I finally caved in and bought a PSP Slim. Since it is region-free (for games anyway) do you guys have any recommendations for any good import games? I don't read any Japanese so no RPGs but any other type of game is cool with me.

Salamander Portable (Or Parodius Portable. Yay for Konami shooters)
DJ Max Portable (Or the sequel - the only worthwhile series of portable Bemani games)
Wipeout Pure (European - waaay better downloadable tracks, ships, and music)
Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins Kai (Rebalanced version of UGnG with no stupid item collection)
Guilty Gear Judgement (Japanese - includes GGXX Slash instead of GGXX#R)
Intelligent Qube is good because it's Intelligent Qube, but bad because it's not as good as the PSX version, and you could go get the PSX version and emulate it on the PSP.
Shinobido Homura is cool if you like other versions of the game, but it's no Imashime.
I second DJ Max Portable. It is so, so very good. 2nd one is great too.
Initial D is a superb arcade racer if you like the anime or racing games in general. It is very hard though, as I am stuck about 30% in.
Why stop there with the Konami shooters? The Gradius Collection for PSP came out in the US and can easily be had for $10 or less, but none of the others did, and you neglected to mention Twinbee, which is lovely.
Exit got a sequel in Japan. I couldn't tell you if it's any good though. I need to get my hands on it at some point.
why mention any shooters at all?
The PSP hates any games that you would want to use the D-pad with.
vastly improved?
I still don't get this. I've never really had trouble with it outside of Spectal vs. Generation, and I was quicker to assume it was the developer's fault considering GGXX#R and Slash played just fine for me. Didn't have much of a problem with anything in emulation either. Maybe I have a magic PSP, just like I have a magic launch PS2 that never had a single DRE and a few magical PS1s that never died. I find the 360 d-pad to be much worse.
DJ Max Portable sounds fun; I LOVE music games. Should I get the first one or is the sequel better? I always wanted to play the Parodius shooters too, they always looked so cute and quirky. I have never heard of Shinobido Homura, I'll have to google that one.
Edit: Shinobido Homura looks like a not shitty version of Tenchu. Not bad, might pick that one up too.
Double Edit: Nevermind, the game got terrible reviews.
Honestly aside from the RPG's there isn't a lot on the PSP not available in the US.
The few worth checking out are listed here.
Also, I recommend picking up the European release of Tales of Eternia since Sony of America denied it's release.
Yeah, that's the thing. Shinobido Homura is like a (very) lite version of the PS2 Shinobido Imashime, which is the best stealth game I've played in a while. I liked Homura if only because I loved Imashime, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it to everyone.Quote:

Whoa, I forgot all about Itadaki Street. I never even opened it.
Itadaki Street is fun, I like the Mario one on DS. :)
Don't you need a decent grasp of Japanese for Itadaki??
No, it's easy to figure out what's going on and there's no story besides "beat the other guys!". You might need a menu translation or something.
Yeah, with a menu translation you'd have no problem playing it. It's just a board game so it's not that hard.
