The Yankees and Red Sox are bidding on Santana to keep him away from each other; the Mets are bidding on Santana because they desperately need a lockdown ace to front their rotation. Reyes showed himself to be a prima donna and even gave away at-bats throughout the collapse; Omar should trade Reyes for a package of Santana and Joe Nathan. Santana-Pedro-Maine-El Duque with Dirty Sanchez, Joe Nathan, and Billy Wagner looming in the pen. That trade would make the Mets not only the best team in the NL but also competitive with the AL.

The Indians have a couple of decent shortstops that are MLB ready in Cabrera and Peralta, and the Met's have some pieces we need. A three way deal would be awesome, but no way the Tribe helps out somebody in their division.

The Dodgers sure helped their division-rival Giants by signing Andruw Jones. I thought those two teams hated each other.

This is true, but 5 years of Johan in the weak NL is worth 3 Jose Reyes' imo.

And before you NL bitches get on your podium remember, 427-329, that's the AL record against you in the last 3 years.

Also, reports are filtering in that the Twins are willing to accept a package from the Mets that doesn't appear to include any major league talent. Mets offered Carlos Gomez and 3 pitchers, Twins asked for either Fernando Martinez or another arm, Mets balked.
