Halo 3 campaign expansion. Whatever.
What's in this campaign expansion?
Rumors:Quote:
Halo 3: Keep It Clean is a campaign expansion to Halo 3. It takes place in Mombasa, Kenya, presumably during the events of the First and Second Battle of Earth.
[...]
The most popular rumor surrounding this new title is that it's a squad-based shooter in the Halo universe with the player filling the role of a Marine commander. This could be the reason why Christian Allen, a former Marine and Red Storm employee who worked on the Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six series, joined Bungie in early 2007.
video is nice.
Just announced at The Tokyo Game Show ...
Halo 3 Recon.
A prologue to Halo 3. Full game and you play as a ODST Recon Marine.
The Halo whore in me says I'll be buying it.
It would be sweet if for multiplayer the different armor pieces did different things. Like in the trailer the view from the marine's visor it was highlighting the enemies in different colors. That would be a great way to spice up the otherwise bland multiplayer.
Full disc expansion of the Halo 3 franchise.

Halo 3: Recon info in new GI
The December 2008 issue of Game Informer has a cover story on Halo 3: Recon - and it's a doozy. It doesn't contain any new screenshots, but there's quite a bit of concept art, and there's a lot of description of how the game is going to work. There are some very interesting tidbits included:
* Paul Bertone describes the scope of H3:R as "a three to five-hour expansion pack"
* Recon Armor will be earnable for all - complete the Vidmaster Challenge series of achievements and it's yours
* Bungie's Joe Staten says "we do not view this as a $60 title"
* The cover art is spectacular, and has been whipped up by Bungie newcomer Jaime Jones (google him - I found this gallery of pretty amazing stuff)
Anybody still need legendary achievements? I'm gonna play co-op tonight.
I need to beat the damn game.
I beat it using another gamertag and now I need to beat it using mine.
I'm in, let's do it.
k
When? Can't you play with 4? I'll do it.
Unless Jeff tags me for gears before you honkies get online.
Steph is using the TV, as soon as she's done I'll start it up. Grunt Party for X-mas imho.
I'm game for legendary co-op or other online hijinx.
Anybody wanna play some MM today? I have the day off and haven't played Halo, or games with TNLers for a while.
I'll be on as soon as I find my wireless headset.
I'd be down for some H3 tonight too.
I'm definitely in.
Halo 3 nownownow
Hey I'll play!
nomi24
I'll be back in 20 mins.
I AM DOWNLOADING MAPS. Why, I do not know. However, I had better use EACH of them at least ONCE. <3
Dammit, why did you guys have to choose TONIGHT to play? It's Women Appreciation Day!
Mine's making me a sammich!
Mine is sleeping.
Mine is taking the cookies out of the oven.
Those cookies were almost burnt, by the way.
We should all play again soon.
I still get invites lol, I traded this in over a year ago.
PROTIP: Nobody keeps track of the games other people traded in.
Yeah, I had fun while we played, would recommend to a friend A+++++++
Rocket surgery imo.
I'm going to be playing this a lot in the next month. We have a competition at our company between our internal practices appropriately named "Practice Wars", and Halo 3 is one of the events during it. Which means I will be playing as part of the team for my practice and I need to be at the proper Halo skill level to stomp all the competition.
So if anyone wants to play, I'm down.
Invite me.
Fo sho. I definitely will. And new maps on April 9th.
I know no one here plays this, but the new maps came out. They are actually pretty damn awesome.
Assembly is a symmetrical covenant circular style map that is almost like a hybrid of Midship and Warlock, but bigger. And Orbital is just crazy. Taking place on a USNC space station, I still haven't quite gotten the hang of the layout yet, but it is a very fast paced medium sized level that seems great for slayer games. Then Sandbox is the Forget map they released that is pretty damn huge. I have already played on one varient of it called Tundra that was straight up awesome, and really shows how much different this map can be made with a few slight modifications in Forge.
Two thumbs up Bungie on these maps, very good stuff. Especially considering I was very hesitant about the quality of them based on what I saw pre-release.
I'm playing Halo on my birthday right now, woo.
I would get on, but I already played all night and have been sick all day so I think I'm going to pass out :( But HAPPY HALO BIRFDAY TO YOU NOMI!!
Hay guys, remember this game? Let's play some nownownow.
My first experience with this game was playing two online matches supposedly for purposes of basic training. However, in both cases a douchebag who clearly knew the maps won by a score of roughly 25-3-2-1-0. Both fuckers knew where to snipe, where to ambush, etc.
Thankfully I didn't buy it for that trash. I really only want to co-op the campaign. Geo and Cap are interested so far. Anyone else? Looking at weeknights at the moment.
I can maybe do it tonight.
How DARE they know the maps.
The point is that if they know the maps, why are they in the basic training shit? Then again, reading before posting has always been too much to ask of you.
Exactly.
Yeah, but there aren't 7,000 better online 3PS available.
I'll take that excuse and live dangerously.
PC gamers would never stoop to that level...apparently.
I'm kind-of curious what's on this huge list of games that absolutely destroy H3 multiplayer. It seems really well-designed to me. My only issue is the overabundance of grenades for some maps and melee jump issues. I guess if your position is that an average game with mouse control is better than a great game with a controller, then sure, that list will fill up quick.
Left 4 Dead RAPES it. But then again, it's a different sort of thing.
ODST should actually hold up better against L4D, but I'll still take Valve over Bungie any day and twice on Sunday.
I'm down for any xbox co op anything ever.
Ron-reeeeee, so ron- reeeeeee
We need to play something soon, Cow! Maybe dis weekend.
Yellerwuss, wake me up when you decide to play L4D on Expert ;)
i can't not play it dat good yet
Neither am I so we die trying.
Hold up better? They're barely the same at all, I don't think you can objectively call L4D superior. I've definitly had more fun with H3 and got tired of L4D multiplayer after 3-4 sessions. There's definitely some entertaining elements, but it was far too repetititve for long-term play. Definitley overrated.
The best thing L4D manages to do is be a fun group experience, even if your friends that suck at videogames are playing.
That STRONGLY depends on who you play with.
Try VS mode. Playing as an infected is a completely different game, it's wild.
Unreal Tournament '99 with the sniper arena mutator is the still the best Deathmatch/CTF game to date.
Halo doesn't even come close.
Its kinda funny TNL is bashing Halo3 multi right now when yall play Gears2 everyday. Just sayin. Not buying that 3ps talk either.
Thats insane youre running into people like that but its not surprising. You have to be brand new to Halo 3 - you cant even choose the basic training playlist past 10 played games. "The Basic Training playlist is inaccessible once the player has reached 5 experience points (place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd to gain 1exp) OR has completed ten games." So basically that means stupid kids are creating new xboxlive accounts every 10 games for the sole purpose of crushing new players to the game. I wouldnt put it past them either.
Its a fun game but Halo has the worst community by far in any online game ive played. Make sure you have the other people muted or play in a party so you cant hear those idiots.
No question, Gears have more glitches and exploits than Halo 3. Yet, I still have more fun with it than Halo 3. Even with lag and all that BS, I (mostly) feel that a team of TNL can beat almost any other team. We change strategies midway through a match and can overcome the other team to win.
But in H3, it doesn't feel like there is any tactics at all besides camping weapon spawn spots. Granted I am not good at this game but that's all I remember toward the end of my playing days.
I have zero point zero interest in Gears, so there went that.
Oh damn.
Halo does one thing better than every other FPS game online. The vehicles. I have yet to play anything online that does them better. They play sweet! They're fun to have more than once person in and they are balanced enough where they dont own the maps. Also if your on foot against one you can always try and hijack it if you dont have a weapon to blow them up.
They are pretty much the only reason I'll play this online.
You trying to say that isnt a tactic in gears too? Every game is a mad dash for the boomshot/frags. Look, I enjoy playing both games but they are both pretty broken. All Halo3 is now is who can 4-shot someone first with a BattleRifle every game. No one uses any other weapon - theres no reason to use any other. Its gotten pretty stale. Thank god they are phasing out the BR with ODST and hopefully Halo Reach. As for Gears, a cover based shooter gets turned into an upclose shotgun (host wins) war every match. That said, I still have fun with both games.
Its funny saying tactical in the same sentence as Halo or Gears but you might want to try the objectives in Halo (bomb and CTF). You need a plan to win objective Halo games. Theres a definate advantage of Halo over Gears there. CTF in Gears is pure shit.
Yikes. That statement is blasphemy to any PC Battlefield fan. Hell no sir.Quote:

I'd say most kids online are better with the BR than I am, so instead of competing with their 4-shot, I have to grab better angles, use grenades, or just find an "inferior" weapon and plan to its advantage. A no-zoom sniper kill when you're 2-shots in from their BR is pretty exciting.
Still, ODST better bring some significant additions to the H3 versus...I haven't really been keeping up, but you don't even play as the ODST guys, do you? It's just maps and variants to existing Spartan/Elite multiplayer? I assume new maps will have the new weapons in rotation.
I've recently caught the Halo bug again, in anticipation of ODST, which I wasn't even looking forward to when first announced. So I may be playing at some point and will certainly be up for co-op.
Yeah, that's actually part of the reason I got Halo 3. I already had ODST preordered, and I figured I might as well take advantage of the "free" DLC that comes from ODST.
Well just remember that ODST does have a multiplayer Horde mode (with its own specific maps itself) - and co-op story campaign. There is no Versus multiplayer with the ODST characters though. The story mode is set up very differently (open ended world) from any Halo game so far - and that end alone seems worth it to me.
From what I understand ODST is a 2 disk set. One disk is ODST solo/co-op story campaign AND ODST Horde mode. The 2nd disk is the complete Halo 3 multiplayer with all of the previously released maps and 3 new maps. In other words, you wont need your original Halo 3 disk anymore unless you want to play H3's campaign. Im also assuming you wont need the map packs on your harddrive anymore because theyre part of the 2nd disk.
We have lost plenty of games where we got to the power weapon first, and vice versa. I won't deny that rushing for power weapon is the predominant strategy in most maps, but you still have a chance to win even if you don't get them. But in H3, all I remember is either our team or other team camping out the power weapon spawn (like I said, I can be way off base here, but that's my experience anyway).
In Gears, we rarely ever camp the weapon spawn (because it will end in stalemate).
I will say this: Halo 3 has dedicated servers, which is a HUGE advantage over Gears.
No question. Fuck Epic/MS for not giving Gears dedicated servers.
Halo 3 doesn't have dedicated servers, it just doesn't have shitty netcode.
Gears has more strategy to it and a higher overall fun factor.
That's why we still play it in spite of the many glitches and exploits.
How about lack of research?
I dont understand why either of them dont have dedicated servers considering how successful both games are. Sure servers cost money but so what - sales would cover that. When someone quits in Halo youre screwed because the spot can't get filled. Gears 2 was initially that way but now a bot comes in. Yeah that sure balanced it out.
There would be no wait for matches and once youre in a server you wouldnt have to search again. Matchmaking is pretty un-necessary because ranks dont mean shit in these games. We get matched with 15,000 match 5 star generals in Halo and lvl 100 retards in gears more often than not.
It's sad how pretty much all EA games have their own servers but blockbuster franchises like Halo and Gears don't.
Shit makes no sense whatsoever.
Halo has different hit detection. Even if you are lagging badly, if you shoot a dude where the dude is on your screen, that dude gets shot. Almost every time.
Sinista and I are about to start up some campaign shenanigans. join up nownownow if you want in
