I gotta say Cave as well (though my shmup knowledge is far from extensive). The trio of DoDonpachi, ESP ra.de. and Guwange is sooooooo quality. At one point I had played guwange to the point where I could one credit to the last stage, a little bit further and you get a full life bar charge. Good times.
I liked rez but it doesn't count. Who made Giga Wing?

Yep. It has a total of... I beleive 13 main ones. 10 shooters, 2 fighters, and the original game, which was a very different type of Arkanoid that was very fun.Quote:

The 6th was made for Windows, and it goes from there. Take Doom 2 and compare it to Doom 3. Similar (to a point) like the first 5 games, and the newer stuff. Which is comprised of the 6th game and up.

Treasure and Cave, but I'm definitely no expert. Can't go wrong with Bangai-O, Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga though.
