You liked Ocean's 12? Interesting.
Watched the last half of the Donald Sutherland "Invasion of the Body Snatchers".
What a well written movie. Just solid. I didn't overtly notice a lot of little throwaway lines last time I watched it ("Two passengers... Code H."), but man, they add a lot to the atmosphere of paranoia once it all starts falling apart.
Watched The Machine Girl. pretty meh considering all the hype it got here.
Lucio Fulci Conquest. OMG, its like Uwe Boll got into Fulci's head and raped his brains while watching Conan the Barbarian. Retardadly trashy, low budget fantasy romp, filmed with lenses of three colors: Blue, Red and Dust :p
It also has magical bow shooting Lazors at Army of Evil Chewbuckas and their Naked Queen wearing only Golden Mask.
Watched the first episode of Factory (new Spike original series). It had some lols and some promise. I'm going to stay with it for a while and see where it goes. I like way they filmed it. There's no laugh track. It's sort of documentary style like The Office, but they don't frame it as such.
I found it entertaining and I am generally amused by the interactions of beautiful people. I am also a fan of CZJ and am glad that 12 stepped away from the Vegas/casino scene because when they revisited in 13, it felt refreshing rather than stale. 12 was the worst of the three, though.
I also watched Le Samourai again, twice this past weekend, and I have to say it's one of the coolest movies I've ever seen, definitely a big Melville fan.
Eagle vs Shark. It was precious.
Steven King's Firestarter. I havent read the book, but I liked the movie. Its like Charlie grew up into Liz Sherman from Hellboy :)
You never saw Firestarter? Damn dude.
Did you see Christine, Cujo, or The Dead Zone?
Vantage Point. Decent, but plagued by the retarded ending.
finished up There Will Be Blood. whoever told me earlier that it doesn't get any better was right. what an awful fucking movie.
I watched Shivers last night. It had somewhat poor acting but an awesome ending. Sex-slug orgy in the pool anyone?
I just watched "My mom's new boyfriend"
Great line up for 2008! I've been watching movies consecutively for the past few weeks now!
Vanilla Sky
Amazing. One of the best hard sci-fi* movies I've seen in a long time. Totally unexpected.
*???!!!
i can't say i've ever watched that film. that and Eternal Sunshine i stayed away from BECAUSE of all the acclaim.
Well, stop being a shithead and go see good movies, IMO. We spent an entire summer graphitting on a Vanilla Sky poster without having any expectation of actually seeing the movie.
Turns out it's really good.
Oops.
This is what you look like, Dyne.
i started to watch Eternal Sunshine once and it bored the hell outta me.
i started watching you once and you bored the hell out of me. DOES IT FEEL GOOD WHEN YOU HAVE THAT KIND OF COMMENTARY DIRECTED AT YOU? DOES IT?
lol@finch.
that thing is funny if you imagine Dyne as it
Blade - Man, I LOVE this. Stylish, gritty, kick ass action, that introduced a lot of concepts , style and cool FX before Matrix made them famous and overused. Snipes on top of his game, brutal and deadly, and Dorff great as yappy Vampire leader.
Blade 2 - Del Toro's follow up, hated by many, but LOVED by me as much as original Blade. With Bad Ass factor X10 from the original, Blade comes back to kick collective Reaper's ass. Even with some of questionable CG used in fight scenes, everything rocked. Blade vs 40 guards fight, his fights with Nomak, various shootouts, this move is pure action style.
Funny how most of now days big action flicks, cant even touch coolness and style of these 2, almost 10 year old films.
Also:
Hancock - Liked it A LOT. Definitely one of the better Super Hero films I've seen. I'll happily take Hancock over good old Supes :p More comments in official thread.
Drillbit Taylor - This film annoyed the crap out of me. All the characters sucked.
La Orfanata aka The Orphanage - Wow, now this was great. In the vein of The Devil's Backbone - if you liked that, you'll like this.
10,000 BC - Ugh. The CG was almost as good as the Sci-Fi Channel's, and that's the best thing I can say about this dunghill. Whoever did the soundtrack gets the "How To Rip Off Jerry Goldsmith, Badly" award.
Primer - What an amazing concept, and they pulled it off pretty well despite having next to no money. Bravo.
saw Wall*E. Awesome movie. Well worth the wait.
I've started up DeadWood again, I'm 5 episodes from the end, and I am sad.
It didnt end on that wrestling scene, you know :p plus most of that fight was cool, even with bits of shoddy CG. They had to show the battle of 2 super powers :p
The super-shitty battle, indeed. Twirl twirl. Wrasslin' move. Twirl twirl. Grapple. Twirl twirl. Bad wallcrawling flying elbow CGI thing. Twirl twirl. Bad CGI move.
Twirl.
If the ENTIRE MOVIE wasn't weighed on that one fight, I'd have just let it slide.
...
Saw Mongol tonight, a film about the life of Genghis Khan. Pretty cool! Great score, very meditative.
First half detailing his childhood was the best, I thought. I understand it's going to be a trilogy, I'm down for two more of these for sure.
Anybody else catch this?
I watched some of it, but havent gotten the chance to watch the rest.
American Psycho- Half pretty good, half Jesus Christ, i get it, please let it end already
i want a dancing Wall-E
Jumper: Crap, visuals were nice but the bad acting and lack of a good story.
In Burges: Great, I loved it.
National Treasure 2: The Videogame
At least it feels like a Tomb Raider videogame to me. If these guys were on Jeopardy, the would win tournament by at least $30k. Seriously, they can solve century old riddle/puzzles within seconds, and they are better than James Bond in breaking into any place. I LOL when they used an IPOD to disrupt the security systems
Oh yah, the movie dragged on too long too, they should have cut that scene with sprinkling bottles of water on the side of a MOUNTAIN to discover the secret door hatch. Nicolas Cage looks like he is going bald too.
Not a bad movie, and for a Tomb Raider movie, it is way better than Angelina Jolie's crap fests.
Wrong about NT2 though. First one was surprisingly fun, yet 2nd was mediocre.
lol at TR joke, I will gladly take mindless fun of TR over both NT films.
watched Say Anything today...and i liked it.
i don't think i've ever disliked a john cusak film. serendipity was awesome.
I wanted to say "no way" but then I realized blade came out in 1998. I also loved blade two, screw the haters.Quote:
Funny how most of now days big action flicks, cant even touch coolness and style of these 2, almost 10 year old films.
Gotham Knight: I am torn on this. First 3 stories were complete SHIT, both story and animation wise. But the other 3 were very good. I really liked one with Croc and Scarecrow, and I wish whole movie would been like that.
I guess I will call this decent on the strenght of last eps, but still somewhat meh.
Recently re-watched It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia seasons 1+2. By far the funniest show still on the air. Looking forward to season 3 on DVD as I don't get FX

Need to find more sites like this.
I watched the ani-bat-matrix today, wasn't impressed at all. For one thing none of the stories were really too compelling, the one with scarecrow was especially weak. And aside from the first story the art just wasn't very striking. Pretty big let down all in all, as it looked really cool in the previews.
I'm planning to pick up that Grosse Point/High Fidelity double feature DVD sometime this weekend, speaking of.
Weeds: Season 3.
Boo. What a bunch of bullshit in that season. Just as bad as the ending to season 2.
Wasn't the end of season 2 with the Mexican stand off? That was a great ending.
No it wasn't. Too much random shit going on for it to even be relevant.
I have them right naow.
I've gone many many years not buying a lot of comedies. I'll look into Better Off Dead.
How was War, Inc.? I understand it's a GPB sequel of sorts.
Season 3 totally ruined this show. The first season is just really really good, and it was all downhill after that. Once U-Turn showed up and didn't rape Nancy and blow her head off, but instead took her under his wing as her protege, I was done. Fuck season 4, I refuse to watch a single episode.
My favorite Cusak movie is The Grifters.
Watched 300 with the girlfriend and even on a small screen It's fucking awesome, I don't know what people are talking about with this one.
I liked high fidelity alot.
On topic, watched the later half of jacky brown for the first time, it was awesome, i don't know where the hate comes from.
Anyone who hates Jackie Brown hasn't actually watched Jackie Brown, IMO.
Sam Jackson's best role, or damn near it. Pam Grier is awesome.
Movie made me appreciate the Delfonics.
Memento - Wanted to see it for quite a long time, and finally got to it. Liked it a lot. Intriguing story, awesome composition and nice mind fuck with the story told in reverse style. It also leaves you to think and make your own conclusions on what actually happened.
Jackie Brown is a cool movie, its just overly long and slow paced, which some people can't stomach.
I like that about it, though. Gives it room to be thoughtful.
It gives it room to think "How long IS this?!"
One or the other, yeah.
Watched the first two episodes of Dexter, It's alright. I was expecting more of a dead like me vibe, but the super serious works too.
Netflix has at least some of the series on instant watch on their site if you didn't know. I finished up Funny Games last night. Horrible movie. Filled with static shots up to two minutes long. At first I thought the dvd was defective. Nothing really happens and the kills that do are off camera.
3:10 to Yuma, loved it.
Great fucking movie
New or original?
Shaolin vs. Terminator
yes, it's as insane as the title suggests
Where do you get such gold from?
Foreign lands, no doubt!
edit: some research, then:
Click for full size
No idea where the pic is from, looks goddamn amazing. Yoda AND Planet of the Apes? And some luchadors?
HOLY SHIT
yep
images don't really convey the movie at all, it's something that has to be seen
I loved "Turkish Star Wars", so I'd probably be into that.
I finally saw The Mist. I liked it a lot but I like the novella's ending more than the movie's.
I don't recall that in Turkish. It mostly just had Indiana Jones music and stolen space scenes, that was more or less the only direct connection.
The best part of the movie being, of course, the connections you make up on your own.
I didn't even know a Brazilian Star Wars existed! Amazing.
I highly recommend that Rollerboys movie that was in Yeller's picks.
It's brilliant.
You need to follow this shit up with some Lady Terminator.

John Woo's Windtalkers AKA Nick Cage on Japanese Killing Spree :p
Great battle scenes, huge body count, usual cliches and sap you find in your WAR movies and that's about it. Oh yeah, the use of fucking stock footage for battleships in 70 million Hollywood production still bugs me :p
Watched Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind last night. I loved it, the animation was wonderful, the music was excellent and the story was very touching. Miyazaki can just do no wrong. It was also suprisingly dark, there was some killing, blood, etc and the Giant Warrior near the end was pretty scary looking. Great film.
I'm making my way through Season 1 of The Wire, I really dig it.
Got up early this morning and watched The Third Man again. The last scene had to have been the inspiration for a scene from The Departed.
I'm on episode 7 or 8 of Dexter, It's still good but not great. With that said it is easily the best show on television still getting new episodes. If it wasn't for the showtime/HBO shows there would be nothing worth watching at all.
So someone needs to tell me where to get a copy of Shaolin vs. Terminator, because this is something my life needs to be complete.
Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix - wow was that a dark fucking movie. I liked it.
a lot.
Hancock.
I found it pleasing.
Jumper. Could have been fleshed out a bit. Far from horrible though.
Jumper was planned as the first in a trilogy i think.
Jumped sucked. A great premise ruined by a shitty script. :(
Swordfish - Still like it. Mindless, nicely shot bit of action, and hey, bad guys got away with the loot :p
I went to see Point Break Live saturday night. It was fun. I was dragged there but ended up enjoying it. They do the whole movie as a stage show, and to prove that anyone can act as good as Keanu Reeves, they hold auditions at the start of the show to cast Johnny Utah from the audience. They make everything ridiculous, and spash water/beer/blood/suntan lotion all over the audience. They provide ponchos for everyone to wear and sell meatball subs at intermission. I recommend it if it's in your town. It helps to watch the movie like 5 times before you go.
That sounds like the coolest thing ever, stormy. Jealous!
