Cooking dinner for a few friends tonight, in celebration/mourning of the season finale of The Office. Of course, it has to be somewhat Office themed.
Appetizer: Jim's famous grilled cheese sandwich
Ficelle (similar to a baguette, but a bit thinner), cut thin at a bias
Decent mozzarella cheese
Fresh basil
parmigiano reggianno
Main course:
Grilled "big tuna" (sushi-grade yellowfin tuna steaks)
For the marinade, I'm probably going to do something like this:
tablespoon soy sauce
1 1/2 tsp spicy brown mustard (I would use dijon, but I realized I didn't have any)
Juice of a lemon
1/4 cup olive oil
I'm not a fan of overpowering marinades, especially when the meat is 17/lb, so I'll probably only marinate them for about 30 minutes, maybe an hour.
Sweet shishkebobs
These will basically just have chunks of Vidalia onions, red, orange, and poblano peppers, and regular and champagne mangoes.
Salad: I just got some fresh mixed salad greens, and I'm going to make a simple vinegarette of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and honey.
Dessert: Rhubarb pie. We marked the rhubarb at my store down to $.99/lb, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I have some strawberries that have been in the fridge a little to long for straight up eating, but should be good enough for a pie.
