Any cool artists want to help me out with some art of a joystick I am having made. I fucked around in GIMP for 20 minutes and came up with this rough draft. It is kind of dirty, but than again I never was to great with this stuff. The stick is going to be around 11.5 x 7.5 inches, the template is just a hair smaller than that. The box is going to be black and the buttons/ball are red. Any help would be great.

Do you have high-res assets to pull from? I took your images and superimposed the graphic. The desaturation makes the image compression particularly unbearable (in other words, it won't print well), and there's not a lot of contrast in values in Akuma's zone, so he doesn't really pop out. The button placement kinda obscures what he's doing as well.
If you had have hi-res art assets, I could try to throw something together.
Ditch akuma imo... work with the negative space. It'll rule.
I have the higher rez assets. I just compressed it for the purposes of the demo. I can upload some more stuff later I am bout to go to work.
Put Ryu's hadoken where the stick is. :p
put ryu's pee pee where the stick is, and then, like, use the buttons as hoos or boo cushions. like you could have Cammy lying down and she's twisted in such a way that you could see both. and then use the other as Morrigan and have her in some kind of ridiculous pose. and make it all obnoxiously animé styled, but NeoTokyo or Gold Diggers.
Bump - added some random pics. Not sure if they are good enough quality for print though.

People underestimate how important blank space is.
Also, not going with the straight across six button SF layout is a travesty!

The curved layout is fine and actually matches the natural arc of your fingers. It works great for SF, VF5, and any old-school Neo-Geo title.
Josh's suggestion is correct, by the way. But if you want more ideas, here's a design I would have used if I went with a non-GoPodular custom stick.
