Nintendo sucks.
I bet we don't get it till next year. Nintendo sucks, but Nintendo of America REALLY fucking sucks.
LOL instead we got R-Type (SMS) and Fighting Street (TG-16)
Zeed should be happy to see R-Type. Quit bitching about Castlevania Rebirth and try out Lost Winds 2 instead.
No. The Edge review of Lost Winds 2 said it's basically too big for Nintendo's size restrictions. Pass.
How was Castlevania not released on the game's anniversary?
Or at least during the Halloween window?
So dumb.
BUT IT'S NINTENDO THEY'RE DUMB
FUCK NINTENDO SO DUMB GOD FUCK SHIT COCK FUCK
1. Nothing developed in Europe has ever been in the real Castlevanias' league.
2. When the game is so large that it affects the way that it plays negatively, that makes it pretty easy to pass up.
3. If Lost Wind is one of the Wii's best games, that says a lot more about the Wii lineup than the game.
So is every post of yours that has anything to do with a game you don't have any interest in going to go along the lines of, "WELL EDGE SAYS TAHT..."?
Lies. Damn lies.
It's worth doing the SD card shuffle to put LostWinds 2 onto your system.Quote:

I think it would be great on any system.Quote:

I'm not talking about the storage size. I am talking about Nintendo's cap for WiiWare games.
Holy shit! Welcome to 2006, Nintendo!
Japan gets 4 WiiWare games a week?
No surprise.
http://www.gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=102612
Pretty much.
PSN and Wii both need to make demos or trials the standard like on Xbox Live.
I suppose given the choice between paying for access to the demos and not having them, I would choose not having them. After all, an increasing number of 360 demos are gold only.
Why would you not have a Gold account? It's nice.
I'm letting mine expire later this month. Gears 2 is essentially over, and there is nothing else worth playing online on the 360 whatsoever to me. The PS3 will have Netflix relatively soon, and the PC obviously already does, so that eliminates any value from Live Gold. Paying for peer-to-peer still irritates me as well, which makes the decision that much easier.
IAWTP. I shouldn't have to look up a game on YouTube to see it in action before I decide to buy. That's probably why the only WiiWare game I own is Contra Rebirth (which I played at a friend's house first). Demos, or even gameplay videos, would go a long way towards helping people decide to buy a WiiWare title or not.
Then again, with the amount of shovelware that's there, there might be some logic to Nintendo not allowing videos or demos so far. :p
Sony has to get on the ball too. Releasing a demo for one or two games a month after they've shipped is bullshit.
I'm not quite there personally. I have a bunch of friends who play SSF2HDR regularly, which is unfortunately not on PC.
Microsoft pissed me off with the clusterfuckery involved in not renewing my subscription, so even if i did suddenly gain an extra day of the week it'd take extra convincing to make me sign up for Gold again.
Yeah if you just "let it expire" they renew it automatically.
You actually have to cancel it for them to stop renewing.
You have to call them up and tell them no several times.
Not to mention that if you don't use your credit card they can't renew shit.
It's not as straight forward as it should be. There was an interim step I had to do, but I don't recall what it was.
On Xbox.com, do the following:
- Go to "My Account"
- Click "Membership Level" on the left links column
- Click "Automatic Renewal" under your subscription status
- Sit through 3 pages of MS begging you not to leave.
- Done!
I purchased my first Wii Virtual console game yesterday Castlevania 3. I connected my NES deck and inserted my original Castlevania 3 cart to compare. It was a pain to get my NES deck out of the closet, hook it up and it took some work to get the Castlevania 3 cart to work. The game froze up on me on stage 2.
I have had no such problems playing Castlevania 3 on Wii Virtual console. The emulation on VC seems perfect I never did play through the whole game on my NES but I have gotten far on the Wii VC it is fun. My genesis, snes and N64 still work fine and the games usually boot up on the first try so I am still on the fence about buying genesis, snes and N64 VC games.
For NES titles and rare expensive games or japanese imports the VC will be my console of choice. Alien Soldier, Gunstar Heroes, Super C, Ninja Gaiden 1, 2, 3, Castlevania 1 , 2 and Kirby's Dreamland will be mine now I have to go out and get a Wii classic controller.
Buy Gley Lancer for Genesis. It's an awesome import shooter. Super Fantasy Zone is great as well.
I was going to but didn't feel like bothering.
Does anyone give a shit what Yoshi thinks about Xbox anymore? We all know he hates it, so nobody bothers to reply to his waaa waaas.
Damn, take a few minutes to try the Centipede/Millipede remake or Jetpac Refuelled demos. ;)
Excitebike is out today. Been playing it, so far its pretty damn good.
no... i have to beat you. one day.
Excitebike is awesome!! Best Wiiware game by far. Online play is actually fun. Running people over or landing on top of them from a jump kicks ass.
I got it today and loved it as well. S-ranked the bronze courses and got some new colors for my bike! The gameplay is classic Excite Bike, and being able to play online is a great touch. I haven't fiddled with the track editor yet, but I can't wait to see what other people have come up with.
So yeah, Excitebike is pretty fucking good. I felt like an 8 year old playing it again wtf.
Other than having to shake the remote to get back on the track with both control schemes, I'm loving Excitebike so far.
Edit - It plays a lot better with the classic controls, but I wish there was a way to mix the classic controls with the isometric view instead of having that view tied to tilting the remote. Very strange decision there, and the forced remote shaking is really annoying. Track creation is easier than I expected, but doesn't really give you many options to work with compared to Trials HD.
See my feelings about that in the NSMB thread.
Excitebike looks awesome. I wasn't going to spend any more money on games this year but that's too tempting.
And I read somewhere that VC Wonder Boy III has an option for FM sound mode which is cool. Anyone know if it's bullshit or not?
Okay, maybe my gamer card should be taken away, but I actually prefer to shake the controller to get back on the bike instead of mashing the buttons.
Unlike most games, shaking in Excitebike doesn't feel out of place so it doesn't bother me. I'm really impressed with the game (I finally bought Lost Winds, too, which seems pretty cool). It's almost like a much smoother hybrid of classic Excitebike and 8-bit Enduro Racer (because of the diagonal view option and background locations) and I was a big fan of both back in the day.
So got World Rally this morning thanks to the good words here, and it was fun. Tore through the first cup in about 10 mins, give or take. I'm betting the S ranks are hard to pull off?
Also - is there a way to share tracks? Or does one just have to make them all on one's own?
You can send tracks to people on your friend's list.
It is pretty fun but the S ranks aren't really that hard. I tore through all of the tracks earning just one S rank my first play through. I went back and got all but 4 or 5 of the S ranks in about an hour. More tracks would make this great. Maybe the trading tracks feature will give this legs. Still easily worth the 10 bucks.
You folks should add me up to your friend's list
(is it a game-specific code, or just the system number?)
Hay, I finally added my friends code to my profile, so add me to your lists so we can exchange Excitebike tracks and play all those 60-player multi-player Wii games!
Hey Melf, I added your Wii friends code and I put mine in my profile too. I'll add anyone else that makes it that easy. I'm going to try and get a couple of tracks made this weekend.
Nice!
I don't remember how good Phalanx was. Still, it should come to all regions.Quote:

You think Kotaku could be bothered to watch a replay on YouTube?

I dunno... It's a pretty weird game if you go by the box and don't care enough to look up a gameplay video! You obviously never played it with the optional banjo controller, Gravß.
The audio samples in the X68000 version make me want to puncture my eardrums...
The Second Lost Winds game has some pretty damn good puzzles.
Did not realize Zoom was still around, shame this isn't a original project or at least a remake.Quote:

Sadly, that art won't be needed for the game's impending re-release, with original developers Zoom Inc handling a port of the original Sharp X68000 - not the later SNES - version of the game for Nintendo's Wii.
It'll be made available via WiiWare, not the Virtual Console, and will go for 500 Nintendo Points. Phalanx is currently due for re-release only in Japan.
So, Nintendo is going to get Castlevania Rebirth up on Monday, right?
Doubtful. Excitebike and Castlevania would be too much awesome in a single month, and this IS Nintendo we're talking about.
I know, but that is honestly the only console game I care about for quite a while, so it needs to get here.
Don't get your hopes up:
11/16- Pokemon Rumble
11/23-Bit. Trip. Void
Jesus. More worthless shit.
Awww!! I want me some Castlevania now! I'll take it over everything released on Wii this year. Even the new Mario.
I'll take it over anything that ever has or ever will be released on the Wii.
Goddamn, WiiWare/VC stuff could really use a demo option. I almost missed out on the new Lost Winds game. It's rad. Plays well + Nice Art. And like the first one, it's one of the few Wii games that actually knows how to use the remote.
I'm still thinking if it comes here, it's gonna happen in December, which is the 20th anniversary in the US. No idea why everyone expects it every single fucking week.
It's not so much expecting it as much as wishing that there was something waggle free to play on the Wii.
I'm not saying I expect it, just saying that listing a couple of WW games like Low did as though it means "well, these weeks are taken" is historically inaccurate.
I've made my first track in Excitebike if anyone is interested. It's on the short side of tracks and it's really meant for permanent turbo but it's pretty fun. I would love some feedback.
It's the system code. When you select to send your track in the editor it pulls up everyone on your friends list.
Cool, I just sent it over. The track editor can keep this game fun. It looks like you can only keep 8 custom tracks at a time though.
No Vania today. You can buy another version of Street Fighter 2 though!!!! FUCK YES!!!!
I read that they are starting their demo program for WiiWare games today. It's only on 5 games right now though. They can't even get that right.
Hey K3V, I sent you an updated version of the Excitebike track. It's longer and a bit more tricky.
Cool, I'll check it out tonight after work. Thanks!
Time to try Nyxquest. Thanks for the heads up.
It's cool that we're finally getting demos but Nintendo's pretty clueless when it comes to them, though, with their "available for a limited time!" crap and only having a few available.
It's the stupid DS kiosk demo philosophy being transplanted to a system where it makes no sense whatsoever.
I downloaded the demo and liked it so much that I bought it. Had Nintendo joined this century earlier and released the demo when the game came out, this would easily have been a day 1 purchase for me. GG Nintendo.
I can't wait to hear Nintendo fanboys talk about how the company has revolutionized the concept of offering demos!
I can't wait until 2012 when they finally have full-screen screenshots of downloadable games.
If Nintendo catches up in 2012, then the Mayans were right, and we're fucked.
But you are assuming that Nintendo would catch up to 2012 in 2012, I am thinking more catching up to 2007 in 2012. In which case, our civilization is still safe from the Mayan bullshit.
As long as they have friend's code to prevent you from doing any online shit, we are pretty safe.
