Oh, man. The drive did feel like forever. Me and Nick went to Canter's after everyone split up and I didn't home until after 4 a.m. I had to peel the contacts off my eyes. Great image, huh? Lol.
Kudos on picking the turkey on rye, Nick.
Some highlights for me:
If you can make it to NYC June 7, do so. You don't have to be naturally funny or outgoing. You will have a good time.
- Sleeve obeying absolutely no traffic rules while inside a vehicle, but abandoning me to the late-night Hollywood streets, reportedly because he didn't want to jaywalk. He had no problem killing a transvestite and dragging him four miles along Sunset Boulevard, but he refused to cross the street where there was no designated crosswalk.
- SapphirePhoenix ready and willing to potentially face a mob of muggers (in high heels and a boobie dress) while all the guys she was with just stood in a group of inaction and let her go off alone. She went looking for me because there is a ridiculous lack of working ATMs where I went on the hunt for one, and she evidently has this do-gooder streak.
- Josh being Josh, and Rebecca being very gracious in the face of my questionable sense of social propriety.
- Opaque saying "cock" more than politicians say "the American people." He slightly drooled about every third time.
- Super Eggroll carrying around three slices of pizza for hours before finally leaving them as a "tip" at a bar.
- Prince Planet receiving extremely provocative text messages (apparently not from Opaque) but staying with us until the dinner was finished. I'm not sure if those came during the event or he was just showing off some earlier messages, but respect goes out to him for being so central to our LA meets.
- One last breakfast Sunday morning, with Jetman, Josh, Opaque, and Rhydant. I wish stormy had come along too, since I barely spoke to him Saturday.
- B-Ri, the angry drunk. All Mac users are full of pent-up anger, methinks. Also, the non-TNL friend he brought fit in well, unlike that obnoxious guy Shinobi128 brought to E3 2004.
- That random drunk man that joined us at Miceli's bar and let out a cloud of flatulence. I suspect we did meet Compass and just didn't know it.
I asked Rhydant to call me if anyone was doing anything after the Italian place since I had to work til 7:30pm and didn't want to drive up there just to hang out for a few minutes. Oh well, there's always next time, I guess.
Excuses are like assholes: TNL is full of them. But definitely make sure you get there next time, kuro. We were wondering if you'd come out.
We should videotape the next event and make it available online. The talk at Miceli's was saturated with old TNL lore, gaming discussion, and great, laid-back humor. It made me very proud to be a part of the site.
I just checked on Expedia, and a round trip flight in July from San Diego to New York (JFK) is only like three hundred and fifty fucking dollars. How can I pass that up?
Just set a CONFIRMED date and I'll whip out the Chase card.
Yeah, start up an official thread as soon as possible with a solid date so we can all start buying tickets on the cheap.
I'll start a thread tomorrow, but the official TNL East Coast meet is June 7, 2008.
Glad that I went. It was cool finally meeting a few people from around here.
Josh and his girlfriend were both cool as fuck and genuinely nice people. With some of the geeked out conversations that we were having I kept feeling bad for her being there having to listen to us, but she was definitely a trooper. I hope you can convince her to hang out and BS with us here, Josh.
Eggroll, nice guy. And he drove a long fucking way to come to see this, so all of you who bitched out and still live in California, I dont know what to say, but I know what Im thinking you r lame
SapphirePhoenix was way cooler than I expected her to be. Any female, that can talk Fable without batting an eye and look good doing it gets cool points in my book.I dont know how she survives in the greater L.A. area always running off by herself ninja-like all the time. But if she can take a tiger, then she can take a mugger or two.
Stormy is a pretty chill dude. I didnt know he had a Master's so he's pretty godamn smart too. I think he saved us from wandering around aimlessly through the greater ghetto's of Hollywood with the suggestion to go to the Cat and the Fiddle. I think we owe him bigtime for that.
Bi-Ri, was the only person, I expected not to like due to possible rampant Sony fanboyism, and I was glad that I was wrong.Awesome guy, and one of the only ones smart enough to bring a camera to this momentous event.
Prince Planet seemed really damn cool from the short time I got a chance to talk to him near the bar. Even though he only surfs long board ;) - Ill have to pick his brain for decent surfspots, again, (I forgot what the area he told me about was called :( ) so I will not get my shit kicked like Johnny Utah.
Nick, of course is good shit and is the man.He even bought breakfast for me this morning even though I wasnt quite a TNL Legend, but after he explained the criteria, it made me feel a bit better. It was something about cocks if I do recall....
Sleeve's an alright guy too. Wish I could have got to talk to him a bit more as well. By the time I got the chance to, it was way late at the jazz bar and I was already getting tired-er and silent-er by the minute when we left Micelli's.
Opaque and Rhydant were of course some cool motherfuckers. It wouldnt have been nearly as fun without them there. I actually, somehow blazed by them on the way to Miceli's :bang: They were the first TNL peeps I met when I got there, and after talking to them for 10 seconds, I knew I was among friends and it was going to be a fun night.
Ill definitely call some of you locals next time Im in the area, and I definitely need to hit up a show or two with Brett and Austin.
It sounds like a good time was had by all and I wish I could have made it. I'd be lying, however, if I said I would have rather been hanging around with my ex and a bunch of folks from an internet forum I post on when I had my parents and my woman here at the same time visiting me.
If it means anything, though, my parents and the woman tried to work it out for me to attend for a half hour or so: it was my own damn fault it didn't happen. Fatality.
I do want to hang out with Josh, tomorrow, though.
Is that sarcasm I detect?
That was a good one. No, seriously. I know I hate Opaque normally, but that was a good one.
You know I secretly love you, sweetie. I really want to meet you folks, and I'm completely up for a gathering of the locals. Perhaps us LA folks should head down near SD or something? I have a buddy who lives there I can stay with and such. This surprise visit of the parents and the woman came up because of multiple factors and I just didn't handle it well.
It's funny to hear that Sapphire apparently got the chance to prove herself tougher than you all. Also, she's the master of Fable, don't even try to front. :)
I'm not sure I understand? They were going to keep themselves occupied in Hollywood or whatever while I stopped in. Also, she's not my girlfriend.
We should all go to the Zoo or some shit.
It sounds kind of lame, but the Zoo really is the best in the world and it would lend itself to some awesome pictures. Afterwards we could all go to down town and hit up a nice place to eat and some bars.
Yeah, I love the Zoo. I like the drive down to SD, too.
I fucking love the Zoo. I want to go to the San Diego Zoo.
I'm down if you guys except bbobb, which really sucks are in a few weeks or so.
If some more people show interest I'll make a thread.
I may be going to San Diego in the next month or so. And I'll have to go to the zoo.
It kills me that I couldn't come out, I was hyped for it and had the day off, but I was offered more hours at work and had to jump at it, or suffer a poor check. I'm looking in to ways to get extra cash for the NY meet, but I think I'll save the vacation time for Comic-Con instead.
Those are some fun mother fuckers, and it's a shame we don't hang out more. I was looking forward to a long car ride with them, the last one produced some interesting conversation.
I was looking forward to meeting other CA TNL'ers like B-ri and Compass. We should hang out at Frank & Sons sometime.
Shit, me too.
Oh shits. I haven't been to the SD Zoo since I was like eight years old. And I live here.
Ya, lets do the zoo.
I'm down to go. The last time I went to the San Diego Zoo, I didn't get to spend as much time as I'd hoped. Not to mention, it was so hot that all of the animals were trying not to die from heat stroke (i.e. the Siberian tiger stretched out like roadkill).
Also, I want to check out downtown San Diego with locals. Any chance of that?
Yeah, feel free to call whenever you're in the area. I'm always up to go to L.A. and I'm the unofficial Long Beach tour guide for my non-South Bay friends.
Nick, I will be able to house 2 or so TNLr's for the New York trip. Guys, please base this on financial need and not "OMG MORE BEER MONEY" please. Also this offer is not extended to Ramon who will steal my furniture and Josh who will bring too much rock to my pad.
Fuck June 7th.
Thief there are just too many people to try to work around a schedule. June 7th is an awesome date Nick. Some good stuff going on in early June.
Allow me to rephrase.
Fuck. June 7th.
Best I can say is if you get over here, you qualify for a free place to stay.
Where would I put your furniture if I steal it? My room ain't that big.
You would use it for firewood in the Luna mansion, duh.
Sorry I couldn't make breakfast. I coma-sleeped until 11am and figured none of you guys would even be there.
Meeting everyone in person was definitely worth the drive (only 6 hours, really). Bye-Ree's buddy was very cool and should definitely join the collective here.
Kudos to Jetman for being smart enough to buy us all a round of drinks when there was only 4 of us at the bar.
I ordered a small Meat House pizza (a SMALL Meat House pizza) - because I'm trying to watch the weight - and they give me one the size of a Pizza Hut large with a candle on the bottom to keep it warm. I wish I would've went with the lasagna, but that wouldn't have been as funny to carry around.
Stormy left just when he was getting interesting.
I'd be down for a SD/zoo meetup. Opaque, make that thread. Depending on the number of LA locals that want to come down, there's probably enough SD locals that can offer up lodging to save people $.
When exactly is the Chicago gettogether?
October 11.
Interesting... I may have to hit that one.

I edited it. Is that better?
lol.
who the fuck is kb blacklion?
Some bitch.
LOL, I talked to Jon today and he couldn't remember Opaque's name, just, "The guy who talked about penises a LOT."
They said the same thing about Richard Simmons back in the day. LOOK WHERE HE IS AT NOW!
Yeah. He gave me the, "You're such a bitch-ass," look, too. You guys would have been proud. :)
Yeah, I flaked. I had a crazy fever though and was in bed for four days sweating. I suppose I should have come and infected the lot of you.
Wish I hadn't missed Roscoes though I love that place.
If it makes you feel better, pretty much everyone missed Roscoes.
Nick, Sleeve, Josh, Rhydant, Jet and Myself were the only ones awesome enough to experience it.
I wish I could have made it, to see y'all in the daytime. Though if I had showed up...I would have looked super ragged since I had got home that morning at 5:30 a.m., and everyone was meeting at Roscoe's at 9:30 a.m. =P.
Awesome because...I bet there were footsies involved.
Nick and I exchanged a HJ under the table. No gay stuff though...
For some reason, Im more particularly offended by Compass' reason for not showing up. He/she works in the 'game industry' and was afraid we'd talk shit about said company..... so?.....welcome to TNL. And no one here would have been dick enough to make him/her feel bad about this or put them on the spot enough to jeapordize said job.
Its almost like Compass is calling me a dick. Im kind of offended.
Would a dick let two random guys crash in his hotel room?
I THINK NOT!
Compass = the real Tommy Tallarico?
What are you talking about? You met Compass. He just didn't come to the table with us.
So...
Compass is James Lipton?
LOL! Classy!
After seeing the pic ... Him always having sand in the vag, him liking girly anime ... its all making sense.
This is compass imo

You misunderstood. I don't have any problems with people making fun of the company I work for. It's an activitiy I partake in myself on occasion.
Although I generally refrain from chiming in on games from my company -- as I see it as unprofessional -- I sometimes can't resist, or just forget. It's this freedom to make any comment about any game in the industry that I don't wish to give up. Maintaining anonymity means I don't have to worry (at least not as much) about potential legal issues, or just plain pissing off the higher ups.
If I was "outed" it really wouldn't be the end of the world, but I like things the way they are now.
I really can't see how this is an issue at all. Worst case you let them know you don't want to be in any pictures. That's really sad that you didn't go Compass, you're a part of the community, have been for a long time and while people disagree with you aren't a bad person.Quote:

Dude(tte?), we wouldn't have taken any pictures of you if you didn't want it. And if one went up by accident, you could have had me or any of the admins/mods (we have about twenty) take it down within minutes. Dolemite's been to New York meet-ups and we don't know what he looks like.
brendan fraser
You mean "Blacula," right?
Yeah, seriously. I thought it would have been cool to meet Compass. I cant imagine anyone at the meet-up making anyone else feel uncomfortable or like shit. But, hey, I guess some people just dont dig social stuff in general, so if its a personal preference like that, I guess I cant bash it too much.
I would be more pissed if I had actually made it out there as Compass is one of my favorites but whatever.
i can't believe you people are fussing over compass
yeah i'm really eating myself up inside
Burgundy is mad
Someone has a WICKED case of the "importants"
If Josh said anyone established as a bitch couldn't post in this thread, I would be cool with that.
Coming from you, I couldn't care less.
lol burn
Advocate, please try doing something you thought up yourself, k thx.
Served on a silver platter.
Hi, I'm myspace dumb. But when I click the link I go to what I assume is the main page. Somebody halp.
Hey if you search TNL the first thing that pops up is some hot sluts from miami called the TNL party girls, Nick you and I have to have a long talk about getting me into a leveraged buyout if this is your little horde of whores.
Make sure you log in.
Again, I don't do myspace. Oh well.....
Try this link, it'll get you to the main TNL page, then go to view pics.
