I watched The Hobbit cartoon movie. An old favorite.
i hated Barry Lyndon
OK, I finally got to see Diary of the Dead. Man, what a dissapointment. It could have been good and it had a cool premise but was executed so poorly. I love Romero to death but this is one of the worst zombie movies I have ever seen. I did like some stuff:
-hardcore Amish dude
-melting the black zombies head with acid
-some of the initial outbreak footage
The rest was just terrible. If you are going to do the hand-cam route get some NATURAL actors. B-movie acting with cliche cookie cutter characters and hand-cam realism do not mix well. I was cringing everytime somebody spoke. It was really bad. I will just pretend this movie doesn't exist.
earlier tonight I watched "100 million BC"... not 10,000 BC, not 10 million BC, but 100 million BC
frankly I'm shocked that my eyeballs didn't melt out of their sockets watching that hot stinking garbage; it's amazing how far Michael Gross has fallen, since apparently all he does now is typecasted roles in godawful movies that have a lower budget than my yearly income about poorly animated time travelling dinosaurs
finally watched Ratatouille last night. definately better than Cars and there were a lot of technical "OMG" moments technology wise. it's amazing how far Pixar has come in a short time.
I watched the Orphanage last night. It was really good.
Watched Atonement and loved it. It is one of the best films I have seen this year. It is a beautiful and haunting movie. The score is excellent as well. Highly reccomended.
Chaos
Loved it. Wasn't really sure what to expect as I never really heard much on it, and the DVD has been around $15 since it came out. Gotta say I enjoyed it a lot more than War. Not the most original story line, but it keeps you guessing. I will say I saw the twist coming, if not only because I had War fresh on my mind. Now if you really don't want any spoilers don't read past this, but I love it how the bad guy wins in the end. You spend most of the movies getting to know the character and liking him, so you don't feel cheated when he walks off at the end
Sweeney Todd.
Well, I hate musicals. Having said that, I thought this was decent, yet forgettable, music/song wise. Performances were great though, Johnny Depp, was great as guy, who has nothing left inside of him, but revenge, and even his singing was decent enough. I also liked HBC as practical Mrs Lovitt. :)
I was surprised by the amount of spray gore it had, especially for big, artsy type of production. Burton always best dealing with dark and macabre subjects.
It did feel a bit too long, but end was satisfactory and not sugary sweet, but hey how can you finis this in any other way.
