Oh, man. The drive did feel like forever. Me and Nick went to Canter's after everyone split up and I didn't home until after 4 a.m. I had to peel the contacts off my eyes. Great image, huh? Lol.
Kudos on picking the turkey on rye, Nick.
Some highlights for me:
If you can make it to NYC June 7, do so. You don't have to be naturally funny or outgoing. You will have a good time.
- Sleeve obeying absolutely no traffic rules while inside a vehicle, but abandoning me to the late-night Hollywood streets, reportedly because he didn't want to jaywalk. He had no problem killing a transvestite and dragging him four miles along Sunset Boulevard, but he refused to cross the street where there was no designated crosswalk.
- SapphirePhoenix ready and willing to potentially face a mob of muggers (in high heels and a boobie dress) while all the guys she was with just stood in a group of inaction and let her go off alone. She went looking for me because there is a ridiculous lack of working ATMs where I went on the hunt for one, and she evidently has this do-gooder streak.
- Josh being Josh, and Rebecca being very gracious in the face of my questionable sense of social propriety.
- Opaque saying "cock" more than politicians say "the American people." He slightly drooled about every third time.
- Super Eggroll carrying around three slices of pizza for hours before finally leaving them as a "tip" at a bar.
- Prince Planet receiving extremely provocative text messages (apparently not from Opaque) but staying with us until the dinner was finished. I'm not sure if those came during the event or he was just showing off some earlier messages, but respect goes out to him for being so central to our LA meets.
- One last breakfast Sunday morning, with Jetman, Josh, Opaque, and Rhydant. I wish stormy had come along too, since I barely spoke to him Saturday.
- B-Ri, the angry drunk. All Mac users are full of pent-up anger, methinks. Also, the non-TNL friend he brought fit in well, unlike that obnoxious guy Shinobi128 brought to E3 2004.
- That random drunk man that joined us at Miceli's bar and let out a cloud of flatulence. I suspect we did meet Compass and just didn't know it.
I asked Rhydant to call me if anyone was doing anything after the Italian place since I had to work til 7:30pm and didn't want to drive up there just to hang out for a few minutes. Oh well, there's always next time, I guess.
Excuses are like assholes: TNL is full of them. But definitely make sure you get there next time, kuro. We were wondering if you'd come out.
We should videotape the next event and make it available online. The talk at Miceli's was saturated with old TNL lore, gaming discussion, and great, laid-back humor. It made me very proud to be a part of the site.
I just checked on Expedia, and a round trip flight in July from San Diego to New York (JFK) is only like three hundred and fifty fucking dollars. How can I pass that up?
Just set a CONFIRMED date and I'll whip out the Chase card.
Yeah, start up an official thread as soon as possible with a solid date so we can all start buying tickets on the cheap.
