Why?
Why what? Why is it a terrible idea?
This subforum is constantly filled with threads and posts about distrust for government, law enforcement, corporations, etc. Guess who still has guns if we "get rid of [them]."
edit: The US also isn't a hugely isolated island. Thinking what works in Australia will work here in many contexts is ludicrous. Maybe we should adopt their border security too, since we're so similar. I'm sure the Mexican cartels would have complete respect for US gun control laws and wouldn't smuggle any across the border. It worked for drugs after all.
Guess who it doesn't matter how many guns the "people" has will still win?
It's not the 1700s, your muskets aren't going to do shit against their tanks.
Is that why ISIS was so easy to rout?
ISIS is a lot more organized than your average Joe Walmart, I'd wager.
I don't think ISIS lets grunts make strategic decisions.
So a full force invading the US is more likely than a full force in Syria/Iraq?
edit: I wasn't envisioning a damn civil war but more attempts at temporary occupation of cities or something on a much smaller scale.
No one is putting Joe Walmart in charge.
