Game Compilations

I was very disappointed that Blaster was pretty much unplayable due to slowdown in Midway Arcade Treasures. It sent me back to MAME pretty quickly.


I agree with all the recommendations so far. Here are some others that haven't been mentioned yet:

Intellivision Lives! - It's not a perfect as it's missing licensed stuff like TRON and AD&D as well as arcade ports but there's still plenty of cool games with added rumble, videos, and prototype games.

Sega Classics Collection - It's all remakes of old Sega games. Some of the remakes suck but it's worth it for Fantasy Zone and Virtua Racing alone.

Plus there's all the Sega Ages stuff left in Japan, some of which are remakes, some are direct emulation. Monster World Collection looks excellent.

Konami Classic Series: Arcade Hits on DS is pretty cool for playing some portable Time Pilot or Contra among others.

I've been meaning to get this, but I always end up buying something else. It's $5 at Best Buy.

Virtua Racing is as smooth as butter. It's really hard to go back to the old Saturn and Genesis versions, after playing the far superior SCC game.

I have all 3 Midway Arcade Treasures, Capcom Collection and Taito Legends on the Xbox. It's great that Midway and Capcom have leader boards, for you to post your high scores on. I was somewhat disappointed that TL didn't offer this feature.

It's everywhere as far as I can tell. Hell, we can order it from our distributor and we're just a tiny one location shop.

I have the Arcade Advanced collection for GBA, and althogh it only has six games, it was definitely worth the $15 I paid for it. Same goes for Capcom Classics Mini Mix, it only has three NES games, but it's worth it.

That Sega Genesis compilation for PS2 looks like all kinds of awesomeness, but I don't own a PS2 anymore and don't plan on getting another.

Does your Mini Mix crash on Bionic Commando about halfway through the game? Mine does so I'm wondering if it's defective or if they're all screwed.

I'm not sure since I haven't played that far in Bionic Commando yet (I mostly play Mighty Final Fight), but it wouldn't be the first time a Capcom GBA game was glitchy. I've never come across a copy of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo that didn't crash like mad, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival apparently has a glitch that can brick the cart.

I've probably got the most use out of the Tecmo compilation for XBOX, Monster World Collection and SF Alpha Anthology.

This thread makes me sad because with XBLA, PSN and VC, these cheap and awesome compilations are a thing of the past.
