She even made that shitty Texas Chainsaw movie bearable to sit through. Her rack is a miracle worker.

Finished The Searchers. A story about a girl kidnapped by Comanches loosely based on Cynthia Ann Parker, this is one of the greatest American movies ever made.
The acting is really bad at times, editing abrupt at times, but the cinematography and writing are hands down perfect. Every shot is beautiful, covering a rugged western landscape and hardened characters in a faded technicolor palette unavailable today. The story is darkly realistic and unapologetically upsetting.
The hero is a racist horses ass whose principles waver between what's more important: blood or association. But he's strong, brave, the only one knowledgable enough to navigate the land, the people, and war. And seemingly ironic to his racism, he took the time to learn the language of his enemy. He also knows their customs and predicts their actions. Though you may disagree with him, you respect his knowledge and leadership.
At his side is a young man who is the 1/8 Native adopted by Ethan's brother, and is the brother of the kidnapped girl. Unlike Ethan, his principles unwaver. Both blood and adoption are sternly more important than a lesser association or action. But he is young and emotional and makes several grave mistakes, such as running a horse to death.
All the other characters are equally good and bad. The Comanches kill and rampage, but their land is being encroached on. The Reverend is morally sound, but he is ignorant, not as worldly as Ethan, and thus useless in the search.
Through these ranchers, we see the nobility of the white man in creating a grand society from untouched land. But at the flaw of treating the Natives, not as collaborators, or even lesser beings, but as pests, rats or ants which must be driven from the land. Of course, that's not the case for every character. But that is the case with Ethan. His hatred of Comanches runs so deep, he'd kill his own niece over associating with them, even when it was done so by force.
In the end, Ethan works out his post war demons and does the right thing. But it's a hard road getting there and it's anything but perfect. And that's what makes the movie so god damn great.
I could not recommend it any more. The acting is bad, but the story is excellent and the message is still very relevant today.

Inherent Vice- I wanted to like this a lot more than I do. I found it hard to follow for some reason.
Sense8- Holy shit is this slow. Some good ideas that take forever to get to. There is some awful dialog stuck in here and there along with multiple indulgent montages (and there is an orchastra hit that sounds exactly like the one from Matrix drove me nuts). Like SSJN awhile ago you could cut out a few episodes and be left with a much better show. I think a good 3 episodes worth of material could be taken out, removing characters to make Sense7 or 6 would make things work better.
Were there enough bloody pussy shots for you?
I liked the Bollywood and 4 non blondes , but there was a TON of extraneous shit in it.
To further the comic metaphor, Sense8 is like all those comics that let creators run free without any editorial control. Sometimes it works, but far more often it doesn't.
I think most of the special effect budget went to those shots. You see one and you think, that's bold. Four more and it's like, alright, we get it.
I thought it all went to the sopping wet dildo the girlfriend threw on the floor in the first or second episode.
lol, that was the first episode. Shamu couldn't throw that much moisture.
Inside Out
"Take her to the moon for me, okay?" Them feels.
One of Pixar's best.
Sae that today as well. Spoilered part got me something fierce.
Be back in 80 minutes, hopefully with good things to say about True Detective.
Well, it didnt grab me the way the season 1 pilot did, but it didnt turn me off either.
I thought Inside Out was kind of lame. Actually fell asleep for a minute at one point.
Just never really cared about anything that was happening. Some jokes were funny.
Started watching Steven Universe on Hulu. Great stuff so far.
I'm watching Curb Your Enthusiasm. Is everyone on this show supposed to be a totally unrelatable piece of shit?
Yes.
Watching it is tedious and unfun. Oh well.
It's consistent with how I feel about Seinfield most of the time.
I never really watched Seinfeld. George was going off about some video game cabinet is about all I can remember about that show. Something about the Yankees too.
This show makes me think that was probably an OK thing.
I love Curb. It's like someone read a weeks worth of buttcheek's posts and made a show out of it.
Finally saw Gone Girl. Holy shit did I have some flashbacks.
I thought Seinfeld was funny and Curb is like that but concentrated to higher levels of cringe. I enjoy it.
Jews doing Jewish things.
Thankfully, the protective order I have in place is permanent. But as the police told me, "It's just a piece of paper. If she wants to come after you, there's really nothing to stop her." That's why I haven't stopped Kung Fu. Eventually I'll be catching bullets with my teeth just like Bruce Leroy. :tu:
Seinfeld is an incredibly tight & well crafted show.
Curb is a much looser, improvised interpretation of a similar mold centered around one character.
Curb, imo, had a Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, etc. mockumentary feel to it, which I liked a lot.
Pube caught in throat might be the best Curb moment but there's lots to choose from.
I watched The Slap, both the Australian and American versions. Pretty good mini-series. The US one is paced better but AU original seems to have a bit more depth to it.
I would think this is a case of no news is good news.
Glad to hear that! Hope you continue to provide no updates.
Yeah, I didn't expect that.
Major Lazer has a cartoon. It's fantastic.
I am super okay with that.
Montage of Heck. It was alright, but it just made me realize my opinion of Kurt Cobain as a tortured artist was completely wrong. He was a whiny emo little bitch. Even more so as an adult, yuck.
There's a thin line between tortured artist and whiny emo.
I marathoned through Halt and Catch Fire. It's Silicon Valley without the humor, and at one point even had a character that was the spitting image of Martin Star's character.
But I can only take one tech based show in which every episode ends with the sky falling, so I don't think I'll be keeping up with this one. I did like seeing all the 80's tech though. And it was neat hearing someone playing Mario with actual Mario sounds and not the standard Pac Man, Space Invaders, or Missile Command sound effects dubbed over everything.
Watched the first Ep of Humans.
Enjoyed it!
Rick and Morty season 2 leaked early, so far it's as good as the first season.
Whaaaaat? How much of it?
The last few episodes of Sense 8 sure do have a lot of vaginal birth close-ups going on. Oh you get a C-Section in there too.
Don't look!
Inside Out.... awesome
Scarlet Street 1945. I never gave Fritz Lang's American movies a chance, but this one is great. A hooker takes a meek businessman for a run when she mistakens him for a famous painter.
Saw "Inside Out", it's a solid B- of a movie. The short before it was really terrible!
YellerDog gives it a B-?! I haven't seen it. What is an A+ cartoon which came out in the last year?
Mad Max.
All the voice work was great, the animation was nice, but the execution of the concept was really weak and basic.
Porky's, Summer Rental, One Crazy Summer, Ferris Bueller.
The 80s were known for some outrageous comedies.
None of them match the wit and splendor of...
The Whoopee Boyshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VnQ-k9naCU
I just saw Terminator: Granpa and it was cute.
Really??
I watched The Apartment. 1960, Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, dir Billy Wilder. This movie lives up to the hype, which is saying a lot because it's regarded as a classic. But yeah, even by today's standards it's completely fouled up.
That is a great movie, as just about anything Wilder is.
I don't know how anyone who's looked in to Kurt Cobain's upbringing could not see him as anything other than an annoying whiny bitch. He was an instigator—and acted mostly like a spoiled self centred a-hole and used his musical talent to get away with it. That being said Nirvana is terrific—and videos of their live shows are still super raw and unique in their vibe.
Dude always struck me as a sarcastic punker, and then a shambling drug addict, but not particularly whiney.
Not whiney? Dude invented Grunge. Doesn't get any more whiney than that.
I never thought of Nirvana's or any grunge lyrics as whiny. Most of Kurt's are '90s free association nonsense.
"A mulatto / an albino /a mosquito /my libido."
Free association my ass.
Mulatto's and albinos have a bit or no pigment. What do people with lots of pigment have? Big dicks.
What does a mosquito have? A small prick.
Kurt's obviously whining about his lack of sexual desire due to his small penis.
Everything is eventually about penis size.
He's just saying he's horny.
Neil Young was pretty whiney
Neeeeeeydllllleeee annddddhddd theee daaaammmmmmaaageee duuuuuuuunnnnnn
Furious 7.
Aside from being the most unintentionally (?) corny movie I've ever seen, wtf is going on with Kurt Russell's neck?
I was just responding to dude invented grunge. Not necessarily the whiney part.
Nobody complained in music before 1991.
Bootstraps.
Inside Out seemed like a Pixar by numbers. Very little actual fun. They had a concept, they made "alternate world" built around the concept like all their other movies. There were like 4 good jokes and a whole lot of boring exposition. It's just not a very fun movie. There are some good moments but overall one of the worst Pixar efforts to date.
Agreed. Worst pre-movie short they've done too, I think.
Welcome to the club.
So come give me a hug if you into getting rubbed
All caught up on Steven Universe, holy cow what a good show. Best OST in a cartoon since Cowboy Bebop, too.
I marathon-ed it the other day. So god damn charming. "how do we get through that?!" "Pretend you're a rich duck!"
OST here: http://theworldofstevenuniverse.blog.../01/music.html
The crew tends to put up new tracks and demos on Soundcloud with regularity, it's cool to hear the rough versions.
The Arcade episode had a bang-up Streets of Rage track, too!
Just saw Ant Man. Better than Avengers: Age of Ultron, IMO.
That's a low bar to clear, but glad to hear it.
Honestly, the effects in the opening sequence with a CG de-aged Michael Douglas were some of the most astonishing I've ever seen. The effect was perfect. Even recent attempts to do the same thing in films such as Terminator Genisys (which looked pretty decent) were primitive in comparison.
Aside from that, Ant Man was funny, fast paced, the acting overall was good, and the use of his shrinking powers were creative (and pretty hilarious in a few scenes). Liked the Spider-Man reference when they mentioned "a guy that crawls up walls" as well.
Plus, the story wasn't your usual "gotta save the world/whole city gets destroyed" type of stuff, which was a nice change.
Typical Marvel throw away, one-note villain however, which was unfortunate. Plus they were a few other minor quibbles and complaints, but overall it was an enjoyable movie.
John Dies at the End. VERY enjoyable. Dug the low budget feel.
Xmen 1, 2 and 3.
Very well casted, but pretty average movies. I think I dig the 2nd one the most.
I'm gonna watch all of them. I enjoy marathoning movies on a theme.
You're probably right though. I've heard some stinky things about these next few movies.
First Class was good, makes no sense to watch DOFP without FC.
Chux is right.
Of the first set of 3, 2 is easily the best. FC and DoFP are both good. Come to think of it, 2 is probably my favorite out of all of them.
