Did the Drafthouse already have its The Wizard screening?
Never met Bruce Campbell, but Lou is awesome in person.
Watched Superbad last night for the second time (first time was a shitty cam) and I think I enjoyed it more the second time than the first. Very funny.
I want to see The Orphanage, I may try to see it this week.
I "met" Bruce when I was in college. It. Yeah, it was great. He seemed impressed that I made fun of his mustache in Sundown: The Vampire Retreat. Stayed after his talk to do 200-odd autographs and pictures.
I don't get all that praise Superbad gets. We thought it sucked donkey ass, couldn't even finish it, really. Just wasn't funny, just stupid.
It was ok, it dragged on a lot but had some really awesome parts that made it worthwhile.
Superbad definitely had its moments. Not filled with them but I enjoyed it immensely.
I watched this last night, and was really entertained by this mad trainwreck of a movie. I did some reading on it today, and got a few questions I had answered. The plot makes a bit more sense when its written out, but its still pretty jumbled. Also, it would probably help if one had known there are THREE graphic novels that are prequals (hence the movies sections being 4,5, and 6). I guess there was/is a 7,8, and 9 planned. Not sure what format those would be in, if they ever get made considering this only did $300,000 box office, and cost $17 Mil..
I would recommend watching it because its unlike anything else (except maybe Mulholland Drive, or Brazil. But not nearly as good as either of those). Its got plenty of atmosphere, and you see some odd performances by a really odd cast. For instance, it contains four Saturday Night Live allums, John Laroquete and Christopher Lambert.
A lot of it is satire and meant to be a joke, but its hard to tell whats serious, and what isn't based on the music cues, and the actors performances.
That finger thing really bothered me the entire movie. Just did not seem to fit the character, or maybe it was the Rocks idea of "This will make him seem weird!" or something. His characters behavior changed a whole bunch anyways through the movie with no rhyme or reason, so I guess it just fit in with all the other "WTF" moments.Quote:
Rock did had some great presence, his fingers got such a workout
Conan mounted his desk to a mobile lift last night. It was awesome.
I used to love it when he and Andy would take the desk "out for a drive".
