Tough loss for the Leafs tonight at Montreal, after last night's game in Atlanta, to play the rested Habs. Vesa wasn't his stellar self, although I'm curious to see how those four goals were scored. Still, before tonight, he was 6-1-0 in his last seven games with a 1.43 GAA. He's still the man. <3

Thanks to the salary cap, and your idiot GM, the Devils have been, are, and will remain closer to winning another Cup than the Rangers. You can't pay two $3-4M guys $15M total and put a winning team on the ice, and that baggage is there long-term. Hell, can they even get Lundqvist under the cap when they need to? And when they do, will Shanahan and Jagr be gone?

Boy, you have an excuse for everything.

The Devils beat the Rangers without their best player. That would be like me lauding a Rangers victory over the Devils without Brodeur. And I don't give a shit how much you don't like Jagr, he was second in the league in scoring and was the Rangers MVP all year that season.

The regular season doesn't mean shit. It doesn't. Any real NHL fan knows this. So, please spare me the "we stole the division from you and then we exited the playoffs a game earlier than you so we're better than you" BS. And I don't care who you lost to because no one will ever remember anything other than you lost and you lost early and it wasn't close. The Devils were the hottest team in the NHL in the stretch run of 2005-6 and it didn't mean shit, obviously.

And, in case you're not paying attention, Gomez is leading the Rangers in points and has averaged a point per game after his 10 game debut and getting used to the team. And I don't even like Gomez - but he has been consistently producing over the past 20 games.

Your genius GM fired his coach right before the playoffs in 2006-7. That move was pure genius. As is evidenced by their barely hanging on to beat TB and getting clubbed by Ottawa. He also let Gomez go, Rafalski go, Dowd go, etc...

Can't wait until Sutter gets fired in late April so Lou can come to the rescue again. :P

Jagr hurt himself, because he lost his head, like he far too often does. That's part of the team. Their captain is a joke who shows up when he feels like it does dumb shit like that... not that they would have won a game even with him.

Knowing that Gomez is not a $7M player separates a good GM from a shitty one. The fact that Gomez is leading the Rangers in scoring says more about how terrible the rest of their players are than it does about Gomez. Parise makes half as much money and has 9 more points than Gomez. And that's with a team that according to you had significantly less offensive talent.

Right. Jagr is routinely considered among the greatest that have ever played the game and I'm supposed to take your biased opinion seriously? You don't like him, we know this, and he's one of the best players of all time. He rarely "loses his head" and the Rangers had no chance without him. Beat your chest all you want. You beat a team without its best player and that's not saying all that much.

You keep bringing up Gomez being a bonehead move but your shitty GM pays this guy more than Gomez and he produces LESS. Give it a rest, already.

I have no idea what's wrong with Elias this year. He's led the team in scoring like 7 straight years though, other than the year he missed half the season.

As for Jagr, he is one of the most talented ever. not one of the best. I wouldn't want his show up when he feels like it and play defense never attitude on my team. He's never been the best player in the game at any time in his career, so I'm not buying one of the best ever.

There's probably a reason he's not the captain anymore. I don't think Gomez is worth 7 million and I don't think Elias is worth 7.5, even if he did lead the Devils in scoring. He makes nearly 50% more than your personal deity, Martin Brodeur.

Elias is clearly overpaid, especially now that he is not the captain. I think his deal was an overreaction to losing Niedermayer.

It's not a typo, but I don't think you read it the way I intended it. In my opinion, Jagr has never been the best player in the NHL in any given season.

Yeah, but it's hard to be that definitive about any player in any year. It's always open to debate and there's never a clear right/wrong choice.

Jagr lost a few teeth today and the Rangers are starting their 2nd string goaltender. Yay.
