Blade Runner

I started playing the 1997 PC Blade Runner game the other day. I didn't get into it before but I figured I would give it another chance.

I'm at the beginning of disc 2 and it has started giving me crashing problems when loading speech. It could be an issue with XP but it's probably a defective disc as disc 1 didn't give much problem. The game was a little boring at first but it's starting to pick up. I'm debating whether to stop now since it doesn't appear to work right but the game got some great reviews back then so I'm wondering if it's worth tracking down another disc.

Any opinions on the game?

Is it possible for you to do a full install? I just got this a few weeks ago myself and I haven't had any crashing problems. I don't need the CD in my drive either, though I may have used a no-CD hack back when I installed.

As for the game, it's one of the more faithful adaptations of a film that I've ever seen. It even does some unusual stuff for the genre, what with all of the minor puzzle/character randomization + multiple endings.

been forever since i've played it. may have actually been my 98 machine when i did. game was great then. can't say much about it now unfortunately. this and Sanitarium will probably be installed this weekend.

patches here. supposedly problems with AMD chips.
seems mostly like a lot of old games that have problems with cpu's that are too fast.

Good idea. It didn't even occur to me to try it.

it does have a full install mode. supposedly there are no-cd cracks out there but i didn't find one at my usual place.

The best Blade Runner game is Snatcher.

I did the full install. It took forever installing disc 2 but it managed to finish. I didn't find a no cd crack at the usual place I look either but I will look around more.

Honestly I liked it better then Snatcher. Japanese adventure games tend to have you wade though menus to solve clues. American adventure games have a bit more interactive feel with the environment. And as an American (or the European style, since a lot of adventure games are made over there) the Blade Runner game is a classic. As someone who plays a lot of those type of games I would recomend it to anyone interested in the genre.

The voxel graphics on the characters were pretty fucking hard to look at, even back in the day. Backgrounds were nice, though.
