Website Creation Help Needed!

Okay, so I'm creating the new site(s) for my school's radio station because they're giving me money for it. Yay!

Here's what I have thus far. Don't blame me, it's what they want.

Now, I have a couple of questions. I'm new to this Javascript game, here. Clicking on the Windows Media Player or Quicktime words there opens new windows with players in them. Fun! Now, what i would like to ask is how I can make them behave like links. I've been looking all over for a way to onMouseOver text color change them, but either it's so obvious that nobody's documented it or help doesn't exist. Just looking to change the text color on Mouse over is all.

Also, any idea as to why the cells that both are in are so damn tall? The top bar should be MUCH shorter and I can't figure it the hell out.

Thanks for any help. The main page needs to be up by tomorrow. Hell, I wanted to get that big PHP site ready for them, but they slammed this on me at the last minute with this deadline. Crazy.

style="cursor: pointer; cursor: hand;" -- I use this to create a hand cursor when mousing over the "British Muscle" table cell on my front page (http://www.jadedgamefans.com/).

Now, for some reason, I have a table that decides to get REALLY BIG and kill my header's height. AGH.

for your popup window links problem, <a href="#" onclick="window.open(bla bha bla)">listen now!</a> will work, and treat them as normal links

as for your table size problems, I have no damn idea but all those divs for your menu is pretty offensive to me as a webmaster :( I'm a kind soul, so I'll spend a bit of time tonight trying to clean up what you've done here and attach it when I finish (although I make no guarantees that it'll get done at all)

edit: I expect a kick-back! (new menu done by wonderful javascript framework prototypejs and scriptaculous, probably needs tweaking which can be done via menu.css for visual and mywcwp.htm for content, everything should be labelled & commented)

yes, that's why I vehemently defend my choice to do all my web work, whether it be html or php or hell sometimes even graphics with a text editor

edit for clarification: dreamweaver is a nice tool for cranking out an actual design, but no god damn way would I personally ever use the default output it gives me because it most likely is bloated to shit with empty, useless tags and wacky javascriptish hacks that only work with a certain percentage of browsers. Design with DW, clean up/reauthor with text editor.

This is working swell so far. thanks. I already added a few things. Only problem I'm having is that the search bar is broken. The last one used AJAX and had an overlay and the Google logo disappeared when you clicked on the field. But, otherwise, it just doesn't search.

I'll probably just copy the code from Google again, but if you've a better solution, I'd love to see it after baring witness to your amazing and mystical coding powers. You linked to a .js for the search, right?

I have found that doing anything in DW just slows me down. I typically slice my sites up in Fireworks then just build from the start using BBEdit (or any text editor) while testing in a browser. That's just my personal preference though. I haven't found any single person that has an identical work flow when it comes to building a site.

yeah I'd get the code from google to embed your search bar again, I did a 'save as webpage' which probably broke something fierce
