Also makes their obnoxious new TV ads doubly insulting.
They're not hurting too much. In Montgomery, AL, Wal-mart bought and plowed over a whole poor neighborhood because there really needed to be 4 Super Wal-marts within 15 miles of each other. Now there are 5.Quote:
Wal-mart tried to open a store in my hometown of Crofton - boy, were they in for a surprise. The residents all basically told them, "Fuck you. Get the fuck out. No way in hell will we approve your store being built in our town."
My dad's the reason Wal-mart did this. About 15 years ago, he took my brother to return a Super Soaker 100 which was clearly several years old. And it worked.
And Target shoes.
I like Wal-mart. It's a store I don't want to shop in, but it acts exceptionally well as an absorbant for all the people I don't want to shop with.
If Wal-mart went away, those bitches that contest the price of every goddamn item in their carts would have to migrate somewhere.
It's shitty that they sued for more money than they got after lawyer fees, but as much as I don't like walmart, I don't see anything wrong with this. When you get into a car accident, you can't have your insurance company pay to fix the car and collect from the other insurance company at the same time. The lesson is they should have gotten more out of the settlement.
