The Halo Challenge

We're exactly four weeks away from the release of Halo 3, and I'm sure most people are going to want to play through the single player right away (or co-op).

To get ready (remember wtf is going on), I'm going to play through Halo 1 and 2. I figure there's not much else coming out for 360 between now and then, and this would be a good opportunity to get some discussion in.

Here's the plan...

August 28th-September 10th - Halo 1
September 11th-September 24th - Halo 2

No discussion of Halo 3 in this thread, there's a thread for that here.

This thread is purely for talking about story/gameplay of the first two games. If you don't like the idea, gtfo and let the thread drop to the bottom of the board. Otherwise, let's play some Halo.

In the days anxiously waiting for Halo 2, I was playing Halo 1 through and through. Mostly campaign but some multiplayer mixed in. I have no desire, actually, to play Halo 2 before 3, though I will play Halo 1 again.

While I'm completely down with the Halo pre-play hype, that statement is outrageous.

Stranglehold, MOH, Eternal Sonata, both NHL games, Blazing Angels, Skate, Oblivion GOTY Edition, and Juiced 2 should all hit before the release of Halo3. Now, while it's completely objective as to which game suits your fancy(and that is totally understandable), to say that there's "not much else" coming out before the 25th is ridiculous.

However, to get back on topic I'm hoping to see some more revelation in regards to the forerunners and their history, as well as the return of a solid single player campaign(instead of H2's focus of multiplayer over a rushed story mode) that we can all enjoy playing together as a unit of futuristic death dealing badasses.

Also, Sarge needs to throw down some more.

I'll be lucky to get through Bioshock before Halo 3 gets here so count me out.

I still haven't bothered to send my 360 off to get it fixed so I will probably miss the glory that is Halo 3. At least at launch.

Goddamn fans dying on me. I haven't even really sat down and played anything in a long ass time. I did get Prime 3 though.:devil:

I'll gladly play through Halo and Halo 2 though. I have an Xbox in two different rooms in the house, and outside in the poolhouse.

I already played through Halo 1 and 2, I just finished 2 last week I think. Halo 1 has it's awesome moments, but towards the end it just seems to plod on too long.

I think I actually enjoyed Halo 2 more this time, however. I had only played Halo 2 when it first came out. I had rented it, beat it, and never touched it again. I nabbed it on the cheap and played it on the 360, and it may be my imagination but the game looks much better on the 360 than the original Xbox.

The one thing that pisses me off about the Halo games is that there is never really a last boss. Master Chief fought the Prophet of something, but that was a pretty easy battle. The Arbiter fought the leader of the Brutes, but I took that fucker out in 3 seconds with the plasma blade.
