Starring Marky Mark.

I'm not sure what I think of this.
Me neither.
Mark Wahlberg is usually pretty good in the movies he's in and Uwe Boll isn't touching this so there is some hope. ..just some.. Hey, maybe this means a new Max Payne game will come out but since Remedy is busy with Alan Wake it'll probably be done by another dev.
i really can't say anything bad about Wahlbergs acting so i'll remain optimistic about this.
Marky Mark is a very solid actor who plays "everyman" type characters very well. Plus, in Shooter, he did some kick-ass action and fight sequences as well. This flick could be very decent.
Could go either way, I'm a big Max Payne fan so I'm hoping for the best.
Seriously, Marky Mark is one of the better actors and probably one of the few people who I'd trust to this role.
Also local radio station DJ in the afternoon says Marky Mark is the only guy he'd have sex with.
Marky Mark is a fine actor but I hope he is able to freeze his face in a strangley uncomfortable "I just crapped my pants" smirk for an hour and a half!
I always hoped that they would get Timothy Gibbs to do it. Voice would have been off...but come on.
This isn't a terrible choice though.
first pic of Walhberg as Payne.

He just looks like Marky Mark to me.
i always thought Eric Mabius was a dead ringer for Payne.

i also just found out he was in The Crow:Salvation.
If they manage to knock out a decent neo-noir type flick, I'll be very happy.
Mila Kunis of that 70's Show has signed on and
Quote:
will play an assassin who teams up with the title character to avenge her sister's death. Wahlberg plays Payne, a cop haunted by the tragic loss of his family who finds himself in the thick of a conspiracy when he investigates a series of murders.
Hmm, uhhh... is that good or bad? Still don't know how to feel about this.
Is that the redhead?
Unfortunately, no. But she’s still easy on the eyes.

OH NO I HOPE HOLLYWOOD DOESN'T RUIN OUR BELOVED MAX PAYNE VIDEOGAME SERIES!!!!
What the fuck is the big deal? The movie can't be as poorly written/acted/directed as the games (who ripped off most of their style from poorly written/acted/directed film noirs).
mmmmmmmmm, Mila.
I would willing penetrate any of Mila's orifices with my penis.
Though her high screechy voice requires that a dick be shoved in her mouth to enjoy it.
It's no higher, nor is it screechier than what I deal with now.
I see no problems at all.
Dayone.
What's with all the spiritual gobbledegook - angels and whatnot? I only played a bit of the first game, but I don't remember any of that. :wtf:
I think its a representation of his drug hallucinations. It seems like it will work a bit better than having him follow a line of blood through darkness, and randomly falling into a dark abyss for 20 minutes (like, 3 times).
This actually looks a lot better than I thought it would though. I'll see it based on this trailer (unless the next trailer kills it). Seems pretty faithful in tone overall.
Fuck YEAH !!!
Its like a Crow with Max Payne thrown in. Loving It !!!
Looks promising. I really hope the angles and spiritual stuff is a representation of his drug hallucinations like Mezz said.
Watching that actually makes me want to go back and play the games again. It's been a while and the first one was one of my all time favorite games.
Still don't know what to say. It looks good but it's a game movie so it'll just suck on all levels more often than not.
Looks decent. I have yet to be let down by Wahlberg (I refuse to see The Happening).
WHY THE FUCK DOES THIS LOOK LIKE A BETTER REPRESENTATION OF THE PUNISHER THAN THE LATEST PILE OF SHIT?!?
WHAT.THE.FUCK!
also: dayone.
No he didn't. It's easily the worst acting in his entire career.
I also await The Big Hit 2.
The Bigger Hit?
Whatever.
Big Hit 2 would make me happy.
I played the Max Payne PC game 3 years ago. I dunno.. but IMO, I am not that excited about this.
This looks like the sauce. I'll see it.
I'm down for this too, Walberg has said they did most of the action as practical effects. I'm looking forward to it.
Walberg is the man, is best movie is "The Big Hit" IMO the movie looks pretty cool from the trailer. I never really got into the games, tried the first one and stopped playing after the whole "follow the bloody lines" thing. My only gripe with the movie is that every time I hear Mila Kunis speak its gonna make me think of "Meg" from Family Guy
His best movie is Fear.
Fuck! i forgot about that one, yeah I'd agree there. Big hit is my 2nd favorite movie of his then. Fear was so awesome
"Mista Whalka.......LEMME IN THE FUCKIN HOUSE!"
The Corruptor was great, and Whalberg did decent job in it, along side of Chow Yun Fat.
Kunis as Mona Sax bugs me. I just can't see her pulling it off.
I went to school with a girl who looked exactly like Mona. First name was Nora too. WEIRD.
Just wondering if you need intervention.
Looks like Max Payne. I'm not sure what else you'd want out of it.
read the article ... pay attention to the last paragraph.
I did. I don't see what you're on about. Walburg doesn't play games?
If you were Walburg, would you play games?
They added another paragraph ... this ..
I didn't know about this one. And if I did I forgot.Quote:
while Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean) has been tapped to direct Bioshock, slated for 2010.
hmm.Quote:
It's got a story line more complex than most video-game movies."
Well, what the fuck? Do you think Marky Mark wrote the movie? Why's that matter?
Its his press agent. The HMM was more like hmmm ... no shit.
Nitpicky nerd shit. Not relevant.
Your the one who asked. You could have left the comment alone, but you had to know.
Going outside and making a whistle out of a blade of grass = more insightful than that comment. :D
Oh yeah like your rep comments? :D
It looks like it is getting away from the source material now.
I remember thinking it was going to suck when I first heard this movie was coming out, but that trailer has me completely enticed. I'll have to catch this one.
lol dole.

New info. Nothing THAT new, but there's a trailer at the bottom of the Variety page. This looks good.
You guys really getting good vibes from that trailer? I didn't think the trailer looked bad...but I didn't think it looked good either. It just was...a trailer.
Aww. Max Payne so sad.
Kick ass! Looks to be about forty times better than Wanted.
I like the style, but will keep expectations bit lower just in case :p
looks pretty neat, hope it turns out well
I am so there.
those better be some acid trip scenes or ftl
Two really slow moving thumbs up from me.

International trailer. Much better constructed and presented. Makes movie look even better.
I finally watched the trailer. Now, I've never played the games, but I thought Max Payne was like some gritty street action drama. I see fucking demons and shit flying around in the movie trailer, was there supernatural shit like that in the games?
No, but his dream sequences were.
There was surreal stuff like that from drug trips and hospital visits (you get so beat up when they put you under at the hospital you play through nightmares). Lots of wild flash backs, with blood trails and crazy voices. That sort of stuff. No flying demons, but it's not that far off from the source material. Max Payne has a lot of inner demons.
I bet Max Payne is actually gonna end up fighting angels and supernatural shit. Because in the trailer the one chick goes "What did we just see..." when that valkyrie thing takes that guy out the window. And then a voiceover says "the devil is building his army..." or some bs like that. I dunno, I kinda doubt the movie is taking the metaphorical route and instead they're going the literal route.
I don't really have a problem with that though, I never thought the Max Payne story was particularly riveting. The international trailer looked really cool. Better than the first one I saw. Looks like it might be a cool action movie.
Yeah some of the lines in the trailer scare the shit out of me. I don't want to see anything supernatural in a Max Payne movie.
I don't give a shit about the Max Payne "canon", personally (I tend to skip a lot of cinemas). Make a neat looking movie.
I'm sure "the devil" will just be the ganglord. I highly doubt it'll be a literal devil.
movie just got fucked in the ass by the MPAA, rating it an R
Quote:
John Moore, director of the Max Payne movie adaptation, is pissed. Moore has a bone to pick with the Motion Picture Association of America for slapping his movie with an R-rating, something he tells Das Gamer he didn't seek out; Payne was supposed to be PG-13.
Moore says that the MPAA hobbled his movie, financially, with an R because it's dark and "feels R," theorizing that the rating body "gave The Dark Knight a PG-13 rating and basically sucked Warner Bros. cock."
The Max Payne director says that Wahlberg intentionally avoided some salty language and that Moore "didn’t go cutting people’s heads off and ripping their eyeballs out just for the fun of it" to help nab the PG-13, something he's still lobbying for. Perhaps a reversal of MPAA and film studio roles could help, John? MPAA volunteers need blowjobs too.
