PnP was actually the last time I tried snow boarding, my family went there for a trip because it was the thing my sister and I were into at the time lol. My dad leveled a kid going down one of the slopes, good times. I've never heard of Seven Springs but whatever is good. So I'll leave it up to you guys where we go, this sounds like a great deal of fun.

I wouldn't be doing an overnight deal, I'm close enough to just drive out for the day, get some skiing in and head home. Holiday Valley is my favorite place to ski around here so that's definitely my pick.

How about Jan 6/7 (For those who want to stay) the holidays are over and while it's not too far, it's not too close either. This way if we have a good time and get this going (Or if there are setbacks) we can either reschedule, or even schedule a second TNL ski trip.

Edit: or do you think maybe doing it like near February would be better, and Biff and I hit up the local slopes a bit so I can get in lots of practice before doing this?

Alright, my 21st birthday is Febraury 6th, I smell a good time around then. As soon as the slopes are open at Brandywine I'll work on getting a board even if it's Biff's used board and start practicing. Yeah Biff I should get the board and get some boots and bindings made, I unfortunately have very small feet.

lol! Sounds like me my first time snowboarding. I've been skiing since I was 3 so I had no fear going down any slope, but I didn't know how to snowboard....at all. It was a disaster, and to this day I think I'm still sore from that.

don't go to Boston Mills. They have a lot of large, fat guys trying to learn how to ski on the easier slopes, and they will make your life miserable. That's how I dislocated my elbow. Fat guy trying to ski sideswiped me as I was snowboarding. My elbow landed under him.

Boston Mills is pretty terrible as far as skiing quality goes, but it's one of the best places to learn simply because of the lack of difficulty. Nomi's accident was just a freak occurrence /she's a fragile girl.

Either Boston Mills or Brandywine will work, I prefer Boston Mills (lesser of 2 evils I suppose) because that's where I learned, but both get the job done. You could also try Alpine Valley, but it's pretty much the worst place ever and I'd rather not ski than to ski there.

I forgot that Brandywine and Boston Mills were the same thing technically, but I've only been to Brandywine's part and I remember enjoying it quite a bit, and not having much trouble.

My biggest problem just came down to stopping, I could do it, but I'd slide about 5 feet the other direction when I tried (Eventually I got it down but that took me the longest time) depending on how fast I was going. lol

It would definitely be better to go in late January or sometime in February, as the trails should all be in good shape by then.

In other news, I scored a great deal on some Salomon skis. They were last years model and marked down over $250 dollars. I am psyched, I have had the same pair for over 10 years.

And my sister just informed me she's going to Stowe for MLK weekend. Looks like I'm flying up to New Hampshire and getting picked up on their drive there. Stowe seems like a great place to start my ski season. :)

I've actually never been to Stowe. I've been to Stratton & Killington, but never Stowe. I've heard great things though and I'm pumped to finally get to ski there.

My only dilemma is whether to get my old ski's prepped for the winter (which I haven't used in 2 years), buy a new pair w/ bindings & boots, or to just rent when I go up there. DECISIONS, DECISIONS!!

Dude, try Bill and Son's in Ravenna. I got my piece of shit there, and my brother bought a car from them, too. If you're looking for a used but perfectly running sedan or small vehicle between 2 and 5k it's a nice place. I have no idea what they sell beyond that range though. He's a nice dealer.

Hopefully later this month. I asked them specifically about skiing actually and they said 4-5 weeks, but it's all dependent on how well they think my back is recovering. I'm hoping 3 weeks till I'm 100%, but that's just me! :sweat:

I'm all for pushing it back to late Feb if needed, I'd like to be as close as possible to your levels so that I'm not just going out on my won etc.

This is honestly the first time I can remember pulling anything, it's a pain, no actual pain but you feel it start to pull and just stop what you're doing lol.

So has anyone else had the chance to go out the past few weeks? I was out yesterday for about 6 hours, I ended the day successfully doing runs on a black daimond course, also did a grind on a rail, as well as failed to grind on a rail, and did several jumps most the day.

Made a new friend with some guy and his grandson (His grandson is 6 and a really fucking good skier dear god) and spent most the day with them.

If Josh goes I'll consider rolling up with him. I haven't ridden in almost 10 years, but it's like riding a bike. omg, it's been 10 years since I last rode? Fuck I'm old.

2 more weeks of physical therapy. Getting back into the gym slowly, but still not able to run or do any serious lifting. So it'll definitely be late Feb until I'm at 100%. At least the constant pain in my legs is gone. :)

That's good, I can't afford it as I'm still not fulltime, if I'm not fulltime before the trip then I won't be able to go, so the pushed back date is definitely helpful.
