#1) Lets go back to the day where the media wasn't a money making entity? Y'know the evil liberal media that your side always whines about? Lets go back to the day where there wasn't the blue network (MSNBC) and the red network (Fox), when they were forced to have a new segment that didn't rely at all on profit margins and ratings.
In todays day and age Nixon would never have been impeached, or even found out probably, with the pussy, biased, media outlets running around. I know this because no one in the Bush administration has ever had to answer for their decisions. The media sucks nowadays, and I blame people like Yoshi for it sucking so much.
2.) We are the only mass industrial country in the world without free health care. If I found out I had cancer tomorrow, I'd be more worried about how much I'd have to pay than I would be about trying to survive it.
To someone like you thats irrelevant because until you have to experience a situation where you can't afford treatment for something because you can't afford health care, (and people like you never usually do, so consider yourself lucky) you don't have the perspective on this to give me a credible thought, other than the old argument of "I don't want the government in charge of health care."
Republicans nowadays are so funny, because they really believe their party is still about individuality and privatization, not seeing that these corporations aren't there to help them or the economy anymore, and have become just as bad, if not worse, than the government they claim to be serving in the best interest of. You really think if this was the United States of Microsoft we'd all be better off?
You don't want to trust the government with your health thats fine, and the other argument I'm sure is you don't want to pay your tax money to other people's health. Good for you.
I don't trust the big faceless corporation trying to hawk drugs that might kill me in commercials that make out "Levitra" to be the happy meal of pharmacy drugs, and tell me to suggest to my doctor what drug I should be one because I saw a neon green butterfly on a commercial tell me too.
Also for the record, other countries have done this and been quite successful with it.
