Why are they doing that?
If you've heard any of the Ten mixes by Brendan O'Brien you'd understand why. Ten is notoriously heavy on reverb and has an 80s production sound. The band has never been a huge fan of the original mix thinking it sounded too produced and even got Brendan to remaster a few tracks for Rearviewmirror which came out a few years ago. Brendan has produced their best albums [Vs & Yield] and I'm sure this version of Ten will be even better than the original. Fingers crossed - though PJ being my favourite band leans me towards a bias.
Ten = cathedral reverb plugin.
I am excited about the re-release of this album.
Was just thinking how sweet it would be if they dropped Dirty Frank with this. I know it won't happen but hey it was a Ten b-side.
Ten was all b-side trash IMO. Call me when they release VS.
Eh? I got Rearviewmirror when it came out. I thought the remasters were so bad that I immediately ordered an original release of every Pearl Jam album I didn't already own (Amazon used marketplace = cheap win) so I wouldn't have to suffer the horrible damage done to the Rearviewmirror songs.
Rearviewmirror is one of my "how not to remaster" benchmarks.
I'll give the new Ten a listen if only for the sake of less reverb, but I won't be optimistic.
The only songs remastered were Ten songs weren't they? Maybe spin the black circle too? I can't remember.
