Riki-Oh: The Legend of Ricky

If you're bored and bumming around the internet have a window open playing this. It's a pretty rare movie but has a cult following. If you like crazy asians and over the top violence I'm pretty sure you'll like it.

Basically asian dude goes to a super prison, pisses off the prison gangs and gets into one fight after another. Some ridiculous moments include a guy with a knife cutting his stomach open to try and strangle the hero with his intestines.

I think everyone who watched pre-John Stewart Daily Show has seen the head smash clip.

I bought this as a gift, and watching it was definitely a unique experience. I kept waiting for the set to fall over, a prop to break, etc. :lol:

This movie was featured (indirectly) on the first Daily Show ever.

I'm pretty sure that pretty much everyone on TNL knows this movie.

Is the DVD actually rare? Could I sell mine for good money?

I laughed so hard when Ricky's girlfriend just up and jumps off a building for no reason, and the dummy they threw lands the complete opposite way she threw herself off.

I was pretty sure that everyone everywhere knew this movie. But... I think that was just college.

Not even close. That description reads like it was written in the mid-90s or something. Even still, the movie came out in '91. Long-lost. Yeah. You can get the DVD at Best Buy.

I owned this for years undubbed and unsubbed on VHS, which was pretty entertaining in its own right since my friends and I got to make up the motivations for everyone. About maybe four years ago I finally saw it dubbed and in a theater, but IIRC it was slightly censored with them putting a red filter on top of certain scenes. Such an awesome, terrible movie.

Cinematic masterpiece. One of the first DVDs I made a point to go out and get.
