Seconded. Losing because I'm reacting to something that happened half a second ago somewhere in New Zealand is horrible!
Nine times out of ten that's not the case, happily.

I think the big deal for me was learning to block - that instead of trying to be flashy and rushdown, knowing that I should be blocking another player's rushdown. However the bigger problem crops up after that - the opponent is pretty good at keeping pressure on and even when I think they have an opening, they don't. Or at least when I try poking at an opening with something safe (c.L), I still get punished for it.
Razor's right though - I don't spend enough time at it. I was talking with Pineapple about the same thing with SF4. I go through these tides of being interested, and then completely out. Once I get back in, it's like I can't even do the stuff I could before. It's annoying. I know staying consistent would be better - but an hour or so a night when I feel like I'm not improving or learning is a rough deal. I spend that much time in Maya and I'm beginning to comprehend 3D animation by leaps and bounds compared to what I knew before. A fighting game is that much worse? :P
Training mode is your best friend, really. I spend a lot of time in it just practicing dumb shit that can be helpful in a real situation.
As far as getting punished when you put a foot out, you may be the victim of frame traps. They seem safe and that's why they're there. So as soon as you push a button another attack comes out that will beat yours out and you eat a combo. That exists in SF4, too.
Merely exists? That is ALL OVER SF4. That is it's thing.
Frame trap or even advantage plus input lag plus latency equals super bullshit.
This is $15 new on Bestbuy.com.
Hmmm.
Get it, damn your eyes.
Update is out today. I may get online and play a few just to try it. Anyone else down?
Yes, lets do it.
Connection was shit, buddy. Forget that.
You need to get some actual working internet man. I've played people with better connections who live across the ocean, and you and I live in the same state.
I didn't really notice any changes last night, but I wasn't sure what to look for so I probably saw some and they just slipped past. Rose seemed to be able to link things a little easier than the last time I used her. All other matches seemed to run even a little better than before. It was nice playing against Diff for a minute before we got invaded by a Guile player who had his heart set on teaching us how we should be playing the game.
