What happened was when I was overlookin the options, as I was scrolling down, the difficulty got switched from hard to medium. I swtiched it back to hard immediately and never even played on medium. Every second of gameplay was on hard. It's pretty lame that just switching the difficulty and then switchin it back before going back into the game causes you to not get the achievement, as in my case it was accident, and at the time i thought nothing of it. Doesn't really matter as the game is really really really easy even on hard when you know where things are and when they are going to happen.
Just beat it. Christ.
Does the Fontaine fight end differently if you don't save the sisters? I don't want to go back and find out immediately.
Shock 2 was definitely harder, and yeah, I was surprised that Bioshock let you get almost everything in one run, but I might place Bioshock over it anyway. The theme and characters are just that good. I'll need time to think about it.Quote:
So, how do you guys think it compares to System Shock 2?
I think Bioshock's better in terms of action, theme, and AI but SS2's got it beat in gameplay depth and challenge. The character upgrade choices in SS2 feel more important because it doesn't let you acquire nearly everything and store it in a bank. I like the inventory management too instead of being able to carry every weapon.
I think Bioshock's excellent, and in some ways the best FPS out there, but I would probably rank SS2 and Deus Ex above it.
Thats not the problem. The problem was the fact that you can change the difficulty on the fly in the options. As I was scrolling down to turn off subtitles, the difficulty accidently switched from hard to medium. Seeing as how I noticed this and chnaged it back before I unpaused, I though nothing of it. I can understand if I went into the actual game then back into the options to turn it back to hard, but as soon as it was changed to medium, I switched it back. I didn't think it would be an issue, nor should it be. I never played the game on medium so it should still give me the achievement.
It doesn't really matter though. I wanted to play my second time on easy or medium to just enjoy it without having to worry about anything. This is the case anyways playing through again on hard. I've already collected every audio tape up to Neptunes and a few there, which only comes to 20 something, but It's been a breeze. Took me less then half the time it did on my first go.
I'm intentionally doing the first run on Medium, and saving every Little Sister, but otherwise not worrying about finding every little thing. More enjoyable that way.
Then my second run will be on Hard, harvesting all the Little Sisters, and picking up every last Achievement I missed with a walkthrough if necessary. I figure that should balance things fairly well.
You can actually 1000/1000 Bioshock in a single playthrough. The achievements are varied and aren't too hard if you know what to look for. I'm playing on medium first to get everything, then I'll just blow through it on hard.
Thanks. Also, is it possible to miss the camera? I'm past the Medical Ward and I still haven't found it yet...
No, it isn't. And when you get it, take pictures of EVERY Splicer you fight. But don't take the picture of the same Splicer twice. That will garuntee you get all the research points. I made the mistake of forgetting to take pictures until the end, and missed out on a few of those. Mostly the turrets, cameras, bots, Big Daddys, and Little Sisters.
