HEY so Can my launch model xbox 360 output 1080p? I've heard some internet nonsense that only the ones with hdmi output can. Is this more bullshit? If it can output 1080p (I have an option claiming it can) is this via component or only through the vga connection?
I want to get a TV, but I don't want to buy something I don't need...

It should...it's just that many displays will not do 1080p (Sonys, others) without HDMI

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x...le/default.htm
"High-definition gaming output of 720p, 1080i or 1080p"

Thanks for the link... Looks like VGA is a possibility too.
Joust: I'll just be really careful with what I get. I don't exactly throw money around for funsies anymore.

That cable by the way is packaged with any system higher than an Arcade, so don't go buying it twice.

I always thought that 1080p output wouldn't work through the component cables but I guess it does. However, I can verify that 1080p over VGA definitely works, and monoprice has 360 VGA cables.

I have both a VGA and a set of component cables, thanks.

I remember it saying my games were being displayed at 1080p when I was using the component cables back in the day, but DVDs will not be upscaled and I'm not sure how it will display HD-DVDs. Pretty sure though that games ca be 1080p.

1080p through component is dependent on what type of TV you have. Not all sets accept 1080p through component.
EDIT -what Joust said

My tv didn't I had to use my VGA cable to get 1080p.
