Looks like they finally fixed bungie.net. Our win streak in team slayer was a little short of our estimates, only 60 straight.
I'll have to give the Needler a try again since I've been avoiding it in Halo 3 from my Halo 2 PC runs.
I like the look of the McFarlane figures and if they hold true to being more action figure and less cheap statue, I'll be buying many.
Yeah, too bad release is so far away on the figures (Mar 08 I think).
Needler is really only good mid-distances and pretty much only if you catch someone by surprise.
I can wait, gives me time to start setting aside some money for them. I have a huge amount of Halo 2 Joystiq figures (Spartans/Elites/Prophets) and no room for them to be in battle scenes until I get the library cleaned up again.
The Spartans have over 18 points of articulation each; the only McFarlane figure with more is the 10th anniversary edition Spawn. I really hope they keep this up; their usual attention to detail married with decent articulation could make them the dominant force on the figure aisle.
Too bad that while the Covenant figures all look to be decently jointed as well, Cortana is... a typical McFarlane statue.

I know I should've gotten the MVP achievement today but I didn't get shit. Why are the MVP achievement and Used Car Salesman achievement total ass and impossible to unlock on my copy?
To get Used Car Salesman just destroy a turret on a Phantom in the single player game. Not sure why you haven't gotten the MVP one if you're playing in a ranked game and get the MVP.
I know. I wasn't thrilled about the MVP myself.
And as far as destroy the turret goes, I've done it and I didn't get shit.
Then my only explanation is Halo hates you because you talk shit about it.

MVP is just fucked up. It still refuses to give that one to me in lone wolves.

Basically what it says is that the reason you might have been having weird issues with melee hits is, it doesn't go by who hit the button first, it goes by who had more health at the time of the melee attacks.
It explains a lot.
Like why quite a few times I'll go from a close firefight to meleeing someone who also had no shields, and suddenly I'm dead. I've wondered why I've had such a hard time stringing together kills when I'm on a tear, and that pretty much explains it all.

I think its as gay as the battle rifle honestly. I mean its work aroundable, unlike the battle rifle. But its pretty gay that if I barely survive a firefight (which is my M.O. in this game) and kill a guy, then turn around to another player in melee range, who wasn't in as bad of a firefight, and my reaction time is better than his, it ain't gonna save me because I took more damage than he did?

I didn't play enough Halo before H3 to have any point of reference. But I'm assuming that you prefer the Halo: CE no-lunge melees, which are probably infeasible online. I don't really mind the melee system but I do wish I knew how big the window was for a "simultaneous" melee.

That simultaneous striking based on health video explains a lot, but I don't see how anyone could think it's a good system. Speaking of which, and something that video reminded me of (awarding the player with slower reflexes the kill), I really hate the way shotgun vs shotgun battles work. Especially on a level like snowbound with the bullshit shield-door fighting. If I anticipate someone around a corner and shoot first with a shotgun, but I'm like a centimeter oustide insta-kill range, then reactively they fire and get the kill...hitting someone that close with the shotgun should push them back some. It makes sense thematically, and while their countershot would still damage you, you'd have next shot first.
It's not latency, it's just the melee lunge. Toned down a bit from Halo 2, which was even worse. There's nothing wrong with shotgun vs. shotgun battles.
It's not just the melee lunge, because I've watched replays where guys literally fly over 6 body lengths with a non-sword weapon.
It's all subjective, but I still think there should be being a disadvantage to being shot first. It just makes it so everyone waits until melee range to shotgun, which is dull. Actually, I don't know why anyone would argue againt close range shotgun knock-back. They already do it with spikers...each hit seems to cause a tiny pause, so dual spikers can hold someone out of a melee charge. Not sure if Plasma rifle still does that, no one's bothered to shoot me with one online yet.
Eh, to me shotgun battles are just all about knowing your weapon's range. It's like complaining that you lost an AR vs. BR battle crossmap. I didn't know about the Spikers pushing people back, that's pretty cool I guess.
This fucking MVP achievement is alluding me. I got the most kills with the least deaths in Lone Wolves again and still didn't get MVP. I want to kill.
Maybe try another playlist.

Finished the game on Heroic last night. The last two stages were fucking obnoxious solo on Heroic difficulty, especially the first part of the last stage.
The end sequence was freaking fun as hell though.
Now I'm gathering up the last of the skulls, then I need to try to do some legendary runs, but I'm definitely not doing that solo.
If the system gets back this week, I'll try to hop on and help whoever still needs to finish Legendary/Skull hunting. Personally, I want a terminal run and maybe a points run for the score achievements.
I need to do some points runs eventually too.

Fun games last night, especially when we went Big Team. I loved the last match we played because we were down 2-0 in CTF at Valhalla, and we rallied to win the game (granted, two people dropped on their team mid-way), but a win is a win.
Definitely some good games last night. It's always fun when you're winning.

I played for the first time in a really long time yesterday. It was really fucking disorienting. The first game, I didn't use grenades or radar, my aim was all over the place, and I kept trying to reload with X. :lol: It only took me like five games to get my BR right though.
Lone Wolves is the most broken gametype in HALO 3. It's just a stat boosters paradise for people who want to horde the grav hammers, snipe, shotty, and the bubble.Quote:
