I would. Pitching is fucking hard, I was never an awesome pitcher but whenever I was pitching, I had trouble when the fucking wind was blowing too hard, I'd have no control with bugs at all.

Carmona looked plenty fine with all that shit flying around. It also affected the hitters. No excuses. Onward Canadian Soldiers! Seeing all those bugs on the players in HD wasn't too pleasing.

Certain guys can deal with that mental distraction, certain guys can't. It doesn't really set apart pitchers either, because where in the pitching resume is the "ability to deal with bugs" category? I'm not going to say the Yankees lost that game because of the bugs flying around, but I'm pretty certain Joba struggled because of the bugs and not so much the pressure of the situation. Carmona didn't, so technically it's a fair situation and the best team still won today, but it's still a wacky thing to happen.
What kind of bugs are those? That's some wacked shit.
I wish I had counted the amount of times Suzyn and John collectively said the words "gnats" and "bugs" tonight. Sterling is the fucking embodiment of comedy.
Also, the dude who caught the foul ball at Fenway is about to become a household name in about five hours.

Better to lose to the Nats than the gnats, I always say.

Rich, get my money and your nickname ready, you're done.
JOBA JOBA JOBA
Nice 200 million dollar offense, doucebags.
STFU, I pitched for 20 fucking years Gohron, you focus on the batter the bugs could have been resting on my chin and I wouldn't have noticed. See both Petitte and Carmona. Chamberlain lacks focus.
Joba isn't ready for post season ball, he's probably not going to be seen again after this meltdown.
I was very surprised Joba was brought in for that situation. The guy's got next to zero MLB experience, and he came in late, in a one-run high-pressure situation, with an unusual environmental hazard.
Mike Bacsik (yeah, the guy who gave up Bonds history) was on ESPNews and commented that Carmona was in a rhythm so the bugs wouldn't have gotten to him. He said Joba never had the chance to get into the same rhythm, and he should have been taken out when it was clear he couldn't get his focus.
The Angels are dead. Get Vlad some help pls.
Cubs will win big today. Chris Young, however, is a MAN who'll be an all-star for years to come.
I give the edge to Colorado too. The offenses are equal, but the Rockies have the pitching advantage today since Jimenez isn't a fly-ball soft-tosser like Moyer. He's young though, so who knows.
