So far it's pretty clear that the vast majority of the IGN staff started gaming in the mid-1990s, unless all the older stuff is higher on the list.

In theory, practice makes perfect. In execution, however...

Quake 2 barely better than Rayman 2? This will be a funny list.

Props for Archon making the list again (just barely) although they should know Activision didn't develop it or publish any version besides the NES one.

Not too bad a list so far although I'm expecting it to piss me off when all are announced. I still can't fathom how Perfect Dark, a disappointment even by console FPS standards, could possibly make any top 100.

Agreed. When you do some genre comparisons, it really falls apart.

Goldeneye and Perfect Dark over Quake II?
Alone in the Dark over Silent Hill 2?

Nope, I just got a list of games and was asked to write something about them. Including several games I've been known to bitch about on this board. Most of the ones I wrote (ok, all but Ninja Gaiden) are higher on the list, so I can't be specific yet.

As I understand, the list is based on a vote by all the in-house staff, so at least you guys can hold MarkRyan partly accountable.

Yeah, the order of the list seems pretty damn random again. To be honest though, I would put Rayman 2 a hell of a lot higher than number 99. IMHO it was actually the best 3-D platformer ever made before Mario Galaxy was released.

Also, Okami has no place on a "best games of all time" list. It MIGHT make a list of best PS2 games, but the hype behind that game is still unbelievable. The game is a solid 8 AT BEST.
