Will hit 50 today. Thanks to Cap/Bacon/Necro for last night's carnage.
Got 50 and found that last Claptrap.
It was in Crazy Earl's Scrapyard. There's an easily-overlooked fork to a huge section I'd never noticed, because no mission ever sends you there.
I'm gonna start playing right now if anyone is interested.
finished first play last night and started up the second. They pull no punches this time around!
2nd playthrough is the real deal, especially with 4 players.
Made 50!!
Mad 50 as well. Stopped right before fighting vagina face.
Destroyer is a bitch solo on the second playthrough. Not really difficult, just takes an absurd amount of damage to kill. I am a little disappointed that nothing ever comes of ninja clap trap.
Should be getting some DLC very soon it seems.
If it is big enough in scope, this could be awesome. I'd love to see increase in lvl cap, new weapons obviously and new abilities.Quote:

Borderlands' barren wasteland setting isn't the only aspect of the game that's following in Fallout 3's radiation-bathed footsteps; like Bethesda's game, it's also going to play host to a series of post-release, downloadable add-ons. Gearbox announced today that "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned" will be the first of several planned DLC expansions for Borderlands.
According to the press release, this Dr. Ned fellow was in charge of keeping the workers of Jakobs Cove alive. Through what sounds like some sort of well-intentioned mishap, said workers have apparently been twisted into a mindless horde of undead horrors -- leaving it up to players to help Ned fight off the zombies, discover a cure, and retake the Cove.
This first add-on will go for $9.99 (800 Microsoft points) when it arrives on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC later this year. No word on what to expect from future Borderlands DLC as of yet, but we'll keep you updated.
Played the crap out of this yesterday and went from level 1 to 17 through the course of the day.
Now, why or what's up with having to do a 2nd playthrough?
You don't have to do a 2nd playthru, it is basically higher difficulty so you can get to level 50 faster.
LOL
My buddy and I are hooked on completing the in-game achievements rather than completing missions. We're so hooked we actually waste bullets to purchase ammo so we could reach 500 items purchased, which is 20,000 xp. My buddy got it last night, I'm close. I'm almost at 100,000 shots fired, which is also 20,000 xp.
Also..
..Awesome song.
If you like Cage the Elephant check out their album. Pretty solid. I really like the song In One Ear.
so I was undicided on what I'm picking up this thursday. dragon age or borderlands.dragon age looks interesting but the micro management aspect kind of it threw me off. borderlands sounds good from what I'm hearing so I sdecided on that. good choice??
You'll find out.
Is this worth playing single player?
As a rental maybe.
Fallout 3 and Borderlands are extremely different aside from setting. Combat is a billion times more enjoyable in BL, for one.
BL is combat/action focused, but it reminds me a lot of F3.
DLC is out! Anyone up for some co-op Zombie killing tonight?
shit already? I mean...really? This shit must have been near complete when the game went gold.
I really want to get this, but I am currently broke as shit. I plan on hopefully picking it up in Dec. some time though.
Also: currently addicted to MW2. Maybe later, Borderlands.
I'll get this next month sometime. Borderlands is a lot like the Left for Dead series for me. Only fun with friends, and even then it's still quick to become numbingly repetitive.
Looks pretty neat. I'm hearing it's about 5-6 hours of content.
Will buy.
I rented this for Mrs. Yoshi, and she can't put it down. Unfortunately, she is now asking for me to buy it, because she doesn't think it's fair to other people to keep it out long enough to see everything (We have the Blockbuster unlimited plan). God damn it.
dlc was rad, finished on playthrough 1 in about 5 hrs
also, this is 19.99 for pc at amazon and gs right now!
http://www.amazon.com/Borderlands-Pc...9343647&sr=8-3
http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/Prod...6GgMRGo3TuT5IQ
I'll buy it again when it is cheap and more DLC (raised level cap, hopefully) out.
I am in favor of someone whose finances are not tied to mine buying whatever they want.
guh, could people stop referring to this alongside F3? Aside from the gameplay being way different from each other, I'm getting sick of gaming mags/sites calling BL a "post-apocalyptic" romp. They're on an underdeveloped planet. If anything it's a sci-fi western.
Truth be told how you define it doesn't make a damn difference but it's irksome that so-called gaming "journalists" can't even get a game's damn setting right when I figured it out in the first 10 minutes of play.
It has major, major overtones of Road Warrior, which is post-apocalyptic. It's not that hard to figure out the comparison.
Yeah it's certainly more Road Warrior than Fallout 3 but uncultured journalists are going to say OH MAN IT'S JUST LIKE FALLOUT 3 (not 1 or 2).
It does remind me a little bit of F3, but plays way better. :)
Totally see Road Warrior. Although to me it feels as much a western as its planet-colonizing-oh-crap-no-gold-in-them-thar-hills-ghost-town backstory implies.
i love this fucking game. jpst or someone needs to coop the dlc with me playthrough 2. so many rare gun drops from zombeez
I plan on picking up the DLC later tonight, so I will be on.
DLC is pretty cool. Only problem is the frame rate can get pretty choppy when there is a lot of enemies or even just a handful. I do wish they increased the level cap though. Other than that, I am glad I got it.
I need some help with this. I can't kill pumpkin face all by my lonesome. Tonight anyone?
F'real? I could get on tonight for some co-op.
Got this for Christmas from my wife. It's everything I wish Fallout 3 was.
Played till 4 in the morning last night.
It also has a points-based skill system like Fallout 3 that determines how much damage you do, which works in-tune with how well you can aim your gun for accuracy. The comparison is a fair one. People getting their panties in a knot for comparing the two games are in denial or worried the comparison to Fallout 3 will drive people away. People who didn't like Fallout 3 will probably love this game. Because they went in to Fallout 3 EXPECTING something like this and got... well... VATS.
Borderlands has a much more visceral experience that I find FPS fans get more out of than Fallout 3. But the similarities are undeniable.
Since you're speaking in terms of gameplay, I can see those similarities. I don't like the folks who think because it looks barren and has Mad Max styling all over the place, the "OMG ITS POST APOCOLYPTIC LIKE FALLOUT"
Because, you know, it's not.
Hey semantics fags!
STFU.
I just started this game last night. It reminds me of Trigun more than anything else.
Yeah, good call on that.
More DLC is out!
Three new Riot Arenas
Bank to store items
Two additional skill points as mission rewards[3]
New game mode (ie. Horde/Firefight)
Quote:
Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot is an add-on pack for Borderlands that includes a new cooperative arena game mode and a stash to store your gear. Are you god's gift to gun fights? Think you're the best? Wanna prove it? Then help us celebrate the grand opening of Marcus Bank (a subsidiary of Marcus Corp) by killing hundreds and hundreds of people in Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, the only competitive arena around where your next of kin can be assured that you're coming back famous . . . or not at all.
lol @ charging for a bank in a loot game. DEE ELL SEE
so
I bought it anyway
DNG and I are going to need someone else to play the DLC. The enemies are level 50 already, so I am not sure if having 3 or 4 people will make it any (much) harder. Please get it ;p
pew pew pew gun wave
Not enough ppl getting this, so neither will I. I still need to beat the first DLC, and nobody seems to be playing that.
I'd be game for the first DLC but I still haven't maxed my character or started the second play through. Not sure if that matters as far as hanging with you uber 1337's in the borderlands.
Ill help you dudes max, 2nd playthrough was nothing special except for solo gun hunting. You can max and gun hunt better in co-op anyways
I just beat the first arena solo (after failing badly with a friend). So I have the following tips:
1. MAX OUT YOUR AMMO CAPACITY IN ALL WEAPONS.
2. Obviously, carry each type of weapon, except for pistols.
3. Know the lay of the land to exploit the AI.
4. You should probably use Lilith. She's the best for it.
5. When your health is low, RUN THE FUCK AWAY.
I only died once against a boss the hardened skull on. The other arenas are supposed to be tougher though.
Ok, bringing this over from the Steam thread, where I asked how the PC port was unimpressive-
Holy shit you guys weren't kidding! Did they even try to adapt this for PC? The menus are a mess, completely unoptimized with commands scattered all over the keyboard. There's no reason other than lazy-assed incompetence for not resizing the ridiculously large menu fonts. These were made to be viewed on an SD tv, not a monitor.
Thank god it's a great game, because the menu presentation is pure crap.
James
You will get slaughtered on Zombie Island at Level 32, unless the enemies scale WAY down. Even the fodder enemies were at Level 42 and 43 when I started. On the upside, if you go with a high-level partner or two, you will level up very quickly. Just don't expect to do anything for a while other than get your ass repeatedly saved.
Edit: And send me a friend request. I'm always down for Borderlands....unless I'm playing Bayonetta.
I started Zombie Island at 35 and I haven't had much trouble yet playing it solo.
[edit]
But I'm playing as Lilith and most of the time when a zombie touches me it sets itself on fire and dies very quickly.
I guess they do scale down then, although Level 32 sounds awfully low.
Aim to finish Zombie Island before any more DLC. Level 43 Soldier, add me up if you wanna play (I'll play high, low level whatever).
I'll play some zombie island.
More DLC! + Level Cap increase!

Gearbox confirms next add-on to double-platinum RPG/FPS hybrid will raise level cap, be larger than the previous two.
With reviewers, Borderlands' downloadable content record currently stands at 1-0-1. The first add-on to the acclaimed "role-playing shooter," The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, was a hit with critics--who weren't quite as hot on DLC #2, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot.
The other Pandora's population is about to increase.
Now comes word that Gearbox Software's plan to regularly update Borderlands with DLC is moving ahead full steam. In a post on the game's official forums, level designer Jason Reiss revealed that the Dallas-area developer is readying a third-add-on for the game--which will be its largest yet.
"This is the biggest DLC we have made," declared Reiss after teasing, "Level cap increase anyone?" He offered neither a release date or a reveal date, saying only, "Hopefully we can get a full announcement out to you guys soon."
Even without the new expansion, Borderlands has exceeded industry expectations. After being written off by top analysts as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 cannon fodder, the all-new property proved an international hit. As of December, it had sold over 2 million units worldwide, according to publisher Take-Two Interactive--which is grooming it to be a "major franchise."
Eh, I traded it in, gonna wait for the inevitable Game of the Year Edition for all the DLC.
I dunno if I should go this route...I only bought Zombie Island at this point, but I heard Moxie is pretty usless (loot box aside). So I dunno if trade + rebuy is a better idea than getting the cap increase DLC.
Moxxi was so bad they should give the next DLC out free to the people who bought the worthless arena garbage.
I'm glad I skipped it. Zombie Island was fun, but the whole arena thing did not appeal to me. But I admit that new mission-base DLC does.
I had fun with the arena stuff but it was really over priced, should have been about $3.
Isn't the cap increase a part of the updates and the DLC something else altogether? I know they are both coming out at the exact same time. I am skipping Moxxi for sure, but the Zombie DLC is fun, but I've only did a tiny portion of it.
What's the level cap? I beat it last night at level 34.
Cap is 50, there's a 2nd higher level playthrough.
Anyone else playing this? My buddy and I just got to level 23 this weekend and we could use two more people (maybe a Siren and Soldier) who wanna play.
I'm a Soldier, but lvl 46...
...still trying to finish Zombie Island and 2nd playthrough. Much more boring doing it alone though.
I am finally back home, so I game to play some Zombie Island. I haven't done much of it at all.
I don't have ZI but I'll play with anybody who wants to after work most nights.
I'll shoot you a text/phone call, Josh. You've actually played with my buddy Kevin (KarmatheStrange) before so it'll like L4D2 except without team damage.
Word up sister. I was pretty beat after work last night but tonight I will probably hop on. Let me know before hand if you wanna meet up.
We'll see. I don't like playing games when my roommate hovers around me.
stab him
Sound advice.
I should be on tonight. I'm level 21. I saw whoever A Pirate Lawyer is but he's pretty low in levels. I'd still take all comers, though.
I have Brick at lvl 42
I'm down to play. Anyone? Hello?
New DLC hits tomorrow! This is sudden!
I have a Brick at level 40 if anyone wants to play some on Wednesday or Thursday!
Nice!
This one looks super sweet!

Small Notes:
continues the story of borderlands
3 new vehicles (1 holds 4 people)
Mad Moxxi, Scooter, and Marcus confirmed in the dlc
new treasure chests
awesome new enemies
lv 61 cap
800 Points
Quote:
Borderlands already has a crazy awesome assortment of weapons and "The Secret Armory of General Knoxx" is going to be introducing even more. Some of the new weapons are so rare and so ridiculous that a new color rating higher than orange, called pearlescent, has been introduced to classify these new guns.
While these new weapons are super rare, there is one good source where you'll find the pearlescent weapons at more often than not. That source being a special boss character called Crawmerax the Invincible who appears after you've completed the main story in the upcoming DLC.
Good luck trying to defeat Crawmerax, though. This is the toughest boss you'll come across and it doesn't help that he's at level 64 while you're capped at level 61. A team of four will obviously be needed but it'll still be a pretty difficult challenge.
The battle is tough, but the potential payoff will be worth it. Truth be told, I'm really looking forward to all the people losing their sh*t through Twitter as people Tweet their frustrations. Check out our interview with Gearbox from earlier today for more info on Borderlands DLC.

The fact that Moxxi is involved almost makes me want to get the damned shit 2nd DLC to see her story.
Grrrr...
you really aren't missing much with her, best thing about it is having the ability to store items and weapons
pew pew pew gun wave
lol oh ok
So, it's really not worth it at all, huh? Man, I find that so crazy.
I don't believe this at all.Quote:

Yeah, I loved the main game, but the zombie DLC was extremely lacking, and the following DLC seemed even less worth buying. Like others have said, Game of the year editions with all the DLC or GTFO. and even then I wont pick the game up again until it is used. They royally fucked up the DLC possibilities they had with this game.
dude you crazy! I loved the Zombie Island DLC, I liked it more than the actual game....but that's just me
