They line up and fuck the blowhole first.
The movie about Linda Lovelace was decent. Some boobs I've been wanting to see for a long time...
Yeah I didn't really dig that episode, but the rest was great.
I don't understand at all how they faked his death... . EDIT:Actually I can think of a lot of body double forcing Watson to stand in that specific spot and going into the confrontation with Moriarty knowing he needed to fake his death kind of things that make sense but it's frustrating not being in on it until the next season.
I watched the Fist of the North Star animated movie last night. Now, when you need to compress a fairly large anime/manga into two hours it is necessary to cut things out, but they left the most important part In: lots of heads exploding. Awesome.
Sherlock was great until it disappeared up its own ass.
She looks downsy.
saw ninja 2: shadow of the tear tonight
decent fight scenes, lol plot, scott adkins is a really underrated actor
I watched "Christmas Cupid" on Netflix with my parents. My dad always picks these movies to watch that he thinks my mom will like. Wow, was it bad.
She probably liked it.
Oh! Also, RED. Super silly, but a lot of fun. And Mary Louise Parker, damn. She didn't even get any billing on the DVD box. At all. WTF? She was crucial.
I watched Les Miserable today. Not sure what the fuck all the fuss was about. Was it just me or was the singing mixed at odd keys and stuff? I didn't enjoy most of it. Melodramatic play-stuff. The equivalent of a 20 minute guitar solo to a rockstar. But I guess that was the nod to its broadway roots. Just wasn't my thang.
it would have been better with no music and the teen love story being completely cut
I enjoyed going around the house singing everything I was doing as a musical afterwards.
(i recommend doing this anyway)
only if you ended everything with John Paul John
That's the Beatles mashup version.
Phonetically it's in the ballpark.
I wouldnt think a lot of Americans would relate to the name Jean.
Not allowed to Rep CKA, but thanks for the heads up. I liked Ninja even for how bad it is and I like Scott Adkins in most everything, hoping he lands some better movies.
Amanda Seyfried has to work to shake off her ditzy blonde typecasting, but she's hot . Winona Ryder, bleh.
He's going to blame this on his phone too.
And he thought it wasn't a good purchase!
how will I go on knowing I gave the English equivalent of something I don't care that much about?
Ninja 2: Shadow of the Tear
That title is as meaningless as it sounds, as are many of the scenes in this flick. Adkins is a great physical actor, and a believable action protagonist. He has a long history with director Isaac Florentine, and N2 is full of Florentine'isms (in a good way) that you can recognize all the way back to Special Forces. Fight scenes are pretty good in a pg-13 sort of way (I would have adored this film as 13 year-old), but the story is just too dumb. Not just stupid in an action movie way, but a practically nonsensical, roughly coherent series-of-scenes way that starts veering toward stunt/choreography exhibition and away from movie.
Compare to something like Fist of Legend (Jet Li), which is also structured around a series of fight scenes, but each one has gravity and advances the plot in a simple, satisfying way. Ninja 2 also introduces a recurring novelty weapon but never does anything interesting with it (even the finale death), and lacks in any sort of female fight scenes or titillation (even though the female lead from N1 shows up).
I was a little buzzed while watching and enjoyed it, but I don't know who I'd recommend it to.
Inside Llewyn Davis
Welp. That was spectacular.
Wolf of Wall Street. Those three hours FLEW by. Would watch again.
Caught Wolf of Wall Street last night. Holy fucking drugs & tits & ass that was fun. Leonardo was brilliant and McConaughey's limited screen time was fucking awesome, but Jonah Hill's character didn't do it for me.
Hard to say where I'd rank this among Scorsese's films. Great movie, but I don't think it would crack his top five.
I liked it a lot. The expired quaalude scene had me losing my shit.
That along with the lunch scene had me rolling. I'd totally support a kickstarter for a spin off movie of McConaughey's character.
The last act had such uncomfortable and tense moments. The last fuck ever, which was pretty much rape and his reaction after his wife requests a divorce. I know the whole Leo deserves an Oscar has been said to death, but shit man, he deserves it now more than ever.
until she figured out how to make him cum quick, yeah. The entire scene at the house until the car crash was tense, and one shot if I remember correctly.
Man of Tai Chi was pretty good! Rza got to make his kung fu movie with The Man with the Iron Fists and this is Keanu Reeve's swing at it. It doesn't break any molds for the genre, but it's all competently done and well paced. There is a ton of fight scenes, Yuen Woo-Ping did the choreography (spots of wire work here and there). Hu Chen is a hell of a fighter, he's in just about every fight. Good times for flying feet and fists. There's some unintentional hilarity here and there, but that makes me like it more (there is a shot of Reeves near the end with him doing a villainous laugh that is unbelievable. I want it for an avatar, I should have ripped an image before I sent the disc back).
I'll grab a clip when I get around to watching it. I appreciate reaction images.
He's on the ground when he does it. I was howling when it came up, they cut back and forth to it a few times.
Wreck-It Ralph
I seem to recall reading a lot positive responses here when this was fresh, but man, was this a stinker. Really nothing redeemable at all. The videogame references were cute but dried up quickly and you were left with a film that could have had its connection to videogames completely removed and the story/message would have remained the same. It seemed like there was a team that was really in to videogames and pitched for it, worked around a ton of studio demands, and then just sorta cobbled it all together with no coherent vision at the end.
There were 3-4 big metaphors working throughout the narrative, some layered, and all mostly just paradigms of self-realization. But the writers jumped between them with little consideration, and I wouldn't say a single metaphor makes sense within the scope and logic of the movie. Music was awful, Lynch was a distracting and odd VA choice, action scenes that helped establish the rules of a game universe later became just...because (and the rules were poorly conceived and abandoned besides), and there wasn't anything likable about the movie at all until the cute credits sequence...which was just little game homages, but, they didn't wear out their welcome.
do not recommend
The best part of the movie was the first half hour where it's all videogame references but they haven't started the story yet.
Hunger Games
Jennifer Lawrence sure is in this movie.
I want to bang Effie Trinket. Thats all I really have to say about those movies.
Man of Tai Chi is a good film. I especially like the earlier fights with no enhanced sound effects, just two dudes kicking each other's ass.
Saw Hobbit, Smaug is amazing. Didn't have problem with the pacing unlike the first one (trollzzzzz).
Kick-Ass 2, not as good as the first, but still good and Chloe Moretz owns. I didn't realize she was the little sister in (500) Days of Summer, so I rewatched it last night and it was even better second time around.
Oh yah, Superman sucks shit, I want my 2 hours back. What else... Red 2, that sucked too. Fuck Bruce Willis for mailing this one in and the way he treats the "little people" while promoting this shitfest. Pacific Rim, meh, overhyped film, reminds me of Independence Day.
Alien Resurrection's Wikipedia summary was silly. I wanted to have a handle on the canon before watching:
Prometheus
Ridley Scott somehow wrung a wonderful movie out of a terrible script (Vickers: I know................... FATHER!). This might be his most excessive movie yet. I'm not sure there's a single scene without an overt narrative and/or formal reference to Prometheus and/or Jesus. Holloway, in the original script, has a line about the Engineers sending one of their own to Earth to save it about 2,000 years ago only to be crucified. Hard to believe he cut it.
I love this movie and Ridley Scott.
it's implied in the movie anyway.
I really didn't like Prometheus. I feel like I should give it another shot, but it is so far down the list I don't know if I'll get around to it. I have all of Battlestar, all of Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, I want to watch the Wire again, The new Star Trek Joint, Pacific Rim (needs a porno parody) ALL OF THE THINGS.
Don Jon.... more like Yawn Jon.
Pitch Perfect. Thought it was great. Anna Kendrick's audition doing cups was good. It's a fluffy happy movie so if you like that kind of thing it works well
My son's chick loves this movie, so it's on in my living room at least once a week.
Rebel Wilson is hottt.
The new battles tar isn't worth your time josh. St and even Babylon 5 are better. Shit the first season of far scape is better
This on top of your even more horrible than usual sentence structure and spelling prove that you're high.
My dad and I watched the OG Battlestar 30 years ago. The goal is to do the same with at least some of the new one, so yeah, I'm gonna watch it.
Also, Farscape's first season is hideous, and Babylon 5 was as exciting as watching plants grow.
My roomates are watching Enterprise and it is just horrible. Everything I like about how Star Trek is done seems to be absent.
From what I've heard it's bad and then gets a lot better near the end when they knew they were getting cancelled and went crazier with the stories. I've never gotten around to watching it myself.
Scott Bakula needs to stick to Quantum Leaps.
I'm not surprised that you like the weird insane later far scape more than the well structured early season s.
I have no idea if b5 holds up. The effects of season one were subpar, the story for better or worse was like war and peace , and the last installment, b5 excaliburwtf was made for scifi change garbage.
I think a lot of it is that Scorpius/Harvey is a better antagonist than Crais, who is basically the dude from Clerks running a starship.
Don Jon - I thought it was good, even if those ARENT NEW JERSEY ACCENTS THEY ARE STATEN ISLAND FUUUU
Superhero movies are shit, but I'm going to watch Don Jon.
Bad Grandpa was non-stop cheap laughs
American Hustle is good. Like, really good. On a lot of levels. Not the least of which is the Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence cleavage level.
It's one of those movies with a world it's hard to imagine anyone regretting spending two hours in. Best of 2013 imo.
Pacific Rim. A bizarre combination of the Wonder Twins and King of Monsters. Very shiny, and I don't regret watching it, but I don't think I'll watch it again any time soon.
I like the monster yelling underwater.
Also, I can't accept that Stringer is British. It fucks with me.
Hail Satan.
Watched the first episodes of Space Dandy and season 4 of Downton Abbey.
Space Dandy is... a show.
Downton Abbey remains amazing.
I watched the last episode of Intelligence (2007) and the first episode of Intelligence (2014). The timing is coincidental as the shows aren't related. I was late to the former since I wrongly assumed it sucked. The new one's okay so far.
Everything past the first season of da is cheap trash in fancy clothes.
Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons - Stephen Chow's latest flick and is yet another highly entertaining movie. It's a shame he doesn't have access to a bigger budget, but the low-rent look of a lot of the CG (and there's a ton of it) doesn't stop the movie from being awesome. The angle he was going for with this story felt very weird at first, and Chow managed to throw me off the trail I that I thought he was laying out even though he was really doing what I expected all along. The beginning is perhaps an overly-long setup, but past that it's pretty great throughout. The blood bit with the bandits was hilarious.
Now to wait for a release of Donnie Yen's Monkey King.
I just watched Equestria Girls and it was everything I wanted it to be.
All of Supernatural with Justi.
ALL of it...
Supernatural is sometimes corny and a little dumb, but I like it.
I liked the first couple seasons, will probably never see the rest but that's ok!
Sherlock's going on again, Cucumberbund and Bilbo are adorable, not much going on otherwise.
Watched an episode of Bones, Idun'geddit.
Emily Deschanel.
I watched season 1 of Broadchurch. It's an excellent crime drama with characters that seem more realistic emotionally than in most shows.
True Detective
Watch it
This.
Sightseers -- Chick flick. About psychopaths. Recommended!
I never thought of it as a chick flick but I agree it's great. The Kill List (from the same director) is also recommended.
And yeah, True Detective is off to an impressive start.
Carrie.
It was okay. Moore is creepy and Moretz is too cute and pretty to be Carrie. Prom scene was pretty good though, even though Carrie is more like a superhero with her power. I give it a C at best.
I've got a Way Not OK crush on that girl.
Post evidence.
Why do you think I subject myself to an average movie (at best)?
She did an interview on the Ron and Fez show, and i was floored. Not at ALL the superficial child star i was expecting. I wish there was a clip on youtube, it was really good.
Watched Wolf of Wall Street this morning sobering up from a party night on Saturday. Honestly one of the funniest movies I've ever seen–every drug trip out session had me in stitches.
I'm waiting for it to hit on demand. I want to watch it but 3 hours, I'm probably gonna want to take a break at some point and don't want to miss anything.
Wolf on Wall Street- The first half was pretty good butonce it hit the second half I had to force myself to keep watching, and even then I am still only 2/3's of the way through. I didn't find the drug scenes all that hilarious or crazy, I suppose it would be more fun and exciting for people who never do drugs. Part of it almost felt like I was watching entourage. The good of it was in the up and coming part of the story, the way that the character became this crazy super rich trader. Once he got there, I stopped caring, and I don't care if he gets caught by the FBI or not, and I don't care if his relationship is ruined. It all feels like well worn territory. I'll watch the other 1/3 for completion sake sometime. Diff's nytimes trader story was better than this whole movie.
American Hustle- The acting was really great in this. Everyone involved played their characters well and I didn't entirely understand the characters and motives, in a good way. It's not a great film and I even struggle to call it good, but at least it didn't feel like it was a waste of time. I watched it strictly on ARBM's rec.
The Artist- Fucking fantastic, second time I have seen it I love this movie and after watching the other two lukewarm ones listed above it blew them out of the water. Jean Dujardin and John Goodman can do SO much emotion with just their faces that I want to go back and watch the silent movie greats when I have time. Fantastic 10/10, female lead is ugly though if that bothers you.
Maybe the Bejo I saw in The Artist really was a figment of my imagination. There's no way anyone would think she was ugly.
I'm sorry you didn't like Science Oven, Anthony.
Perhaps she was purposely pushed into a 20's look that I found unappealing? She looks much better in photographs it seems.
I liked how those two characters interacted quite a bit. I could have gone for more of the mayor in general.Quote:
I'm sorry you didn't like Science Oven, Anthony.
I saw The Hobbit in high FPS 3D. Way better than the first one in low FPS 3D.
Watching a lot of American Horror Story: Coven lately. This show is off the damn walls every episode. There's no reason for any of the characters to be doing any of the contradictory things they do, and it's all an excuse to show weird horror sequences and run tropes from all over the map. Super-entertaining anyway somehow!
I think I like Mcconaughey's charcter on True Detective a little too much.
Show is spectacular. Slow my ass.
