I think I hit the Gabriel Knight train too late or something 'cause I found them kinda lame and boring. I played through Sins of the Fathers in '98 (read the novel that came with the collection, too), and The Beast Within right after (though I never finished it). At least that one was kinda entertaining in its FMV cheesiness.

Those screens look pretty, though. I don't know if I'll ever get bored of traditional adventure games. Even when they're stupid (like with GK), I still have fun.

Wow, this one's taking a while.

It's good to see at least one old Sierra legend still working in the genre (hell, the industry). All those guys got blackballed after the great genre crash. Al Lowe, Scott Murphy, Roberta Williams, all of them gone from gaming. I think Mark Crowe still works in the business, but not in a leadership role and not doing adventure games.

So this is actually coming out! ..in February. There was some drama about the retail price and it caused a delay.

But according to Adventure Gamers, it really exists, is playable and it'll have a full English voice track. And now that I've finally read up on it, it sounds rad. Newish screens are nice too.

All that's left is to hope for a good localization.

It's so weird that "localization" has become such an issue for American adventure games.

Speaking of which, did anyone play Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island? I saw it in GameStop the other day and had totally forgotten about it.

Grim Fandango is generally marked as the game that made people say the genre was over (a game that should have sold but didn't). So no, not really. I mean KQ8 was released a couple months after that, but it was death rattle. Roberta Williams hasn't done anything since then.

Wow, I had no idea that was even out. I love Germany for sticking with the genre but I just don't buy these things without a demo.

edit: The only review on Amazon says the writing and acting is sucks.

Autumn Moon is definitely 100% American. Some German money behind them, though.

I forgot about Ghost Pirates, too. I haven't been the mood for adventure games lately since I played so many in the past few years but I'll buy it some time after I'm done with the Monkey Island games. It didn't get the greatest reviews but I did like A Vampyre Story more than most so maybe it will be the same with Ghost Pirates.

Bought Ghost Pirates while in London awhile ago but the screen has issues scaling to 1080p (A Vampyre Story does as well) so haven't put much time in but I thought the acting was average, not atrocious..

Edit for content: The only GK game I played was Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned. I didn't even get passed the first story area because I was so put off by the funky control UI and generally how uninteresting everything was. I've heard that the second game was actually much more interesting, but these screens look intensely like the third game. Is it worth going back and playing the first two?
