Sweeney Todd

Always loved this story, and the reviews flowing in so far are promising. Lots of blood, apparently.

+ Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman, w/ Sacha Baron Cohen as Pirelli. I am really interested in how Depp pulls off the transformation.

A lot of reviews are saying that the biggest problem with the movie is the same problem that a lot of recent movie musical adaptations are having: the singing in no way holds up to the broadway performances.

Gonna go see it tomorrow, anyone else excited for this?

I dunno about this one. I thought it looked interesting (despite the sucky Tim Burton directing) until I found out it was a musical. I'm very picky about musicals- seeing them live somehow makes them easier to enjoy, but the only film musical I've ever really liked a lot was The King and I, and that was mainly because Yul Brynner rocks so hard.

It is a musical but it is also about an insane barber chopping people up and making pies out of them that they then sell to other people.

I'll be honest, I've never seen the musical, but I do have the soundtrack. My father is big into this so I heard it growing up. I hope the movie is decent.

My gf saw the play with her mom when she was a kid, so she wants to see the movie now.

Like I said, I like musicals when they're live- the most recent one I saw was Evil Dead: The Musical, which was very cool. But my patience is very limited when it comes to filmed ones. Not sure why.

I have no issues with Musicals made into Movies, and really enjoyed Phantom.

Will see this tomorrow with the Mrs. I will probably love the movie except for the musical numbers. Never been a musical kinda of guy.
