No, it is a tragic and moving film. It is actually quite gory in parts. I hadn't seen any ads or trailers for it. The score as I said before is awesome and the characters interact with it sometimes but not in an obvious way. It has an interesting ending as well.
Edit: I loved Sweeny Todd. I really like musicals and it mixed that with bloody gore, which I also like. Poor Borat!
Borat got it good :p Hated the prick :p
qft, indeed.
Haven't had a lot of time for movies lately thanks to school, but here are a couple recents:
Dan in Real Life - This was billed as "romantic comedy" but it was neither sweet nor funny. Steve Carell, who will win an Oscar one day, did an amazing job.
I can't remember the last time I saw a new-release non-cynical romantic comedy. Someone help me out with a recommendation?
Aswang - This was about an evil creature that feeds upon pregnant women's fetuses. It was a piece of cinematic crap, but the scene where the aswang is on the roof and extends its long red churro-looking tongue through the window, under the door, and into a sleeping girl was hilarious, especially since the tongue gets slammed in a door and the aswang falls off the roof dangling from her tongue until her son comes and severs it.
The fact that there was no real reason for her to be on the roof in the first place made it even funnier.
Taxi Driver - I'd never actually seen this whole thing in one sitting, amazingly. Frickin awesome.
Jaws - Still great. Spielberg makes terror look easy.
Legend - Tom Cruise sucks, but the luminous Mia Sara and the magnetic Tim Curry more than make up for him. This is a personal favorite. They just don't do makeup like that anymore.
I want Legend on Blu-ray !!!
Watched King of New York tonight. The second half kicked ass. I did feel like there were 30 or 40 minutes missing in there somewhere though.
"Hey. You."
You know, Teen Wolf both does and doesn't hold up well.
It has the best music ever though.
You know, I'm watching Aliens right now and I'm about 40 minutes in. Yeah, I'll admit that it's a very long first act. Very long. But at the same time I can't think of another action type movie that has such a rich and likable cast of secondary characters. I mean look at the Sarge, he's in the movie for maybe 20 minutes and he's already more well developed and likable than a lot of main characters in many movies.
Yeah Aliens rocks.
Express elevator to Hell, going down, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I've watched a bunch of shit recently
Little Children - Never heard of this one, was really surprised by it. I'm considering making it my movie club pick now.
Eastern Promises - This movie was pretty much as awesome as i expected. It is insane that Viggo didn't win the oscar, he is so genuinely eastern European down to the slightest of mannerisms that if i didn't know his previous work i would have assumed he was a foreign actor like the majority of the cast.
Click - I knew this movie would be bad. Adam Sandler should stick to rad movies like Punch Drunk Love.
