I enjoyed the demo of Game Republic's Folklore, but I didn't expect the full game to be received this well. IGN gave it a 9. At least we won't have to hear port rumors about this one for months.

It's an SCE game, so we won't hear the FFXIII/MGS4 rumors constantly.
Good to hear this got at least one solid review because I really enjoyed the demo. Definitely not a game I need to buy immediately with the crazy awesome influx of quality games coming out this fall, but it is definitely something I will be picking up in the future.
I'm just happy because now I have more incentive to buy a PS3.
Ratchet, Uncharted and this added to the library make a Christmas request more likely.
gametrailers says 7.2

it seems to click for some and not so much for others.
Dont worry about port rumors. Xbox 360 owners dont want this one.
The graphics is gorgeous from the demo, but I hate the color palette. The Sixaxis soul sucking is annoying, I hope the full game is good though as I got bored in the demo.
I agree more with the Eurogamer 5/10 review. I know it's not the same as playing the whole game, but I was sick of the gameplay after even that demo. That IGN 9.0 review is just part of their habit of overrating mediocre games (eg. Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Prey).
Since this is the dev team that made the classic Genji, I have high hopes.
Classic Genji? Genji was trash. I turned it over and hit it's weakspot for..moderate damage.
In our recent issue, Nick (aka Nick Rox) gave the game a 9.0, just to add to the list.
It would have been a 10, except for the blue shadows.
Halo 3 can't, but maybe you could tell your superiors to throw some purses and doll clothes his way and things could change.
also: stalker.
I'll admit the last few posts have confused me.
LOL @ IGN's 4 page review.
Here's an old thread!
Did anyone ever get around to actually playing this?
I like it so far. It's a little weak that you have to visit each level twice (once with each character) but there's enough difference so it doesn't feel like a complete retread.
Gameplay's rather basic (simple hack & slash with light RPG elements) but there's enough variety in the Folk you absorb & fight with to keep things interesting. There's little gremlins who blow bubbles for an air-based water attack, hammer-headed storks that pound the ground, and furry beasts three times your size that attack with powerful swipes. The camera's a chore to manage, especially when fighting several enemies at once, but the lock-on works OK.
Best thing is the atmosphere. I love the music and the comic-style static story screens. The voice acting does the job quite well. The best parts are the level and creature designs, which are bursting with color and creativity.
The mood reminds me of Ridley Scott's Legend, and it feels very much like an adult Alice in Wonderland or Dark Crystal. The mystery of what I might find round the bend keeps me going, not to mention the intriguing story.
Anyways, I'm enjoying Folklore. It's the kind of third-person adventure that doesn't seem to happen much anymore. The mechanics are a little clunky but the atmosphere more than makes up for it.
is the DLC for this free yet?
I played it for a few hours. Seemed ok, but didn't hold my interest. Definitely worth the $2.97 I paid for it brand new though.
i love Sears clearance
That's a great price! Do they have any more? I would gladly give you up to $3 to make it worth your while!
There were many, but the asshole who bought them all had the nerve to sell them for $20 a pop at his store.
He may be inclined to offer one towards Rondo though...
OK, this game can officially go to hell and die. It had gradually gotten more frustrating and less fun, and I have reached the point where I simply don't care. Rant incoming.
I can't stand it when element-based games suddenly present you with an enemy that you have zero chance of beating unless you have a certain specific combination of elements in your arsenal. And not just that; you then have to use them in a specific, counter-intuitive manner that you're given no clues about whatsoever.
Doesn't matter how bad-ass and well-balanced your existing arsenal is or how creative you are with your tactics, if you happened to miss this one particular miniscule vital bit that the developer insists upon, you have no chance of progressing.
What's the point of spending time to carefully build an arsenal if there's a chance it can all be for nothing? This should never ever ever happen. Ever. More difficult to progress, sure; never impossible. I appreciate a challenge, but I do not appreciate getting screwed.
So unto you, Folklore, and Game Republic, I say up yours and kiss my sharries; I'm done forever.
