Any director with any kind of balls isn't going to like CONSTANT DEMANDS from a studio. Apparently they second-guessed him at every turn. The whole story's out there on the inter-webs.

And where's my HD commando!Quote:
I wish Aliens was in HD. fucking lazy ass Fox.
Oh it was bad, he came in with the movie close to if not already going over budget. Sets were already built, and a new script only about half written. The producers fought with him constantly, even trying to tell him he should shoot scenes differently then he wanted to. And finally he put together a rough cut to point out things that needed further budget to shoot to finish the movie, but instead the studio ripped it away from him and recut it their way, just filming a new ending that they wanted.
It really is a big load of shit, you should also check out the Alien 3 disc to really understand it all.
I need to watch all of the Alien movies again--it has been a couple of years and I want to get my hands on the extras. I haven't seen Alien since its theatrical re-release a few years ago, Aliens in maybe longer, and I don't think I've ever seen all of Alien3. I mean, I probably have, but I really only remember the beginning and end.
Watched The Searches again last night--liked it a lot more the second time around. I thought it was too long and boring at first, but really rewarding, beautiful and well acted.
I did a Rear Window/Disturbia double feature last week and was really surprised by how much I liked Disturbia. It has that sort of major release/product placement/glossy modern movie sheen to it, but it still managed to be intense and play with the Rear Window premise without being stale or derivitive. The ankle bracelet thing was actually a really clever way of keeping him contained enough to be helpless. Well played.
oh its out there, but the original BD isn't sold anymore (presumably so they can clean it up further and release the DC edition)
on topic, Shark Attack III: Megalodon. Worth it for this amazing line alone (no clicky if at worky)
I remember stumbling on Shark Attack III when I was in high school just skimming through the channels.
Best night of my life.
Shark Attack III is made of win.
I love the fact that everyone is badly dubbed, the awesome use of stock footage for the sharks, and the insanely horrible yet awesome CG at the end.
The shark just eats shit whole without a second thought. Jet ski shootin' at full blast? Whateves, it's fucking dinner.
I love all the Alien films (yes, even Resurrection), and have started watching them in order with my son, who is now old enough to be able to both sit through them (there are some pacing issues with all of them) and not get nightmares. So far we've only watched 1 and 2, but he's hooked.
