The official site said Victorious boxing revolution had 3 control schemes. One was the nunchuck mode where you have to punch. The second was a point and click type setup and the third was classic controller setup.

If you're referring to the beginning of the game, I agree. It's awful. But get to Bryyo and the game gets great.
