A co-worker told me about the farm that his dad runs. Grass fed poultry and beef, mostly. I looked through the prices, and wow... $730 for a quarter cow (about 110 pounds of meat), dry aged for two weeks. The web site said that they're sold out for the year.
Damn, If I lived neat you I would split the cost. That's a whole lot of beef.
What about the chickens, what's their price?
$3 per pound for whole dressed chickens. This will run you about three times as much as a Sanderson Farms whole chicken, but I'm curious about the taste difference. Eggs are $4 per dozen, which is about $1 more than a typical dozen of organic eggs. While these are more expensive than standard stuff, I guess you're paying the premium for very small volume meat that you know is raised well. Unfortunately having a conscience is too expensive for me.

I made such a shitty dinner last night I don't even want to go into it. It was just full of fail.
Except onion rings. I managed to make pretty decent onion rings.
Don't worry it happens to everybody. I tried to make chorizo and cheese tacos the other day. I overcooked burnt the chorizo, and I decided to add the cheese to the pan but it got all hard and chewy. They were fucking terrible and swimming in grease; I had to throw them away. I made some awesome mac and cheese from scratch the next day though so I felt better about myself.Quote:

Mr. K, don't worry about fucking up a meal. We all do it, and it's embarrassing sometimes when you cook for people, but you just have to roll with it and make the best out of it. Just never forget when cooking for people that you're the one taking the risk at the others' pleasure.

Hell a week ago I messed up making hash browns. YES ... hash browns. How? Don't ask. No fire, but an over abundance of grease on my plate and undercooked potatoes. And I don't mean from frying ... yeah.
Actually, I find hash browns to be pretty hard to make. The crispy crust is essential, but it's so easy to burn.
With the leftover chicken I had (2 legs and 2 breasts), I made chicken salad. I added a minced shallot and chopped walnuts, and just enough mayo to hold it all together. Put on some fresh sliced rosemary batard, and it's delicious.
