Also: terrible credit, can only get stuff at places willing to overlook that in favor of gouging.
edit: and obviously combined with the reasons Gohan said instead of just not buying something they can't afford.

Just registered for my second PDX event. Did my first one last year and it was a blast. I'm doing the same track as last year so I hope to be faster.

Here's a vid from last year's event taken from my friend's STi. I get in the frame around the 4:40 mark (silver civic si).
Does anyone have any recommendations for good/trustworthy Minivans? I think the time has come for the girlfriend to trade in her car towards a Van. Not really looking for anything NEW, but something from like 2000-2006. I know some of you out there have some, help a brother out :)
We have 4 people now, so nothing huge. Might have 6 at some periods of time, plus friends or family we would cart around from time to time.
My family is a long time van user. We've used full sized Ford Club wagons since the 80s and gone through 4 (I think).
We never bothered with minivans. Though I do remember there being a fiasco in the 90s about how unsafe some of them were. Make sure to google safety and collision shit before you buy.

It was pretty common to just pull the seats out and use them like work trucks. If he made any major purchases, Pull the seats. He'd also pull a flatbed trailer with them. It was not uncommon to haul a little over 3 tons with one on any given weekend. One of the more interesting trips was hauling an old M135 back home with one.

My dad would still probably use one as a main vehicle had gas not gone up so much. They aren't horrible to drive for weekend labor at 2-3 a gallon. But at 4-5 a gallon, its murder on the wallet.
Another nice bonus with them is that you can usually get them pretty cheap out of Jackson and Memphis when hotels retire them. They rack up very few miles on simple city driving.
