lol. You don't even know the guys name, yet you want people to believe that everyone "hates him and no longer wants to work with him" without providing a source.

The Cult of Rapture has posted an update regarding the status of the, erm, update scheduled to seep into your PC and Xbox 360 copies of aquatic anarchy sim, BioShock. A patch (or "title update," as the Xbox Live euphemism goes) is expected to arrive next week, bringing with it free but as yet unspecified downloadable content. The undersea DLC will be bundled with the PC patch's TLC, and should be easy to see (provided you're not still on PCP) via the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Expect to read an exuberant and overwrought post on this very website as soon as we ascertain the nature of the mysterious downloadable content. New plasmids? Likely! Goomba skins for Big Daddies? Decidedly not.
From Kotaku, via Shacknews:

2K community manager Elizabeth Tobey tells Shacknews that the DLC will at least include extra plasmids for players to mess around with, a way to disable Vita-Chambers for hardcore play, and bug fixes.
Oh fuck yes. Hard Difficulty Hardcore Mode Savior run, here I come. :)
Nice. I still haven't played through this, but now maybe it'll be a good thing that I waited.
Just a warning, if you play it on hard without vital chambers there's going to be much bitching and cursing near the end of the game, but oddly enough I took down the final boss with barely a scratch. Save often. Some things are just plain cheap.
I'd rather the vital chambers have a price then be completely unusable.
Or just letting the enemies get their health back too would also work.
I never thought they were going to do an update, next week is going to rule.
As nice as this is, I already beat the game. No need to return for seconds.
I'd rather watch someone else play this than play it again. It's a sweet experience.
When I finished this game I was angry it was over. I wanted it to keep going for days, weeks more.
I adored this game. On my short list of the best of all time, and an epic moment in videogaming. The storyline, the enviroment, the gameplay, amazing.
But it has 0 replay value. I want to force myself through it again, but I just don't think it would be the same.
I'm curious, have you played System Shock 2?
eh. this DLC certainly won't force my hand to play the game again. pass.

In addition to the dash update, 360 owners will have another nice surprise waiting for them (as will their PC counterparts): a title update and new DLC for BioShock.
The title update includes some small fixes and one big one: A new widescreen FOV, the answer to some specific, antiquated prayers. The new content (just in time to refresh the memories of Game of the Year list makers) includes a plasmid pack (Machine Buster 1 & 2, Vending Expert 1 & 2, Sonic Boom 1 & 2, EVE Saver), the option to disable Vita-Chambers and a new, 100-point achievement called "Brass Balls." To get it, you'll just need to beat the game on hard without using a Vita-Chamber. No problem, right?
I hope that stuff isn't free on 360. I'd laugh my ass off.
Damn. Oh well. I guess those clowns already paid $10 more for less content.
I said I didn't care, but would do a re-run for a new achievement.
That's going to be a bitch of an achievement to get.
It's up right now. PC patch as well.
If you got the PC version from Steam, don't download the retail patch. Wait for Steam to auto-patch it.
I'm so glad I waited on playing too far into this one. Please tell me that the Machine and Vending plasmids make it so you dont need to play Pipe Dream over and over again.
Nice, been waiting for a reason to re-install this. Gonna do a nice vita-chamberless jaunt through hard mode.
The dashboard update on the 360 is awesome too. Debating whether or not to download Psychonauts, since I'm partways through it on GameTap.
I never thought to research them.
If you fully research cams, turrets, and bots you can one-button hack them.
Yeah, I can do that. But vending machines arent researchable
It doesn't really take that long, if you do it right.
Agreed, I researched those things with the blinding quickness.
Yeah. Double up on those photographer tonics and just snap repeated pictures of everything you see until the game tells you the letter grade is too low. It isn't like film is rare or expensive.
I feel like you waste more time waiting for the letter grades to appear ~5 times per camera than if you had just ignored the photographs in the first place. For all the things taken from System Shock 2, the research system should have been another.
Rented this and played through it over the weekend. The environments and the whole of Rapture was amazing, and the plasmids were good fun. I enjoyed the Big Daddy fights, except the times I was low on ammo. The story was good, but I wish the game could have been about twice as long. All in all, I'm glad I just rented it.

This actually has nothing to do with BioShock, even though it looks like it does. It's from some artsy-fartsy painter/photographer named Helnwein.
Then why post it here?
probably would have fit better in the bioshock the movie thread that was made just hours ago.
Yum, more 360 leftovers!Quote:
Various sources are reporting that the long-held rumor of BioShock’s PS3 release is true, and that the game will arrive by the end of 2008.Both CVG and 1Up.com are reporting the news, each one citing an independent source. CVG got its information from the cover of an upcoming issue of UK Magazine PSM3, while 1Up.com states that the full story will be in the next issue of its sister print publication EGM.
While the CVG story only acknowledges the existence of the game, 1Up gives additional details, including that it will see release in 2008 and may include some “potential graphical improvements.”
Next-Gen has contacted Take-Two Interactive requesting a confirmation of this story.
If only this game had been originally made for the PC and not dumbed down for consoles :(
Yeah, really late, but hey some people havent played the game (i have though :x)
It looks like they are going to release 2 for the PS3 as well, so it only makes sense to toss out the first one beforehand.
360 version is hot if you dont have a good PC (like me who had over recommended spec, except for video card -_-)

Doesn't really tell us anything, but the imagery sure is cool.
i want that BigDaddy playable on littlebigplanet
I think I may give it one more try, but without any Harvesting this time. Once you get the chemical thrower, the Incinerate, Electric Bolt, and Winter Blast plasmids almost become redundant.
The hacking minigame gets a bit stale sometimes, since it's always the same one. Removing the "?" things from the tops of the tiles is a chore. For BS2, all the tiles should already be shown- and some other minigames should be used at times to mix it up. Making a second one based on the Genesis game Junction would be good for a change. Instead of picking up and swapping out tiles, you'd have a blank space to move tiles into to shuffle them around.
Fully researching bots and turrets means you automatically hack them, cuts down on the annoyance a lot.
Idle Thumbs just did an incredible piece on Bioshock: http://www.twitch.tv/idlethumbs/b/322438377
It's a ~3 hour playthrough with designer JP LeBreton. You don't often see developers being so candid about their own games.
I linked the first of three videos above. If you check out the other links, you'll also find the same dev running through his own Doom de-make of his Bioshock level Arcadia.
(This is the first time Idle Thumbs has done this sort of thing so you're going to notice technical problems with the earlier parts of the video)
