4 & Suikoden 2 as my all time fav JRPGs).
XII has been sitting on my shelf for like 2 years now. I really want to give it a shot but I'm scared I'll want to drop 100+ hours into it. Which I would have loved to do as a kid but now 20-30 hours seems to be about the max I can invest into a non-multiplayer game without getting bored.
While it hasn't aged well at all, unplayable shit is quite a stretch. I've been playing it again and there's still a lot to like, unfortunately it takes a lot of digging to get through.
It certainly shouldn't come close to topping "best games of all time" lists as often as it does, but neither should that turd Ocarina of Time either.
