Weren't those Pistons known as the "Bad Boys", and were entertaining?
bad boys yes, entertaining no. they also played a boring defense first style.
it's actually pretty funny, up until this year at least, everyone complained constantly about how the nba was a bunch of me-first showboaters who only cared about scoring and refused to play d. then they turn around and complain about how boring the spurs are.
edit: when i say everyone, i mean in general, not necessarily people here.
Spurs is boring, but they are a great team. Nothing against them, but you couldn't pay me enough to watch them play. Wasn't last year's finals one of the lowest ratings?
All I know is that the highest rated playoff series last year was Golden State vs. Dallas.
It was a great series with a good underdog story. I'm sure it picked up massive viewers as it became more and more likely the number 8 was about to beat the number one.
Let's not start sucking his dick just yet. You can't ignore that his team had arguably the easiest possible road to the Finals in NBA history last year, then didn't even put up a fight, and then for whatever reason, the team he led this year regressed. He still doesn't have enough confidence in his J in game winning situations and he has choked numerous times already from the free throw line. I don't know if you could ever say that about Mike or The Kobester. But LeBron has the intrinsic ability to be right up there and I expect him to sooner than later. He's still a young cat.
I disagree about the need to be a killer. You can be a pussy and win a championship, but you have to be a killer to lead a team to a championship because at some point carrying your team in situations where they are under large deficits in hostile crowds will be required. Pussies can come close, like Dirk did, but pussies always find a way to get fucked. To be honest, I think LeBron's a bit accustomed to having had his dick sucked by everyone to the point that he may be a bit soft right now. But Jordan and Kobe were earlier on as well, which is one reason the Bulls had Oakley there.Quote:
I don't think a guy has to be a hyper-intense lunatic to lead a team to a championship. Kobe's "killer instinct" has worked against him and his team on more than one occasion, and I will forever believe that he quit against the Suns in that one series a couple of years back, so I think he's a fair-weather killer.
Free throw shooting is not much to ask. The guy, as great as he is and he is great, has already choked numerous times from the line. That tells me he's either a mediocre FT shooter or that he can be shook at times.Quote:
Lebron puts up monster numbers, owns the league and keeps getting better. You couldn't possibly ask for more from the guy at his age.
Well he shoots like 70% so I tend to think it's the former. That's really my only knock on Bron. Regarding a lack of trust in his jumper at the end of the game... I think it's more the fact that he knows he doesn't ever have to settle and can get a layup in situations where no one else in the game can. It would just help if he could sink free throws when he's fouled trying to do so.
Lebron absolutely ripped the heart out of Washington tonight.
Holy crap Atlanta!
