But, but, we have Delonte West, he's equal to Scottie Pippen...................
I was being sarcastic, silly.
If you look at the stats between the 91-92 championship team (posted above) of the Bulls, in comparison to current team (posted above) of the Cavs, you'll see that the deciding factor was Michael Jordan. It was Jordan, Pippen, Grant and a bunch of nobodies. The Cavs at least had 4 players that scored in the double-digits, while the Bulls only had 3.
Oh yeah..... Joe 33 year old Smith, No defense Wally World, Z, and Herpes Mouth West are for sure equal to Grant, Pippen, Cartwright, and Armstrong.
The Cavs can come back next year. Their tradable assets are Varejao, expiring contracts look like Szcerbiak $13m, Snow $7.3m, Joe Smith $5m (could be wrong), Damon Jones $4.4m, and Delonte West at $2.7m. Keep in mind they have to have some room to resign Boobie and keep LeBron in mind when he opts out. The following year ('09/'10) Ben Wallace's $14m can be used as an asset or just let it expire for some cap relief, allowing the Cavs to take on some contracts now. Varejao's $6m, Big Z's $11.5m, and Sasha's $4.9m are also in their final years that year.
They'll get nothing from Wallace next year so the Cavs don't want to trade Varejao if they can help it. All they have to offer are contracts, which would imply they'd target crappy teams looking to save cash. A package of expiring contracts may be able to get a Kyle Lowry or Javaris Crittenton from Memphis assuming Conley is their guy. Wild card is some deal to get Baron Davis if Golden State is looking for cap space. What will Denver do with Carmelo this offseason? I don't see a Melo/LeBron tandem unless Cavs take on some bad contracts like Nene and/or Kenyon, but this is all back of the envelope and may not even be a cap possibility anyway.
I'd think about keeping West just based on his performance in that series. The other guys should all get shipped off if they can find some decent deals for them.
They keep trying to surround Lebron with shooters, but once the playoffs roll around, all these shooters go cold and disappear from the stat sheet.
Maybe they'd be better off getting scorers like West. Especially someone in the low post. Z is a good rebounder/shooter, but he's not going to hurt anybody with his moves down low. Even if they just had someone athletic like Tyson Chandler that Lebron could throw it up to when he's in the lane, it'd be an improvement over Z.
